  1. Forgive me if I ask this' date=' but what do you mean by circuit design stage? /QUOTE']

I meant that you had designed your circuit as you said you had the schematic and that you just needed to turn that into a pcb layout. :)

  2. Not wanting to second guess YT2095 but I think miracleblue is still at the circuit design stage. I would say the first task is to draw the circuit components bug/pin side up then try to route all the tracks without them crossing. Try to condense things down as far as possible but remember to leave room around hot components and think about track width acording to the amount of current being carried. You should try to keep tracks as short as possible to avoid interference on small signal/rf tracks. Try to keep the tracks as staight as possible and make turns at right angles. This makes the cicuit easier to trace if needed. If you prefer and the software you are using will double invert the diagram, you could design the board from the component side but I personaly think its best to do it bug side. Remember you can use components to bridge tracks provided it will not cause interference. Once you have your board design you can then do the pcb lay out from that but you may need to move things a bit as when you place ic pads and tracks down they may take more room than you expect. When you have the design completed check everything again and again very carefully untill you are sure you have followed your original circuit design accurately, its boring but do it anyway. Then if you have the facilities use YT2095's method as its much easier. If not you will need to use transfers which is quite easy as the pads are spaced correctly and the track transfers are straight. If not you may have to use an etch resist marker pen to manualy draw you whole circuit. If using the pen or transfer method remember to clean the copper cladding with an abrasive rubber before putting anything on it.

  3. From my own experience with school I can say that science lessons put me off. I looked forward to taking science through out the later part of junior school as the lessons in junior school were futile as I had already learned everything out of my own interests. Then came in my opinion pointless wasted hours sat in a room with tutors that didn't understand what they were teaching. An example would be a lesson on polymers. Make nylon its a polymer it has long chain molecules. Only the name of one chemical was known and there was no information available on what happened at an atomic level. Pointless.

  4. If you are trying to do what I think... Make the gas chamber as thin as possible and use mirrors to scan the beam directly into the gas. Switch the beam on/off for each pixel. The beam hits the first mirror which is rotating which causes the beam to scan left/rightcontstantly, this scaning beam hits a second rotating mirror with its axis at 90 degrees to the first so it also scan up/down constantly. The mirrors would best be multi faceted. It may be better to use a stepper motor geared down to drive at least one :) mirror so you don't get an angular scan. Both mirrors on steppers will make it easier to syncronise with image input and the rise fall time of the laser and inputs. I believe gold to be a good reflector of ir. The mirrors will need to be close together. You may find mirrors the right shapes if you can scavenge some broken laser printers. These will also yeild steppers and possibly driver chips but the chips may be integrated with other things so it can be difficult. Hope this helps.

  5. Without seeing her myself its hard to form a conclusion. The one picture I have seen seems to show a happy if disabled person but , that might be a picture chosen to give that impression. I say if she is not suffering keep her alive.

  6. Thanks for that info Blackfin and Mokele. I know some effort has been made with recordings of dolphins but I realy meant to see and hear everything the dolphin does from its point of view might give more success. Like a dolphin hears vocal noise and then you see where it looks what it does etc. It would mean having a device on th dolphin for a long time and either transmitting the info back to a recorder or recovering a recording later. The longer the observation the better. For example if you spoke swedish and I wanted to figure out your language in the same way, you might say apple and glance at an apple. The apple might not be centered in your field of vision but a bus is so, I think from from this short observation that the swedish word for apple means bus. Now add in sonar and it might mean you were looking at an object behind the bus like a lamp post, so I could be even further from the answer. You may have just made reference to an apple but not be able to see an apple. This is why I think a long term study is required. If seventy percent of the time you said apple you then picked up an apple or an apple was in your field of view or even the person you said apple to then picked up an apple, I could be more certain I had the correct meaning. Thats why I also said two recordings to interaction between two dolphins.:) Just thought I would clarify my meanings. Not very successfull was I :D

  7. Where would be the best place to swim with wild dolphins and when. If I get enough cash together I would like to try it. Are they generaly safe to swim with ( wife and two children to take into account ). I think to learn their language you would need to be with them in the wild for long periods and see everything they do including sonic imaging. I don't know if the technology is available but if two recorders could be attached to two dolphins in a pod with video audio and sonic information being recorded from the dolphins point of view I dont see why we could not learn their language. I suppose a robot might be kinder but it wouldn't give the right view point.

  8. Please read the first post as this is not to do with the original question.

About the point of origin. Would there be a difference in the rate of expansion further from the point of origin in as far as, the matter at the outer part of the original explosion has had more time to expand and should be less dense and also, the matter closer to the origin would exert a greater slowing force on its closer neighbours.?

  9. This is realy quite sad so sit down before you read on.

Do a search on adhesive forums. Seriously, they are out there. I found one when I was looking for a supply of a car care product. They are forums like this one about glue lol. :D Might be able to find some stuff on those.

  10. Quite ironicaly, I have just started a tropical aquarium today. Just turned the light on now. These clam doofers, is it bio luminesence or just a strangely coloured reflective surface. It looks like the later from the earlier link. What would I feed these things besides the fish I just bought.

  11. They are actually worse. This is another case where "progress" is false and we actually loose functionality, quality or both because the industry exploits the fact that people are stupid. CRT monitors have reached a very high level of perfection (study DOT PITCH for example), the monitor I am writing with is 5 years old and has a quality and image that is light years ahead of any plasma, or lcd display and it would even cost less than a 100 dollars. But the industry can't make much money on them anymore so they are shoving down everyones thoat all the CRAPPY flat screens that have horrible quality from all the technical points of view. Another example of we going backwards instead of forwards, like the fact that tone controls are getting rarer to find on stereos.
I agree that the insentive for producing these new types of vd are market driven but, the dpi bit is mainly a problem with the broadcast resolution. I have an lcd tv which has double the vertical lines and thirty percent more horizontal lines. This is only any use when viewing images that supply the extra lines but interpolation improves on even normal broadcasts. Also remember that moniters for computers are usualy viewed close up and tvs from a distance. I think plasma is a bad idea from a power consumption and reliability / repairability point of view though.
  12. Don't throw out that old lcd display. If the back lights gone or is weak you can still use lcd part of the display to make a projection tv. You will also need an old projector like the school ones. You will need a video output from your dvd/sky box etc that can be connected to the display input like svideo and, the screen obviously needs to be able accept that kind of input. You may also need to place a dumy load on the circuit in place of the back light as some of the driver circuits look for this load before they will operate. Just thought I mention this as it could make a nice project with a cool result. If anyone is interested I'll put up some more info. :)

  13. I have experienced this but only with short image burts rather than complete sections of audio. I usualy have a dream with just one image or half a second of motion which, is in a light circle surrouded by blackness. It might be something stupid like foot at an odd angle in a place we've never been but, it always comes true.

  14. It might be simpler to use a crank with two stop positions 180 degrees apart. A micro switch at each side of a disc mounted on the crank drive shaft, the disc acts as a cam and hits or releases the switch at window open, window closed positions. The micro switches are momentarily bypassed (by relay from control circuit ) and the cam disc releases the actuator which closes that switch and supplies power to the motor until the second micro switch is hit by the cam disc ( micro switches in series with each other and motor supply ).

  15. The problem with this theory is how strange the crashes are. For example, about five World War II planes were found on the ocean floor. The strange thing is that they were all very close together, and each crash happened on a different day. That should say that there is something special about that specific area inside the triangle. I don't know whether or not it is a gateway to another world, or a heavy concentration of methane gas. Neither has been proven incorrect, so it would be unscientific to rule out one or the other.
Were they looking for each other. If one crashed into the sea the others might have flown the same coarse to find the previous ones. If the gas release was sustained over a few days but at a lower rate it would still be enough to stall an engine in a low flying plane. The lower density, would probably work with the higher density of the surounding water, to pull anything that sank within the surface release area to the source on the sea bed. Only guess work but worth a though me thinks.
  16. Provided there are underware changing facilities on board and I win the lottery I'll be in the queue. The name of it worries me though. I get the image of sitting there smilling contently and then, up pops a window saying "The main fuel valve has experienced a problem and needs to close. Do you want to tell god about this problem. Send prayer report now YES/NO."

  17. I'm nitpicking' date=' but I think you meant: The area is one of two on the planet where magnetic north and true north coincide.

If so, are you sure there are only two? If not, ??????[/quote'] You are correct. But the magnetic pole does shit around a bit too. Most experienced navigators would not be bothered by this but I think people new to it would be tempted to compensate when was not needed but, a magnetic storm would stuff anybody. I was just trying to acount for every possible cause I could think of.

  18. Pockets of methane stored in the sea bed in the form of ice are uncovered by under water land slides. The water content of the ice is minimal and it melts quickly and easily. The release of large quantitys of gas into the water lowers its density and therefore boats and their contents sink like a brick. They can be covered by the sea bed if the geological activity contnues after they sink. The area is one of two on the planet where a compass points to north instead of magnetic north. Also the weather paterns in the area are prone to electric storms which can cause electromagnetic disturbances to navigational instruments up to 30 miles from the cloud formations of the storm. The sea can have fog banks with ionic charges which also give a spooky feel to events and can disrupt radio and cause light anomalies. The gas release can starve engines of oxygen and make them cut out. Just a series of circumstances giving a twighliight zone effect to the area. Well thats what I thunk.
