  1. Are these smaller than they seem in the picture?
  2. So beautiful. Also put up some of Australia when you get the time That guy is tiny
  3. Despite all the insulting things you've said, I think you genuinely are annoyed about my perspective on life. So I appreciate your advice.
  4. Ouch. That is terrible advice. Alcohol and sex are not substitutes for dealing with reality. That only leads to dependencies, addictions, low self esteem, shallow relationships, disrespect for others and disrespect for yourself. I hope no one reading this takes your advice. It is incredibly dangerous advice.
  5. Hi pmb. Hoping you feel alright. I see that you're from MA. I've been to Boston before to visit a friend, had such a great time. Loved it! I'm from CT, btw.

I see that you have a degree in physics and math... that's awesome. What was your career path?

  6. I can break down my taste in music into these categories; Shoe-gaze and 80's rock. Things like Spacemen 3, New Order, The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Cure, Echo & the Bunnymen. Something about it reminds me of being a lonely, romantic youth wandering the halls of my high school on a rainy day. This is because it's all I listened to at the time. Classical Indian music. There is something so magical and otherworldly about sitars. Electronic Music. Only kinds that either A.) Sound like you're floating through space. Even though space would really not sound anything like that. But you get what I mean. or B.) Use tons of disco samples. Australian electronic bands. I have a strange affinity for these for no apparent reason. Also music involving steel drums. Not only did Disney movies terrorize and brainwash me, but I think I owe my steel drum fascination to the Little Mermaid. But I'm not sure. This could just be me being paranoid. Almost forgot 8-bit music.
  7. You should go on chat more, kid.

  8. I completely agree. I pos repped it yesterday to counter :/
  9. Nice post. Welcome to the forums, btw. I'm assuming Polednice brought you here?
  10. That to me isn't awe inspiring. It's just reality. I don't know what that means.
  11. Edit rewording some terrible wording. Nowadays those same urges manifest into things that are acceptable. I don't see how eliminating religion will also eliminate the behavior of adhering irrationally to beliefs. When is that ever acceptable?
  12. But as one who values evidence, do you ignore the evidence behind human nature? That it is also our duty to irrationally adhere to beliefs and refuse to let them go? Then why is such little patience given?
  13. No, I appreciate you genuinely wanting to help and your wonderfully written posts. Obviously, as it is apparent in my other posts, I just find it offensive to profess "religion must die". So therefore, I asked why someone who is so against authoritativeness would outwardly say something like that, when someone who doesn't commit any crime and wants to observe a religion should very well have the right to do as they please without criticism.
  14. Oh man, iNow. I also like to live without an authority telling me that the concept of meaning or no meaning is silly. Who are you to tell me I cannot find value in my definition of God?
  15. That's why we spend time thinking about things and drawing lines that may not be perfect but do a good job. Just because Stalin was an atheist doesn't mean I think you share ANY of his other views. Theism is much too vague and a lot of theists don't do anything that deserves the kind of disrespect you shell out. Just because you feel like associating them all together doesn't mean it's right. That is dishonest. Punish those who deserve punishment. Stop preaching.
  16. You're right. They aren't mutually exclusive so you can stop punishing religious crime while imposing your ideologies as well. Stop throwing around the same terms and hiding behind accusations of fallacies. You know what I'm asking. Face up and stop avoiding it.
  17. And that is all the truth. I don't see how that makes me depressed. Yes. I don't see why it's problematic. Offer me a better solution aside from personal self-fulfilment and I will walk away a richer human. To set the highest goals I can think of? I already stated them, as possibly consciously living life with the sole intention of preventing pain in others, because there is no point of anything else. You see this as negative.
  18. You develop values based on your purpose in life. You don't have a purpose because of values. I can see why valuing the death of prostitutes can be criticized because it's illegal. I don't understand why you can tell me I cannot value meaning from an external source.
  19. I've been discussing the highest purpose I think life can have. Your rejection of my answer to the question doesn't mean there is any kind of problem. That is ignorance.
  20. Oh man. I've witnessed a similar situation. You are a very strong person to just be here right now. I'm sorry you're in so much pain and can't get any relief.
  21. You're right. Maybe if my laptop, plumbing, stove, iphone, etc. were removed I wouldn't be so apathetic. I guess there have been some pretty amazing humans to have lived and I should appreciate sharing this planet with them, if anything. Tar, you always have really well thought out posts that are not only very true, but comforting in a sense. I think they are always well done. I do not mention it enough. Thanks.
  22. Slavery violates human rights. Many people don't violate any human rights by practicing their belief in "God". What's the goal here? To prohibit the crimes committed by religious extremists or to just impose your ideology on others?
