  1. Read the post by Psycho, yourdadonapgogs. He was talking about the chat mounted on the peripherals. But a microphone would work, unless you needed to be super stealthy.
  2. Hey, antimatter's got valid points. If you've ever looked down the sights of an airsoft or paintball gun, you'll know that your vision's focused directly on your target. Also, your peripherals aren't good at determining what something is, but they are good at detecting movement. Therefore, you'd see people moving on the HUD and team chat, but you couldn't see exactly where they where and what your teamates are saying (BTW, how would they enter letters?). Kinda obsolete in my opinion.
  3. I've always been puzzling over this, and I know it seems silly at first, but do violent videogames really make people more aggressive? Answers can be based on studies or opinion. Thanks everyone.
  4. As I recall, I think two different eyes is a genetic defect in which one eye received a bit more pigmentation than the other, so the colors are different.
  5. I wish it were true *sigh.* I'm not sure that such an HUD would be practical, but hey, we're all hoping. However, it's interesting to note that the military is developing the "Future Force Warrior" (maybe what markus.dnd was talking about). If you want to find out more, google it and click on the first link.
  6. Yeah, I get what you mean (Only problem is that HAL is not Samus). But you do agree that the technology could be converted to a prosthetic?
  7. Did you look at the link? It's more of an exoskeleton. Sure it's not a quite a prosthetic, but its much more than a mere wheelchair. I was just thinking that HAL technology could be coverted into a prosthetic.
  8. Already been done by the HAL series exoskeleton prosthetic. It snses electrical impulses on the skin from the wearer's brain. For more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HAL_5
  9. It's more energy-efficient to bike, and a lot of streets ban segway use on the sidewalks and public places, unless you're a police officer. Besides, segways don't give excerisize. Remember, don't be a sac of potential energy, be kinetic energy!
  10. I've got a few: Uranium is weakly magnetic. It can be used for nuclear reactions. (duh!) It is only slightly radioactive in its natural state. It's dense and can be made into highly penetrative bullets in the military (kinda odd)
  11. What's the difference between the three and what are the advantages of each? Thanks! (I just know that this is some dumb question that slipped my mind)
  12. There is no light in a black hole, hence the name. I suppose you could take a picture of one, but it'd just be an entirely black photo.
  13. For an actual image: For a good diagram:
  14. What do you call the glass?, 'cause I'd like to buy some. Great Idea!
  15. I don't know too much about it, but that's true for the rest of the world. Scientists (I'll give the short version) think that it was some freak chemical reaction of hydrogen, carbon, and oxygen, which formed complex chains of proteins, which started the first organisms.
  16. Just clarfiying everything. It's difficult to describe time. However, it is supposed to curve onto itself, creating a wormhole.
  17. Yeah, but listing everything makes everything clearer. And besides, you're avoiding the question.
  18. A worthy response. But I'd classify them as closer to non-living. They are simple capsules with DNA in them. The only thing they do is execute programed instructions when ivading a cell. What do you think, eh?
  19. Sometimes. But I naturally keep my thoughts to myself in public (not the forums!). If they don't get it, I'm not too irritated about it. Maybe I'm just weird, or I'm not intelligent enough to feel too much of a difference?
  20. Picture time as a line. Right now, you are moving slower than light, so the line advances straight. The faster you move, the more the line bends, causing time to move forward slower. When you move faster than light, time will bend back upon itself, and you will be back in time. Now, if only we had a Star Wars hyperdrive . . .
  21. Sorry, but humans can't live forever. At the start of your life, you produce more cells than those that are dying. Therefore, you grow. At mid-age, the production and death-rate is around the same, so you don't grow anymore. When you get old, stem cells, which are needed to produce other cells, start dying, so more cells are dying than being created. Eventually, something's gotta go. But theoretically, if all organs are maintained carefully, you could live for a long time until you've got too few cells. Also, immortality could be achieved by using stem cells to grow replacement organs.

    Virus=Life?

Are viruses alive? Consider the following: Living things -Use energy (food) -Move on their own -Reproduce on their own -Exchange gases (breathing) -Respond to stimuli -Grow -Make waste Viruses can respond to stimuli (hijacking a cell) and kind of reproduce by forcing the cell to do it, but now on their own. Some scientists say they are alive, some say they can't be because they don't fit all the criteria. What's your view?
  23. Erm, I'm kinda rusty on this, but I recall 7 things that all living things must have to be considered "alive": -Must use energy. This includes eating -Must be able to reproduce -Must be able to move on its own, in some way. -Must breath, or exchange gases (even microorganisms do this) -Must grow -Must respond to stimuli -Must produce some form of waste
  24. I don't think there's any correlation between intelligence and happiness. Sure, intelligence may put more strain on you because you may have more obligations, but does that mean you can't be a happy, intelligent person? Can a person of lower intelligence not feel depressed?
  25. Maybe I could attach and LED at the tip of the blade, one in the center, and one in the hilt. Since I'm using tranluscent PVC, it should contain the light, making it seem white in the center while giving the mystical halo.
