  1. The reason why you go over it a million times in a week is because they are trying to get you to commit it to memory. As far as i'm aware its pretty damn difficult to get a subject commited to memory in a day, well in long term memory. What chance is it that you are going to remember it in any great detail a few weeks down the track?

The fact that your grades are so high is a sign that the effort you are putting in is paying off! This is a very good thing. The School purpose isn't really set to custom fit students, its there to give a general education. You'll be up to your neck in advanced studies soon enough. perhaps you could try and see if you can do a mixed course? We have programs here in australia which allow senoir students to take up a uni subject whilst completeing highschool. If you have a look about your local campus's perhaps they have something similar?

I go to the library where my mum goes to uni and just hang in there and absorb books. its rather refreshing. Yes I am the sort of person that enjoys the smell of old books. *grins*. Anyway. Theres always something you can do. No time spent in education is time wasted.

  2. This works best with xp, but can be done in Vista as well. But in vista it just makes it look alot less shinny, where in xp you can hardly notice the difference!

scroll down and tick the boxes so yours looks like mine,

leave the last box unchecked for extra performance boost, however it'll make your display look like your in windows 98 ( so only do it if your pc is really struggeling or you somehow find that look attractive! )

  3. Its been a while since i've posted, and I've changed alot. But I do find myself drawn back to reading here. ^_- not that I'd made much of a reputation for myself when I was here. but anyway.

  4. hey guys, my mums just gotten into uni, and we're having some difficulty find credible sources for one of her Essays. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The question is:

what is meant by the term 'Modernity and what are the main features said to characterize 'the great transformation giving rise to modernity?'

All sources need to be referenced thats another factor as to why we're having some issues..as most pages Google returns are not.

We've had a look on recommended uni pages, but they are turning up limited results. They're not user-friendly...and even I'm having some difficulty finding results.

So I logged onto here cause I know you guys are awesome at this kinda thing. I don't really need the information to directly laid in front of us, that would be useful. ^.- But a gentle push in the right direction would be most helpful.

    :D

    thanks in advance

  5. Well, i don't have any of that stuff..but I found this medical hand wash stuff i have really takes the smell away ^.^ I mean its not like I can't cope with it, its just I'd rather a pleasant smelling gloves then the Latex.

  6. Maybe its like yawning and if you talk about it, it make you aware of it and want to yawn?

or maybe its an overload for the receptors of your body? I cant remember the details fully but its some kinda thing that blocks too many messages going through at once...(like with your elbow)...maybe theres some sort of thing with that?

what kind of places are you guys in when this happens? sitting or standing for long periods of time?

here`s a neat test to try, get 2 sharp(ish) pencils, and a friend, put your arm out and don`t look, get your friend to put the points of Both pencils on your arm, gradually altering the distance between each pencil before he makes contact, you then tell him if you feel One or Two pencils touching you.

you`ll find that at a certain spacing you`ll only feel ONE point, but infact there are 2 points touching you.

Done this ^.^ but to eliminate some of the human factors, we used a ruler and toothpicks. Taping the tooth picks to the ruler.

This was all done at school, we were testing the sensitivity of the inside and outside of our forearms...well lets just say it was a chance to inflict pain on each other...cause we were using cold and hold probes on our arms.

  7. this afternoon at school has been awesome. There was enough kidneys in biology for me to be able to dissect one by my myself. ^.^ How I love dissections! The only thing i don't like is the latex after smell of my hands...the smell of the dissection i don't have a problem with..its the smell of the latex gloves...>.<

  8. okay so heres what i meant with the lines *sorry forgot to include explanation for that part*

  9. Go to the fast food places themselves, they should happily give you some information. Talk to the manager though not the people behind the register. Take anything they'll give you.

this should be enough to get you started. just type the names of fast food joints into google and it'll give you websites ^.^

it should be easy for you to create a table from the information that is presented on the websites. think about why people use fast food as an option.

You could survey people as to what they think the healthiest take-aways are, then compare the figures of the "healthier" ones to the others.

  10. My digital camera is 5.0 and takes really good pics, I'm not a pro on this subject but use mine often. if you have the money its worth going for a high Megapixel camera. Make sure they come with all your USB cords and everything.

Another thing is get rechargeable batteries and the recharge thing for them and a decent memory chip, as most of the internal memories aren't very large(its a pain to always have to upload!)

    Experiment 5- electroplating

Aim- To use electrolysis to electroplate an iron nail with copper.

    Materials-

    -200ml Copper sulfate solution

    -piece of copper

    -large iron nail

    -accurate scales (very important)

    - 6 V power supply

    - 2 leads with alligator clips

    -steel wool

    Method-

1 . Clean the peice of copper and the nail thoroughly with the steel wool.

    2. Record the masses of the piece of copper and the nail. You could use a table to do so.

    3. Connect the circuit as shown. Make sure the nail is connected to the negative terminal of the power supply.

4.Turn on the power, be very careful not to let the nail touch the copper as it will spark.

    5. Take them both out and record the differences in mass.

    6. note the appearence of both the nail and the copper

now its obvious that electroplating of the copper onto the iron occurs here mine didn't quite add up (most likely due to the scales) but it could have also been from the copper sulfate solution.

You can actually watch the electroplating happing with this one!!
