Interesting that you have taken an interest in tensegrity doc. I can accept that mechanical stresses will change nuclear or cytoplasmic gene expression. However, what does the gene expression do? Is it to oppose external stresses or do the genes affect a whole subset pleiotropically? Sorry I was late with the response but I had to mark exam papers with a short turnover time.

Hey mate,
Have you tried using bone conducting headphones?
When you are out on your bike, you can hear the music and listen out for traffic as well.
I bought a set, but the volume is not great. However, they work.

HOORAY - I AM A GRANDAD! Three years of gloom are pierced by a light in the form of my granddaughter. I am over the moon with joy!

Thank you guys - I feel positive and happy. Age is a number and I don't feel like I am an old grandad and the best part is that I get to hand her over to her real parents after playing with her. Bliss! Zapatos and Moontanman, good luck when you join the grandad club, I cannot describe this feeling completely.

I hope and pray you will get better mate. And that the pain decreases to a tolerable and controllable level so that you can think clearly again. I look forward to your posts. I find heavy rock music to be cathartic when in pain....

Now retired early after 22 years of Science teaching. Emotional farewell to classes last week. No time for leisure - bills still have to be paid!

Thank you zapatos. I went back to the school today just to look at it and remember all the fun experiments I did there. It was my chance to say goodbye but I still felt a tug to the heartstrings. I will be now hanging my "arse out of the window" as they say in Scotland by going into the tutoring business.

“Some of you say, “Joy is greater than sorrow,” and others say, “Nay, sorrow is the greater.” But I say unto you, they are inseparable. Together they come, and when one sits alone with you at your board, remember that the other is asleep upon your bed.”

ajb - I din't realise what a genius you were. I am at the level of a slime mould in comparison to you when it comes to Physics/Maths. My field is Biology so I had no expertise in your field. In fact, going beyond GCSE Physics is a strain for me. But in Biology I have worked up to Postdoc level so I think I can just about cope although there are brilliant Biologists in this Forum. My post was to figure out using people with expertise to tell me if scalar EM waves and weather alteration and death rays are a possibility that's all.

An end of an era. Now weaned off metal tunes.

blike - we seem to have some posts where people are not willing to teach each other basics. We cannot assume that everyone is a graduate here, although there is a lot of brilliance. We are all learners in different areas and we should be willing to teach and learn from others. I thought I knew a bit about Biology but I am blown away by the sheer brilliance of people on this Forum. Well done guys but teach me stuff - I am dumb.

Can you please move my cold fusion is it a pseudoscience? from Pseudocience to General Physics and see if it generates more interest from connoisseurs please. Thanks

Cap'n, howdy. I need a favour, I have cocked up soething crucial when responding to the isogamy/anisogamy question about Spirogyra. Could you allow me to edit it or do I need an extra post?

First week of school is over. It starts again! I did go easy on the pupils and ate lots of chocolate...

Great and good luck with the PhD. I have been in that world as a Postdoc as well and found that if you are not in a leadership position by the age of 36, you are too expensive to fund as a researcher so I took up teaching instead. If you ever want to take a year out to come to London and teach, I will recommend you highly and you can spend a year enjoying a tour of the UK and experience teaching and earning some money at the same time. But, of course, pursue your dreams first. Take it easy and keep making those excellent videos.

Hi mate - you seem to have a lively intelligence and interest in many topics

I am giving up metal and rock and now listening to dub and gentle tunes
-
I am slowly getting into prog rock as well as reggae and dub now. I haven't given up on metal yet.
