  1. Which forum would unicorns prance cutely and with spirit into? You might do better with rum.
  2. Your reply is typical of those who have not received faith that God can do anything, including preserving in perfect form one book. Would you doubt a PHD if he says he has translated a tablet found burried in the sand of Babylon? Probably not.
  3. Unicorns almost certainly existed in the form presented in children's books. The imagery is too powerful and consistant through ages and cultures to be myth. We cannot know the number or form of creatures which have gone extinct.
  4. My objection to Iggy is his subtle use of the word "warped". He was definitely being either consciously or subconsciously insulting, which has seemed almost a 'standard' in internet discussion forums although I think I possibly detect a change in the way people are relating to each other on the internet the closer we come to the 2012 calendar date which many people think means the end of the world. Peter, your presentation of the idea that 'all particles are in the same place and time' is significant as it would explain non-locality. Thanks. Your entire post is excellent, Tar2, but your last sentence is most important. The Big Bang theory has, whether most adherants admit it or or not, become dogma in the religion of Big Bangism rather than . "Dogma is the established belief or doctrine held by a religion, or by extension by some other group or organization. It is authoritative and not to be disputed, doubted, or diverged from, by the practitioners or believers." "Religion is a collection of cultural systems, belief systems, and worldviews that establishes symbols that relate humanity to spirituality and, sometimes, to moral values." The religion and dogma of Big Bangism puts abrupt end to the concept in your sentence, "Science, as far as I have observed it, says only that THIS particular thinkable thing works out to be consistent with reality so far, but we will keep on testing THIS, in every way we can think of." Evidence to support this is found in the first sentence of the first paragraph of almost every book or magazine article on cosmology which I have read in the last 20 or 30 years, 'The Big Bang formed the universe as we know it ..." in those words or other words meaning the same thing.
  5. I don't want to put words in your mouth, but a better phrasing of your sentence would be "... and so instantaneous transmission of information SEEMS impossible." I've admitted in this forum and in others that I'm short on what is considered concrete knowledge, but I have managed to hang onto my certainty that all things are possible in the realm of physics.
  6. Yes there is evidence .. a European experiment seperated by tens of miles two cloned particles and stimulated one which instantly stimulated the other identically. I don't remember having read in literature published in the past century or this that gravity and electromagnetism were thought to be non-local instantaneous actions. It is refreshing, Refsmmat, that you say "There is currently no evidence to suggest it's possible to transmit information across the universe faster than light." Your statement allows for evidence to be gathered in the future, which is a change from normal dogmatic postings on normal science forums, those normal postings saying "It is impossible for information to travel faster than light."
  7. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pascual_Jordan Is Pascual Jordan so unpublicized because he joined the Nazi Party like tens of millions of Germans in his time, or because his theory says a singularity is not needed to create the Universe as presented in the widely accredited Big Bang? "A star can be made out of nothing at all because at point of zero volume its negative gravitational energy precisely cancels out its positive mass energy." Jordan. Furthermore, are Jordans 'quantum fluctuations' by which he said matter is created merely the addition of tiny bits of Time to the tiny bits of Space as presented in Loop Quantum Gravity?
  8. Space does appear to be plastic .. Spin Foam plastic according to Loop Quatum Gravity. Strip time out of space and I think everything would just stop moving .. in fact everything might disappear, as it seems time is essential to material being. Are Pascual Jordan's quantum fluctuations which he says create matter simply bits of time perhaps?
  9. Consensus becomes unethical to science when it become consensus. Consensus becomes a brick wall with no door. Consensus leads quickly to theories being publicized as fact (Big Bang for instance.) Consensus is a very sad state of affairs.
  10. The book of Romans (new testament) says that "everything that can be known of God can be known through the things of the natural creation."
  11. In the old testament the priests were ordained by the law of Moses .. in the new testament they are ordained by the blood of Jesus Christ.
  12. O is the only number which is infinite. "A star can be made out of nothing at all because at point of zero volume its negative gravitational energy precisely cancels out its positive mass energy." Pascual Jordan, one of the fathers of quantu7m mechanics, friend of Einstein
  13. The world could accept huge amounts of economic downturn without doing much harm to anyone except those whose life consists of material toys, for instance most of us in Canada, the U.S.A., Europe, Russia, etc.
  14. You're right .. thank you .. classical mechanics might be imperfect, as evidenced by the possible straying of the two probes which appeared to be 'off course' part way into the trip of departure from our solar system. I don't understand what you mean by "it is conceptually impossible to prove true and it has been falsified." I don't know what the 'it' is that you're talking about.
  15. If time can be warped, time travel seems even more possible. I used to think maybe time was actually created by the spinning mass of galaxies. It still seems possible, even more so if time is actually plank length bits as loop quantum gravity predicts.
  16. Without looking up the meanings of those words I would say they are the same. Okay, I looked up the meanings in Wikipedia, and while some people will argue the meanings are distinct from each other, in my opinion they basically amount to the same thing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loop_quantum_gravity
  17. Ophilioite and Baric .. discuss away. I presented what I wished to present, said what I wished to say. Have fun.
  18. There is no onus on me for anything. I am not feeling victimized. I will only remind you that at one time strict consensus taught strictly that there were only three states of matter, vapour, gas, solid .. then came quasi crystals .. at least, that's what I seem to remember from the original article i read on quasi crystals. The discoverer of quasi crystals WAS victimized, by Linus Pauling no less. These conversations are personal to me, as I grieve while people discard their curiousity and sense of true science for Consensus, pride and gratification that they got 'something' out of the money they spent on education. The present understanding of phases of ice and water can be perhaps likened to an iceberg .,. a tip on the surface, the mass beneath.
  19. I don't have endless time so will respond to only two of your comments. Getting us to the moon proves classical nmechanics true. There may be things we don't understand yet, like quantum mechanics, but that does not mean classical mechanics is not true. The theory has been well tested and well proven. You read posts too quickly, i did not say "scientists are dogmatic," I said some scientists are dogmatic, or can become dogmatic. I don't have enough time to reread my exact words. Yes, you make sense. That is good, but it doesn't mean there is no trail through the mountains. In time, someone will probably find a trail through the mountains. Until then, the consensus road around the mountains theory is changed in the minds of some scientists to the ONLY answer because it's the one they were taught, in fact, they can forget the original search. That is not good. Please note that I said "changed in the minds of SOME scientists" and not ALL scientists. Please believe me that I have my own difficulties remaining open minded, but in my experience not NEARLY as difficult as some scientifically minded people, in particular, those who have a little knowledge only but who think themselves more highly than they should, and there are many of them. I experience that effect on every discussion forum I go into, and not just scientific forums.
  20. Exactly as Aristarchus was rejected because of established observations. Exaclty as Linus Paling rejected Quasi Crystals because of established observations. Thank you, Imatfaal.
  21. There can be absolutely no doubt that man's activities are contributing to global warming, the only question is how much. We have hundreds of millions or billions of: heat creating motor vehicles, clothes washers and dryers, toasters, home heating units, light bulbs, acres of pavement which generate heat instead of green growth, rooftops which generate heat instead of green growth, airplanes, busses, trains, campfires. Absolutely no doubt.
  22. Quantum Loop Gravity predicts that they are seperate but 'interwoven.'
