  1. I've kind of been following this story with a bit of bemusement and surprise, wondering how could this possibly happen? Also wondering if maybe it is another carefully designed ploy to get into their system, perhaps, showing them a form of dummy without any real tech, perhaps, only to unleash another form of trojan on the sly. At first, I read that, without an instruction signal, it was designed to find a suitable landing area to land. Today, I read a report on Fox which stated other likely scenarios instead. It does seem likely that they would have a better contingency plan than to deliver it on a silver platter if only the signal is lost. Which leads me to my next possible conclusion. Could the Chinese hacker connection have reached that deep? First question that comes to mind is which companies designed it and which companies did the hackers hit? Well, Lockheed Martin reports a significant and tenacious cyber attack which was thwarted, but they couldn't find any source in China, though it sounds like the making of some intense drama, a lot more probable than a lost signal? Probably a very closed system during its actual operation.
  2. Drinking lots of water shoud clear things up, at your age. Err, and sleep.
  3. "The Theory predicts that Black Holes are not holes but Spherical Masses.." I think we're getting somewhere.
  4. Eat less, but don't crash on your diet. Lower your caloric intake gradually by about 250 calories per day every week to keep your metabolism stable. You will only be able to force yourself to subsist on a certain limited amount of calories, but you won't know exactly where that point is till you get there and see results. That's why recordkeeping is important. Obviously, you have to eat right. Complex carbs mostly in the morning and lunch and slow-digesting greens and essential fatty acids at night, no sugars or fried foods. Know that everytime you eat something sugary, your body won't burn fat for a short time after, ie. no sugary drinks while you work out. You can use a resource like fitday.com to map out your diet everyday and see where you're at. Basically, diet manipulation is the biggest factor.
  5. Bad economies have never really kept the govt. from spending money on wars, or medicare, or whatever. The govt. has run up what is essentially a credit card to the extent of about ten trillion dollars over the years to cover the budget deficits, or shortfalls.
  6. It could also be that he is just classifying ss and medicare as insurance and conveniently leaving it out of the equation.
  7. You mean one of these nasty bytes of doom? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_screen_of_death
  8. I've seen some other comparisons which differ quite a bit from the one I've shown and that's probably because 2008 was a really bad year for our economy. When I was gathering information, 2008 was the first full year of the statistics that I found data on (from varying sources) and at the time, I had not remembered how depressing that year was.
  9. Many constants are used in other constants. Its not numerology when a constant's equation includes other constants or relationship between constants. Constants have some absolute meaning that they represent, whereas numerology just constitutes meaningless numbers used in conjunction with other meaningless numbers and how they are related in a non-specific, non-orderly manner.
  10. Another question would be how many strings exist in a vacuum? In deep space, where you have around 10 atoms per cubic meter, is it still considered to have a separate string for each Planck length?
  11. Values are really all that matters. These can be instilled through consistent effort from birth. Explaining and demonstrating the benefits and value of a law-abiding, responsible lifetime isn't that hard. Fear of God is not the only way and in this day and age is bucking the trend, especially in light of factual substantiation. You easily set youself up for alienation with your child in an unknown future of the new, developing world. It wasn't long ago that most Americans believed, but you're looking at 40% nonbelievers now. It is important to communicate with your children adequately though and educate them and not leave important issues in the hands of peers, or television, or whatever. Just saying that there is more than one way provided that you are thorough. The biggest mistake I see people make is having kids too early, with no experience to draw upon.
  12. Are you referring to the effect of a cosmological constant?
  13. Considering that life was found a mile underground Antarctica in Lake Vostok, I think your chances are pretty slim. And then there was the one found thriving a mile below the seafloor. I suppose there are plenty of hot springs that are too chemically strong to support life as we know it, though they could have helped form the building blocks of life.
  14. Maybe this will help. What happens before stars form is that regions of space congregate with gas that is very thick, gravity pulls it together so thick and dense that it becomes so hot and heavy that two atoms merge, igniting it and setting off the chain-reaction for millions and billions of years. To give you an idea of how thick the insides of star is, one cubic meter of the insides of a star weighs about a hundred thousand kilograms. That's why they last so many billions of years, because most of the hydrogen is just in super-excited form, but only a relatively small portion is being fused into helium gradually, creating incredible amounts of energy. Having so much hydrogen in one place gives it so much gravity that its able to keep itself from falling apart and leaking out into the vacuum of space pulling on it from all around. It's kind of hard to imagine what a vacuum is like from the confines of an atmosphere, but you can think of it as being like having so little air available, that it would suck all the air out of your room so fast and hard that all of the furniture and stuff in your room would fly up and stick to the pipe. When you see how much mass and density that goes into stars and stuff, you find out how violent it can be. Thankfully, we have this big atmosphere to cushion us from everything. I hope I answered your questions somewhat.
  15. Positrons are by definition not matter but anti-matter.
  16. All that really matters is the number 65,911,567,184,325,465. Notice how the digits 65 actually show up in it twice. That's the most significant part.
  17. You're all WRONG! There is the sun and it's life-giving light, the earth and it's life-giving water, and the moon, well that's just a little souvenir we have around to look at, but some would say that it keeps the water moving. While I levitate upside down carrying a blue marlin in one hand juggling canteloupes in the other. Hehe. Top that, Vedavillian dude.
  18. It's not a perfect system. If it were perfect, there would never be mutations. The overwhelming majority of mutations result in deformities disallowing the continuance of that particular genetic line. If it was perfect, evolution never would have happened. What usually causes mutations? Things that are toxic and exist all over the unclean world. So, in essence, it is imperfection which drives change, enabling diversity and advancement.
  19. Regarding this last sentence, a trillion equals a thousand billion. They're all just estimates based on mathematical constructs.
  20. [What workes?] Exactly. Heaven and hell actually was dreamt up by somebody before Jesus, so I guess he can't really take credit for it. It was kind of a good idea, but do you really think God created Heaven and Hell just to satisfy someone in the Bible that hardly anyone can name from memory? I think you really need to get off the whole duality trip altogether because that is one of the things that does not work. (Correction: it still works, but its meaning/parameters have changed, so its hard to prop up any single one standard and relate it to the old standard.) I think the number of people in the world that are truly evil is really small, but that's subject to all kinds of semantics and interpretations and conditions, so I pretty much just stick to current secular law, because that's really all that matters. Who cares about what happened in the caveman era? Who cares about debating caveman politics?
  21. It only makes sense that the NT is going to be more refined because mankind has had more time to organize a bunch of ideas and philosophies into a summation of what works and what is right (depending on who you talk to). Where the OT is more of a collection of histories/different styles, the NT is more focused on content, especially since only one person's opinions are considered, so it's not exactly comparing apples to apples.
  22. +1 on positive reinforcement. -1 on sat. fatty sweets after midnight, lots of condensed energy with nowhere to go. Is that 2 or 3 or 4 or 5? Maybe something like showing her a picture of a plump frowning teenage girl (This is Elizabeth on sweets) and a picture of a smiling lean girl eating a fruit (This is Elizabeth on liver-absorbing fructose.) Actually, sounds kind of harsh, but maybe she just needs a little education. It just so happens that recently, I started eating a wheat pbj sandwich every night before I go to bed. Not something I would normally think about doing especially at midnight, but I read something about how sugar can help some people become drowsy and I just had kind of a yearning for some pbj so I put in my routine, plus I'm 6'2 and lean, so it can't be that bad. A month later, I had gained 6 pounds. Of course, next month, I was already back to normal, so big deal, but maybe you got something out of it.
  23. Yeah, I see this phase in stars' lives as being the time when comets are typically created, seeding the system. How they all congregated on earth, covering 70% of it is interesting, but I guess most of the water on Mercury evaporated and most of it on Mars was swept into space by impacts. Given these criteria, it wouldn't surprise me if there a rather large number of water worlds in the universe.
  24. God speaks English only in Phuket? Who would've thought?
