I'd counter. If a man will only be happy on his boat, and he needs a suitable boat, he needs the money to purchase and maintain that boat. Some things that bring happiness do cost money!
You miss-understand what contentment means, happiness is an emotion and like all emotion it can only be fleeting, whilst contentment transcends emotion.
