The standard of refereeing has been exceptional, so it's sad to see Denmark go out to the first dodgy decision, but England definitely deserved the win overall. Hoping for a good final - England's possession play and Italy's counter-attacking should make for exciting stuff.

Good idea but i just checked and the blog section is visible to search engines and so anything i put up there would be classed as published by potential publishers - writing forums get around this by having their critique sections invisible to search engines.

I could put up a story i don't plan on publishing but then i neither need feedback nor is it an example of my best work.

The stories range from 800 - 5000 words, and i only need feedback on some of the sci-fi ones so there won't be many.

Not sure if England's relatively easy fixtures will be to their benefit or detriment - a chance to build up to it, or a missing opportunity to cut their teeth against the best?

The first half lived up to the billing. Good to see Italy play dynamic football. Spain Croatia best game of the tournament so far still. Agree with Italy - England final. 

Can't sniff at Italy's defence, but Lukaku's been ripping Italian defences up for a couple of years now. Should be the best match of the quarters.

I hope Belgium pull it off, it's now or never for them. England and Italy should continue to produce top squads, but smaller countries like Belgium need to make the most of it with the stars they currently have. The Dutch are still due a trophy from their golden age.

Btw, not sure all the 'British' were happy with England's win.

The tournament is Belgium's to lose.

Appreciate the offers, but i should have stated i'm only looking for people i've interacted with on the site for a while. Beta reading is an important part of an author's process so i really need to be able to trust any feedback - and trust requires having some relationship beforehand. 

And unfortunately can't put any stories online without losing the ability to sell first publishing rights, which is all the vast majority of publishers care about.

As a nurse neurosurgeons were among my least favourite doctors and anaesthetists my favourite, so i see this as a most positive move.

Yeah, that's what a lot of neuroscientists are currently doing: using an understanding of the brain to create new computer architectures (hardware or software), kind of how the artificial neural network was inspired by a model of neurons.  

I wonder if computational neuroscience might be your thing. Seems to include all your favourites.

I'd be reluctant to go without REM sleep. Not sure what the latest research suggests, but it's thought to have some restorative function. Maybe DrmDoc knows more?

One treatment for isolated sleep paralysis is SSRI anti-depressants - they suppress REM activity.

I usually go flying, but one night i thought i'd try something different. But you can't think too hard while lucid dreaming or you wake up (anyone else find that?). So i thought, what's the opposite of flying - digging of course. So i voluntarily dreamed of digging a hole. 

You can learn to have fun with it - lucid dreaming, out-of-body experiences and such - but it's tricky.

The next one is in California. I'm guessing my supervisor will be up for that one too.
