For the Earth or for you ?
If for you, Happy Birthday !

Happy birthday! The anniversary of your forceful expulsion from your mother's loins!

  2. Nice cover photo Imatfaal!!!

Thanks.  It is a view from Barf - a fell in England's Lake District; which we are all very fond of but is tiny when compared to the lakes of most of the world.  It is home to England's Highest Peak Scafell Pike at a towering 978m  which again shows how England tends to be on a smaller scale than most of our neighbours and even more so compared to other places on other continents

  3. I actually made a Flat Earther leave a conversation on FB all butt hurt! He even blocked notifications from me on the thread!!!

Gotta be done.  Hopefully the flat-earther will have a sudden dawning recognition that they have been wrong all this time

  4. Let's put all the Anti-vaccers, Flat Earthers, and Moon Hoaxers on several rockets and shoot them into the Sun... We'll inoculate everyone so they don't get sick and die on the way there, we'll make sure they orbit the Earth a few times so they can see that it's a sphere, and then we'll have the rockets fly by the Moon so they can see the lunar landing site but, after all of that, the rockets will take them to the Sun where they will never be able to infect others.

Such people are the least dangerous for people like us. Ten times more dangerous for us are textbook writers who spread misinformation that goes unnoticed by gullible readers (once upon a time I fell in that category).

  5. On a side note, I'm finally moved into my new home, and my internet speeds are a blazing 386 Mbps down / 36 Mbps up. I know it's not the 1 Gbps that a few lucky people get, but it's the fasted available in my area :P

Glad you are up and about - I presume the surgery went well. Are you still convalescing?

I'm finally able to walk using a cane, but I'm getting better everyday. When I'm on my pain medication, I can walk without it. I have about 1.5 more months until I should be fully recovered.

  6. Finally, I'm able to walk pretty good without having to use a cane. Granted, I still need it in the mornings before I take my pain medications, but I'm no longer needing to take the dosage I was having to take. Pain medications can help, but they are also extremely addictive. However, my doctor has been lowering my dosage, and I'm feeling much better.

  7. I go to Norman Regional Healthplex at 7 am tomorrow for my hip replacement. Too bad I won't be awake to record the surgery. Wish me luck!!!

  8. Finally, I'll be having my hip replacment surgery April 21st. I'm not looking forward to having the operation but, if it will stop all this pain, then I'm all for it.

Woot! My doctor has bumped my surgery up to Tuesday, April 18th.

  9. Well, the core decompression surgery did not work. I now have to get a hip replacement. At least I'll be able to sit down at my PC for more than an hour after having the surgery. As it stands now, I'm in constant, excruciating pain. :'(

That sucks, sorry to hear that Daedalus. On the bright side, I have a friend who had the same condition, he's 4 years after the operation (65 years old) and he's good as new. Also be thankful that it's a ball in the hip. Could have been a lot worse ;)

  18. First my brother and now me rofl... I went to step off the porch and my left ankle gave out and I fell. So, I put my hands out to break my fall and end up getting a radial head fracture in my left and right elbow. The right elbow isn't too bad but my left arm is in a splint for a few weeks.

  20. I'm now light years beyond the Collatz conjecture ;) I just proved 5x+1 using the same mathematics that I used to prove 3x+1, which also works for 1x+1. Now, I'm almost done proving 7x+1, and hope to have the proof for m x + 1 by this weekend :D

That's awesome StringJunky. I used to have a a Marshall full stack and a Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier full stack, but we never listened to the radio through them because of the lack of voice coils in the speakers.

    3. Daedalus

      Daedalus

So far, the pattern is holding for odd times X plus one. I'm now working on 9 x + 1. Once I work out the complete proof for odd x + one, I'll try to modify the pattern for O1 times X plus O2.

    4. Daedalus

      Daedalus

However, I already know that O1 x + O2 has cycles for odd integers greater than one if O2 > 1. I just need to determine how many cycles occur.

  21. After a few more pages, I'll be done writing my proof of the Collatz conjecture. I know it has been almost two months since I proved it, but I had to do a lot of research to write this paper. Plus, I still have to work and take care of day to day life. However, I will be posting new software that I'm writing that uses my equation to list all possible trajectories of a given height. This stuff is really awesome, and I even have a reporter from KOCO that wants to do an exclusive on me a...

  22. Just got back from lake Thunderbird where my niece, her boyfriend Owen, and I got to see a spectacular show put on by the universe! The Perseids meteor shower was not disappointing tonight! Tomorrow, I'm going to take my boys out to my dad's place where the light pollution is much lower than at the lake. Tomorrow's viewing should prove to be even better than what we seen tonight.

It was awesome! We seen even more at my dad's place. He lives way out in the country where you can actually see the Milky Way. So, we even seen the faint ones and several meteors that streaked across the entire sky!!!

  23. The elevators in my building have been overhauled and they now have Genuine People Personalities (GPP). Of course, you can tell that they are prototypes, but I didn't realize that OTIS was a subsidiary of the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation.

  24. Well, last Monday, my brother got up again around 12 a.m. while we were all sleeping and fell and broke his left ankle. He now has two broken ankles. :'( After explaining the situation with the hospital's case worker, she recommended that he goes to a nursing home for the next 3 - 6 months so that he can get the proper medical care while his ankles heal.

I appreciate it guys. Thank you! The past few months have been crazy.

  25. Wow!!! What a crazy night. My brother is on new medications for his pain and to help him sleep. Around 12 am last night while everyone was asleep, he got up to get him a drink of water and ended up falling and breaking his right ankle. He eneded up snapping it to the right about 40 degrees. I didn't get to bed until 4 am and had to be up at 7 am to take my niece to school and get to work.

Thanks for the support Sirona and Imatfaal. We've been through worse and will always pull through :D I've just been really worried about him, but he's finally being released from the hospital today. It's been a crazy month where I got rear-ended, seen a collapsed bridge outside the office window, and then my brother breaking his ankle. Crazy things tend to happen in threes :P
