The Notre-Dame cathedral is burning down right this minute. It is sad to watch an 850 year old monument go up in smoke. Apparently the big wooden steeple which was 70 meters high was constructed with lots of lead elements so as soon as the structure caught minor heat it all went like domino. I’ve been to Paris twice and never had a chance to see the cathedral, stupid me.

Yea it was a male. It got very aggressive - but I think it was sport for it rather than territorial fighting. It's forehead was like a 3 inch thick steel plate. It ate EVERYTHING. My dad put it on the allotment to clear all the long grass and brambles etc. Easier than manual labour - just leave the goat tethered to a patch you want cleared and come back later - it would eat the lot.
I swear it thought it was a baby train. It certainly sounded like one and felt like one when it charged you, lol. 'mee mah'!
The female one you had sounds a lot more pleasant as a pet.

I too had a goat, chickens, cats, dogs and rabbits... but never owned a horse. :0)
I was a child when we had the goat - they like to play fight with their siblings in the wild... I used to love it - we'd regularly wrestle... This was fine when it was a kid... but they can get quite big (depending on breed) and start kicking and biting. As I got older I no longer wanted to wrestle it as it started to kick the shit out of me, lol, but it never wanted to do anything else. When it was in a fighting mood the safest play was to headlock it and hold it there until you found a way to escape. It never saw another goat and we moved it to my dads allotment next to the railway. After a while it started to mimick the "mee mah!" of the trains that went past. lol - it was a character.

@koti It's not just cat violence - it's any cruelty to animals really that isn't for survival purposes. I don't want to be a hypocrite though - I hunted when I was younger and shot a bird I wasn't going to eat. I think I've learnt the error of my ways though. I also kill some bugs, flys and mozzies if they bother me.
I don't understand some people's hatred for cats, dogs, foxes, squirrels or certain birds. They seethe with hatred for them and it is dumb imo - they are lovely animals.

My cousin Jeff Stewart died this morning. Jeff was more than a cousin, he was my brother in so many ways, the way only a real brother can be. One of the few people I have ever known who was basically a good person no matter what situation he found himself in. It's difficult to wrap my head around the fact a world can exist without Jeff in it.

It's astonishing the kind of responses that my first posting got in less than a day! someone just wrote "the proof is dead". What proof? I'm not trying to prove duality of subatomic particles here... I'm saying for the first time that there's an incompatibility between space and energy that's responsible for the electric-magnetic nature of electrons... that EM waves are not formed or produced from the "thin air" as physics is trying to imply. I'm offering a process neither I nor anyone at this stage of age can prove. I'm explaining the infinite fractional nature of space within the volume of the sphere. What some geniuses here can't visualize is that a mathematical point in 3D space is a SPHERE too. Physics is ignoring the role of the irrationality of pi in the context of the FABRIC of space; not space-time since that is just a concept invented to justify reality based on our limited means for observation (the speed of light is the limit).
Why don't you take a minute or two to read in my awful English the point that I try to make instead of jumping to spit your opinions without even thinking? I'm amazed of these science forums and their civility.

this is my point:
I don't see how I can replay from my posting but I thank you for you comments. I simply have a thought concerning the repercussions of ignoring the message (the physical message to be more accurate) of disregarding the irrational nature of the most applied math constant in science pi. I based my theory of infinite fractional space and its incompatibility in the presence of quantized energy and matter. Planck's experiments with the black box proved that energy at the smallest manifestation comes in quanta. If you take a look at how energy and matter manifest themselves in the universe (without external limitations) you'll fins a common pattern: THE SPHERE. water drops, subatomic particles, planets, atoms, stars... all spheres in three dimensional space, and this is a fact. When you take a closer look at the equation that calculates the sphere you find the mathematical constant pi in it... that's another fact. If I keep adding (inserting) decimals endlessly into the equation, the volume of the sphere keeps increasing only that into a "microscopic" magnitudes... this is another fact. The increasing volume goes into inward infinite and that's why I called it 'fractional infinite of space' another fact. Electrons according to their latest photographic observations are spheres...in fact perfect spheres to say it clearly. the fuzzy cloud around them gets thinner as it spreads to the outer edges of the sphere, that's another fact too. Can you see my point now?

I know for a fact that I do not remember dreaming much usually - when I stop smoking for a few days (yea, OK Prometheus, you got me there - I think you know what) I definitely start dreaming a lot more vividly. Maybe I just remember it more, but I don't think so - I think I dream more lucidly without smoke.

Just a speculative thought as I have no knowledge of such things - both of the movements in our dreams were quick reaction movements.. Maybe whatever causes our brains to kick our bodies into action for a quick response for a fast reaction to something pushes through whatever chemical/biological mechanism is paralysing you in your sleep. Adrenalin maybe?

I once dreamed I was playing cricket - fielding in the slips. I went to dive for a reaction catch and my arm shot out and knocked my full glass of water off of my bed side table along with the lamp and everything else on there.
I had been playing cricket too around that time. You haven't been chased by the police a lot recently have you? lol

Tried to rescue a Bee today... I am way too soppy... I fished it out of a pool of water that was probably alkaline due to the cement. I hope the little fella/girl is OK. I put it on a leaf over the fence but it fell into the bushes. It seemed to have some strength left in it so it might survive. Just gotta leave it and hope it survives - it probably has more chance in the bushes than it did in the cement water.
I do this a lot with bees - I never know if they survive or not... some are just too weak. I have tried sugar solution in the past with varying successes and fail rates - Sometimes they tuck in and sometimes they are too far gone..
I guess every little helps.

being fair - I think it is them that are eating all the wood louse - there are shells all over the floor in the entrance room. :-/ I clear them up from time to time but they come back - I guess I'd rather have a few hidden spiders in the place doing their thing rather than have the place crawling with wood lice.
My scalp has gone all itchy just thinking about it. :-/

woar! phfew! Yea - That's the one! Blimey! When I saw them in my home it was weird - I didn't get the usual goosebumps, fear and arachnophobia...(that I'm getting now looking at that picture) it was more of a strange fascination... I'd not seen one that big before outside of a zoo. It was bigger than a mouse and I'm not scared of mice or rats. Odd... however, and I feel a bit bad about it, but somehow I couldn't leave it to have free run in my home. There are probably several of them in my house that stay hidden.

8-D I don't think it was 14 cm!... more like 8 to 10 and maybe 5 or 6 wide. I'd never seen one as big as it before though.... until about a year later and there was another one... then the one that got eaten by the spindly one. They were all about the same size... 8 to 10 cm I reckon.
I hope I don't see a 14cm one! lol Not sure I've got a glass big enough to catch it.... Bigger than a bloody mouse!
