  1. Does the larger density (water) push the smaller density upward and stay at the bottom? This acetone at the top would cause the equation to shift right to add H2O to make up for the ones that were consumed and cause it to be blue, but remain pink on the bottom because it was pink to start with?
  2. I did a lab on it using the equation: Co(H20)6^2+ + 4Cl- <=> CoCl4^2- + 6H2O pink^ blue^ When acetone was added to the H2O it consumed some H2O so i expected it to shift right to add more H2O and fix the equilibrium thus turning blue! but only half turned blue (top half, the bottom remained pink) Why? I really don't know where to start except to say acetone is less dense.
  3. POSTED THIS IN THE WRONG FORUM. SORRY. I'm a klutz. REPOST. I did a lab and my results showed some inconsistencies. My concentration of 100 units/ml of catalase in H2O2 gave me a slower rated than the 80units/ml. I performed many tests so I don't understand where it could have gone wrong. Any ideas. The 100 units/ml concentration was obtained using 20mls of yeast and the 80 was obtained using 12mls of yeast with 3ml of distilled water. Any hypotheses? Is it because there is sufficient enzymes in both and by shear chance of the substrate getting into an enzyme the 80units/ml had better results?

    Enzymes

But how does it denature? It just breaks the hydrogen bonds? Or is it the ionic bonds?

    Enzymes

You know how varying pH levels can affect the reaction rate of enzymes. Why is this from a molecular standpoint. Do they ions from the enzyme get attracted to the acidic/basic environments and leave the enzyme?
  7. LIKE THIS? e^x + 1/e^x = 3 e^2x -3(e^x)+1=0 Assume A = e^x A^2 - 3A + 1 = 0 Quadratic Formula 3+- sqrt 9-4/2 = A 3+- sqrt5/2 = A Replace 3+sqrt5/2 = e^x x = ln(3+sqrt5/2) = .96 X = ln(3-sqrt5/2) = -.96 im proud i got it!!!!
  8. tbh i have never seen anything like that.
  9. e^x+e^-x=3 i tried xlne+-xlne=ln3 x(1)+-x(1) = ln3 x-x = ln3 but that doesn't work btw the answer is +- 0.96
  10. it was something ridiculous like 3.9 megajoules i dont have it with me right now though
  11. i rounded the units.. maybe the books wrong!
  12. 55.49 mols 40.8 kj/mol 1000g 4.19 kj/g*Celcius 95 degrees celcius
  13. Ill show what I did took the Kg to grams to get moles of water giving me 55.49 moles of water. I then used delta H = 55.49 x 40.8 due to the vaporization giving me 2264 KJ following this i used q =mc delta t 1000g x 4.19 x 95 = 398.05 kj i then added them together and was wrong i think
  14. For example 1 kg of water is heated from 5 degrees C to 100 degrees C to make steam. What's the total energy. I tried q = mc delta t and adding it with delta H = nH but I keep getting it wrong, can someone just show me how to do this one example so I can apply it to my questions.
  15. The question specifically required it. Thanks!
  16. For example: 9y^2 - 6y - 9 - x = 0 What do you do in this case? Thanks!
  17. Hi, does anyone know where to find nice study guides on the subject of macromolecules. I know I could Google, but I would prefer qualified webpages which I would need help finidng. Thanks!
  18. i kind of want people to think when im done. or be surprised. i dont think they'll regard solar panels in that regard... im still searching though! TY for the suggestions Merged post follows: Consecutive posts merged.
  19. I need to present an economic-related article to my finance class! But All the ones I find seem to be uninteresting filled with political language that wouldn't appeal to my age demographic... so is there anything actually captivating about an economic-situation, money, trends, money-making... sites??
  20. Yeah Capn its more so to show we can write in a "journalist like way" and we must come up with a catchy title. I appreciate the suggestions but I found out it had to be school related, so I was thinking 1) Pushing School Starting Hours Ahead to Get More Sleep. Or something. *scratches head*
  21. That's cool. I was kind of thinking of robots replacing humans cuz i saw a nice thread on it here! but that was intr'sting
  22. I have to write a "news article" about anything I want. It can be science-related or not, but I want to make it really interesting the whole way through. Any suggestions?
  23. ohhhh so linear you go to the first difference, quadratic you go to the second difference, and cubic the third i feel so dumb now! thanks!
