    What is a god?

If there are a few bugs in Microsoft Windows (a lot if you are talking about Vista) does that mean that Microsoft Windows is not an operating system? And, if there are a few bugs in it and other software, should everyone just format their hard drives and write their own OS, XTML and word processing code from scratch?
  2. Does anyone know the species of this mushroom which I found on the on the UT Knoxville campus. Its morphology is curiously suspicious and I suspect that humans might be involved, somehow, in its reproduction.

Pyscho-babble is related to an expression of 'feelings' as used in the context of psychological therapy or psychological jargon. As such, what I wrote was not pyscho babble. For example, we often use the term 'pyscho-babble' in the context of an antonym for the word of God. You are saying that I am lying to cover up other lies, ultimately leading to covering up the existence of God? Precisely what would I gain by lying to you about that or anything else? If I were doing that, what would be in it for me? Being unclear was not my intent. I certainly was not trying to sound wise by intentionally being unclear. However, I hope to become skilled at this so that I can apply it to various projects of more significant magnitude in the future. I've heard that this is how a lot of people get promoted. Thanks for your input. huh? Arrogant? LOL Please explain how believing in God/the Bible is arrogant. PS: for the record, I'm trying to figure out what point(s) YOU are trying to make underneath that vitreous shell. OK. One last time. The bible is like a forest. The words are like trees. The trees grew from seeds in similar manner that the text grew from the living word of God (the owner of the grove/forest). Some of the trees are not perfect. The lack of imperfection has nothing to do with the guy from whom the seeds originally came (God). Any imperfection in the bible or in the forest of trees (aka grove) is due entirely to the drunken landscaper (man). That is what I believe and how in the heck that sounds arrogant is beyond my wildest comprehension. I understand that you don't feel or believe the same way that I do about this and I respect your opinion on this matter. In other words, believe what you want. I'm a libertarian anyway. Moss is not a tree? Are you sure? But, all trees are green therefore all things that are green are trees. And moss is green so.........oh never mind. Anyhow, I never said moss is a forest. I said that some trees have moss on them and the fact that they have moss or another imperfection does not exclude them from being part of the forest. It might make more sense if you learned the meaning of a forest. Websters = Main Entry: 1for·est Function: noun Usage: often attributive Etymology: Middle English, from Anglo-French, from Late Latin forestis (silva) unenclosed (woodland), from Latin foris outside — more at forum Date: 13th century 1 : a dense growth of trees and underbrush covering a large tract 2 : a tract of wooded land in England formerly owned by the sovereign and used for game 3 : something resembling a forest especially in profusion or lushness <a forest of microphones> <a kelp forest> Eg, a forest of microphones are all microphones....and a kelp forest is all kelp. Ie, In a forest the trees do not necessarily need to be wild and the trees do not necessarily have to be different My point was, the error is in man. Not in the tree or the seed (the divine inspiration).

    What is a god?

You are able to read Hebrew AND Aramaic? If so, that is VERY impressive. And I am envious of your abilities. Very VERY impressive. Seriously. I apologize for even debating the issue with you. My ability on this matter no where near approaches anything like that. But I am left somewhat perplexed that you did seem to fully comprehend my statements re foundational basis for Christian beliefs (eg, we are all filthy rags before the Lord, all sinners/equal in his eye, forgiveness, absoluteness in the context of our God/Jehovah/I Am Who I Am....etc). Merged post follows: Consecutive posts merged Now you are arguing semantics for the sake of argument. How about substituting forest for 'grove' of trees? A grove of trees like an apple orchard and a couple of the trees, amongst thousands or millions of Golden Delicious apple trees, are Gala and not Golden Delicious. Now do you get it? The Bible is still true, from my and most Christian's standpoints, even though there might be a couple of trees that are slightly different than the others. And the fault is not with the ground (the foundation of the apple grove), nor the seeds themselves (Gods word) , nor the apple seed vendor nor with the owner of the orchard (God). The fault lies with the dude who planted the trees (man)...he had a couple of beers and accidentally mixed in just a couple of Gala seeds amongst the thousands of Golden Delicious seeds when he planted them. So, the error is NOT found within the soil, nor with the seeds themselves, nor with the owner of the orchard, nor with the seed vendor. The fault lies with the imperfect dude who took the perfect apple seeds and stuck them in the perfect soil. And the worker did not got fired. The owner knew he was a drunkard and made a lot of mistakes. The owner forgave him for his mistakes. He kept him under his employ so that he could buy bread, take care of his family and have a nice retirement (in heaven none the less). And they are all still millions yummy and nutritious apples in that thar orchard.

Are you implying that she will impact music/culture to the same extent that Led Zeppelin has? Or do you mean that one should listen to her after a couple of doobies?

    What is a god?

You probably would agree that there is a forest if all of the trees are exactly alike. Would you still agree that it is a forest if a few of the trees have some moss growing on them?

You must admit that Ms Spears is less remembered for her music than she is for her extracurricular activities. I think that you are severely underestimating the cultural and historical significance of dying on the toilet. In the end its her choice though. Live out her life and be forgotten or take the crapper and live in the minds of her fans forever.

    What is a god?

As Christians, we believe that God IS absolute in power, majesty, authority, love, truth and divinity. So in that context, you are incorrect. I don't understand why you don't know where I got this from because you just repeated what I said. Some parts of the old testament are in Aramaic. Parts of Daniel, Jeremiah and I forget the others. The gospels were written in Greek and Jesus spoke Aramaic. Aramaic is considered to have about as much in common with Hebrew as French has with Spanish. Very few scholars believe that Jesus spoke Hebrew and there is not any evidence to that effect to my knowledge. If someone has any, I would certainly be interested in seeing it. We know that Jesus spoke Aramaic in part because Aramaic was the language spoken in Galilee during that time. Perhaps more importantly, even in the original Greek text, there are clues that Jesus spoke Aramaic, because some of Jesus' words made their way in the new testament in their original Aramaic vernacular. For example in Mark 5:41, "Talitha cum" means "Little girl, get up!" in Aramaic Mark 14:36 "Abba" means "Father" in Aramaic Mark 15:34 "Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachtani?" means "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" in Aramaic Peter and the other disciples were also from Galilee. Peter was actually called "Cephas," which is an Aramaic name. Therefore, any part of the new testament that quotes Jesus has been translated from Aramaic. Since they were all from Galilee, most if not all of the accounts given by the disciples must have also been translated from Aramaic. This is true whether you are reading it in Hebrew, Greek, Latin, English or any other language.

Of course. I just wanted to point out that there are exceptions, even in the OT and even in the Talmud. I previously assumed that every word in the Bible should be taken in a Hebrew context and I was wrong. כן. בוודאי

    What is a god?

Romans 12 states that we should not repay evil for evil...not to take revenge. Romans 12 17Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. 18If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord. But pay particular attention to verse 18 "If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone." Clearly he was addressing the fact that it is not always possible to live at peace with everyone. In Luke 22 Jesus tells the disciples to sell their outer garments in order to buy swords. Luke 22 "36He said to them, "But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one. He didn't tell them to buy helmets so that they could get beaten about their heads. There is only one purpose for a sword. It is also clear that Jesus viewed the defense of a loved one as the ultimate act of love. John 15 13Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. Of course they were not going to lose their lives for the same reason that Jesus did. That is, get 'sacrificed' for the greater good (eg, forgiveness, eternal life) of their loved ones. The most logical conclusion and the most likely way this would occur is in a defensive posture. I also find this interesting. John 18 19Meanwhile, the high priest questioned Jesus about his disciples and his teaching. 20"I have spoken openly to the world," Jesus replied. "I always taught in synagogues or at the temple, where all the Jews come together. I said nothing in secret. 21Why question me? Ask those who heard me. Surely they know what I said." 23"If I said something wrong," Jesus replied, "testify as to what is wrong. But if I spoke the truth, why did you strike me?" Jesus did not strike back at the high priest, but he didn't simply roll or either. He rebuked the assault. So we can see that there is a need to stand your ground when it is necessary. Merged post follows: Consecutive posts merged I'm not saying that you're incorrect. I don't know. But I do know that we should not assume that every word in the Bible should be taking in a Hebrew context. For example, Jesus spoke Aramaic, not Hebrew. Aramaic was used in other parts of bible as well, for example in Daniel and Ezra, and Aramaic is the main language of the Talmud.

    What is a god?

It doesn't say anything along the lines he wrestled them to the ground or smite them or anything like that.... Nor does it say that he caused them to fall to the ground. Most importantly, they asked him again......... 6As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground. 7Then asked he them again, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth. So if he forced them as you say, why would he have allowed them another question and allow them to reply? PS: if God is standing in front of me and he says "I am he". I'd fall down to.
  18. Top ten facts about this situation: 1. It is a FEDERAL crime for aliens to fail to keep registration documents on their person. A law which has never been enforced. The Arizona law just makes it illegal in Arizona to violate that federal law. 2. This is a state's rights issue. It is none of the federal government's, nor California's, business. As long as it is not "unconstitutional", if I don't like the law in Arizona (where I just so happen to reside and support this law and the US constitution in its entirety--including but not limited to the second amendment), I should just be able to move to a state where I agree with that state's laws. 3. Contrary to popular belief, the US constitution does not apply to non citizens. Including those that are within the boundaries of US borders illegally. 4. Mexico shoots illegal immigrants as they cross their border from Guatemala. If they make it in without getting shot, they are frequently beaten and robbed by the Mexican authorities before being deported. And El Presidenta is criticizing us? 5. We don't give a hoot what El Presidenta thinks or says. 6. Penn and Teller do not live in AZ and Arizonans don't give a fat rat's behind what they think. They live in Viva Las Vegas. I have been trying to build a fence between Arizona and Nevada for over twenty years now, but have been unable to secure the necessary capital. Would you please send your generous donations to me at PO Box BR549, Phoenix Arizona? I promise to keep the cost of the construction of said fence low by hiring illegals. If you think my choice of labor force is wrong, then you obviously do not have a problem with Arizona's immigration law. 7. If I am unable to obtain sufficient funds to build the fence between AZ and Nevada, I propose that we move Viva Las Vegas, along with Penn and Teller, the Elvis impersonators and all the prostitutes, to Mexico. As above I plan to use illegal labor. 8. Taking Penn and Teller with anything greater than a grain of salt would be along the same lines as voting for Alfred E Neuman 9. Contrary to what El Presidenta and Mr Obama say, it is Mexico's fault, not US' nor the NRA's fault, that Mexican drug cartels are killing each other, law abiding citizens of both countries and law enforcement. 10. Calling someone that is in this country illegally an "immigrant" is akin to calling a sex offender a lover. But: We can not round up and deport 12-30 million illegals. We need these 12-30 million illegals to pay taxes and spend their income here to help OUR economy and to stop sending their illgotten gains (many billions of dollars) to Mexico. The only way to save Social Security is to grant amnesty. As soon as we grant amnesty, the flood gates will again open as they did in 1987; the last time we granted amnesty.

    What is a god?

John 18: 7 Again he asked them, "Who is it you want?" And they said, "Jesus of Nazareth." 8 "I told you that I am he," Jesus answered. "If you are looking for me, then let these men go." 9 This happened so that the words he had spoken would be fulfilled: "I have not lost one of those you gave me." 'Forced'? Where is force present here, or anywhere else in the Gospels for that matter? Would there even be a need for forgiveness in the presence of force? How can a man be forced to light a lamp if he has been given the freedom to choose whether or not to put oil in it? Merged post follows: Consecutive posts merged We hunger, so he should turn stones into bread? We are in danger, so he should lock us up in cages out of harms way to protect us from ourselves and from each other? In other words, you would rather God not only make the rules, but also move us around like pawns on a chess board? In essence, take away our free will? No thanks. I'll take the world the way it is with all of its imperfections. I would shoot him in the face. But I am also aware of the fact that I too am a filthy rag, no cleaner or dirtier than he is (maybe I should say 'was' after I blew his face off). The only substantial difference between he and I being that I know where the laundramat is and he probably does not.

She's a cheap Madonna knock off and probably should be tested for toxic metals in her paint. Along the lines of imitation crab meat, which is often passed off as crab in "crab salads" and cheap Chinese food, but is actually leftover pieces of some sort of cheap white fish that has been minced, massed and pressed into a tubular shape, with an orange dye on the outside. So, she's a minced and mashed, rubberized piece of otherwise destined for cat food fish product with fake color added which has been pressed into an unnatural state and pawned off to the masses as the real thing. Totally without flavor and substance. Just my opinion. Don't intend to offend any fans.
  21. According to Amanda Perez, Love is pain Why is love so much pain ? Sitting on the roof starring at the stars Thinking to myself how could i have fell for someone so hard When all i was told was lies Now that i think about it ,it makes me cry [chorus] To know someone i gave my heart to Just tore my heart apart A love that is endless Why did this love have to start Feeling the love i have for you Just rushes through my veins Why does love have to be so much pain Memories no one can take away The pain that i feel each and everyday And it is going to be hard ,but i will pull myself through Or else I'll never get over loving you To know someone i gave my heart to Just tore my heart apart A love that is endless Why did this love have to start Feeling the love i have for you Just rushes through my veins Why does love have to be so much pain So much pain . .. So many nights so many tears i've cried (cried) No one to be by my side Stuck with misery and pain you are the one to blame Cause it hurts to know ... To know someone i gave my heart to Just tore my heart apart A love that is endless Why did this love have to start Feeling the love i have for you Just rushes through my veins Why does love have to be so much pain (Why does love have to be so much pain) So much pain (so much pain) Oh so much pain I counter that love is NOT pain. To the contrary, pain is actually love.
