  1. ... The officer did say that he targeted my front license plate area, but also included the bumper, etc. Later the Judge in her judgement of me indicated that the officer had targeted my front license plate and that is all she said. Of course by that time it was too late as she had concluded the trial.

The judge neglected to include the word "area". As far as I understand the process, that omission does not overrule the officer's original testimony and is not sufficient grounds for appeal. (IANAL)

... funny how on different roads on different occassions I was always driving 19 MPH over the speed limit which is just 1 MPH below the next higher traffic infraction and point level.

I have had officers tell me straight out that they were writing the citiation for a speed lower than what they observed (and lower than the speed I know I was traveling). I consider that a good thing.

  2. Faster growing trees are being developed, such as Lyptus:

Lyptus is the trade name of a wood made from a hybrid of two species of Eucalyptus tree, Eucalyptus grandis and Eucalyptus urophylla. Developed for quick harvesting, and grown on plantations in Brazil, Lyptus is marketed as an environmentally friendly alternative to oak, cherry, mahogany, and other wood products that may be harvested from old growth forests. Lyptus trees can be harvested for lumber in approximately 15 years, much sooner than woods from cooler climates.
  3. Just a couple of suggestions:

Question 4, "Income" -- Some people do not like to divulge personal financial data. You should include the option, "Prefer not to answer".

Question 9, "Do you tolerate different opinions in this matter?" -- I can't accurately answer simply "yes/no". My level of tolerance depends greatly on the actions and attitude of the person offering the opinion.

Question 10, "Is/was evolution or creationism taught to you in school?" -- I was taught creation in Sunday school bible classes when I was young. However, I do not recall ever seeing it in public school.

  4. It's still interesting they are generating torque while apparently not experiencing CEMF. ...

Incorrect. Sean McCarthy (CEO of Steorn) has publicly stated that their latest demo did NOT show zero CEMF:

    @TinselKoala

OK - just watch 18 - again all that I can say is that you have CEMF. I accept that our first experiment did not prove no CEMF - but thats why we are redoing it (plus other tests). I have no problem with you (or anyone else) trying to replicate our tests to disprove - the point that I make is that this is not a replication. Anyway, as I said not a lot that can really be debated in this format.

Long-time Steorn skeptic Alsetalokin (as he is known on their forum) has been conducting independent experiments that very closely replicate Steorn's public demonstrations. He has a large number of videos on YouTube (under the name "TinselKoala") showing these experiments, beginning with:

His latest work is a more detailed series of experiments (34 videos), beginning with:

  5. Psychiatrists are scammers, this can't be denied if you know the facts.

    What facts are those?

We need to understand what life is all about and what is required to stay alive in the future.

What has this to do with psychiatry?

Scientific studies show again and again that psychiatry is doing more harm then good and that alternatives (such as for example Soteria psychotherapy) can make up to 90% of all people with complex psychologica problems (labeled with schizophrenia/psychosis) recover well while psychiatric treatment reduces the chance to recover. This is hard fact.

Did you know there is no athlete trainer education in The Netherlands? It is because to be able to guide athletes you need 'experience' (which includes beyond what you can measure). Every athlete is unique and requires his own unique way to get results. Science can offer limited help in this area.

If you want to talk about athletic training, start a different thread.

Marketing is ready to roll this out as soon as Sisyphus' check clears.

  7. Sounds like you want a "document indexing" or "document management system" (DMS). There are many commercial offerings, (most are targeted to enterprise level support), but quite a few open source alternatives exist.

I briefly looked into this subject for a friend, but this is about as far as I got before they pulled the plug on the idea. (Their needs required scanning several thousand pages of paper documents.)

  8. ...

I'm unsure how to maintain any level of freedom from intrusion in interaction with most companies away from my computer, but on my computer this is pretty much tops.

If I don't want to give a company/website my personal information, I just use a fake name, address, phone, SSN, and of course, I dedicate a throw-away e-mail for SPAM. (The Firefox add-on FireForm actually has that as a feature.)

For things such as a grocery store "rewards card", I change the spelling of my name. I still receive my "rewards" coupons in the mail, but if they sell my info to a mailing list, I can easily identify the junk mail.

  9. Here is a couple more websites that deal with some of the principals Primal Therapy is based on ...

I rather prefer the website http://debunkingprimaltherapy.com/

    From the Introduction page:

"It is necessary to outline my background a little so that the reader can assess whether I am qualified to write such an assessment of primal therapy. In the early nineties I began to read Arthur Janov’s primal books, and by the end of that decade had read every one of them, some more than once. Later, I went through 7 semesters of therapist training at Dr Janov’s Primal Center in Venice California. Before and at the same time I was a participant in the therapy too, as was deemed necessary to become a primal therapist. With the initial goal to start the long process to get state licensure in California, (and returning to the Primal Center training perhaps later if I decided to be a primal therapist), I went back to school to prepare myself for graduate school. These goals changed slowly as I learned more in college. What I learned at school, in many courses in psychology and science combined with many first hand observations of primal therapy is what this article and website is about."

  10. Only one wall has components behind it (at least components that apply to your room). I shouldn't think especially thick.

Considering the items you suggested, I disagree:

... [roll of] carpet inside, pull at the carpet and it unrolls covering the floor...

... variously sized draws, one has no front side and ends neer the floor at the back of the room, it contains a sofa, one contains a set of taps, several resemble large cupboards and a coupple surfaces one containing a TV.

...another containing a nice wooden table with an antique look, it's big and looks heavy and works much like the sofa draw.

... mantinance passeges behind the smart wall...

  11. As a serious student of health and nutrition as a layperson for over 20 years I agree with most of the foods to avoid that you (he) list. Only ones I don't agree with are fruit juices, gains and fish.. all the rest on that list is garbage.

From that partial list of foods that Mercola deems unhealthy, let's look at that those with which you do agree:

trans fats: Safe to say, these are pretty much universally accepted as "bad for you".

artificial sweeteners: There is enough controversy over "artificial sweeteners" that I'll leave this one out. Although, other than saccharin, I have yet to see any proper studies that find conclusive evidence of "danger" from such things as Aspartame.

artificial foods: I will assume this refers to "artificial flavors and colors" (food additives). I am unaware of any current, proper studies finding harm in the use of these, but I can understand a personal desire to avoid unnecessary additives in one's food.

Please, have a go at the rest...

    pasteurized milk

    homogenized milk

    corn and canola oil

    unfermented soy products

    sugar

    starches

    canned [or] packaged foods

I also agree 100 % with the first statement with exception about energy psychology. Taking prescription drugs are very bad for the body and in the long term cause toxicity and this leads to greater health problems such as cancers. Almost everything we can do with a drug can be done safely with natural means. ( with a few exceptions)

Citations, please? I'd especially like to see a source for this "toxicity" claim.

Based on those two things I don't see any evidence for him being a 'medical crackpot'.

The false alarm thing I have no knowledge of.

So, since you agree with Mercola's anti-vaccine/anti-drug/anti-food rhetoric, you simply dismiss the third bullet-item and refuse to look further into the references I offered.

I have learned you cant trust everything you read on wikipedia or quackwatch.

Which is why I cite Wikipedia only when it contains sufficient external references -- The Mercola page includes several dozen.

The primary entry on QuackWatch for Mercola is a reference to FDA (Food and Drug Administration) warnings issued for "illegal claims for products sold through his web site". (I.e., Claims of treatment for cancer and Alzheimer's.)

That being said, if you read the science behind the problem with vaccines. If not enough to down right scare you at least it would make you question their safety.

I have read the science behind vaccines, and as with anything we put on or in our bodies, there is risk versus benefit. The proven benefits of modern vaccines heavily outweighs the risk.
