  1. You guys know that its considered the 2nd oldest city in the world. I hope this fact make keeps you exploring about it. Aslo from wikipedia:

" Multan Public School with its 97-acre campus is one of the largest and better public schools in Pakistan."

I have been a part of this school since the start of my education. I have left it only last week after spending 14 years there. To tell you something. I visited University of Birmingham but doubt its as big as MPS.

  2. Hi, I was just curious to know how many of you people have heard of multan and its history. Its my city of birth but is very historical as well.

What you know of it then?!

  3. Shush, you weren`t s`posed to mention that!

I was so looking forwards to the compiled PDF list for a little bit of light bedtime reading :D

O, so that's what you do for a little bit of light bedtime readings:rolleyes: . I always thought you to be very intellegent but now I see whats in that that makes you one! Just joking:-) !

  4. Every Hydrocarbon has got Hydrogen in them (which makes literally every organic compound). Water, ammonia, hydrogen peroxide, mineral acids all are common examples of compound with hydrogen in it. Hope it helps!

  5. Those aren't "the best" for any particular goal or education philosophy, so it seems like you don't know what you want. (For example, if you're looking at hard sciences, where is Cal Tech? Etc.) They are, however, probably the biggest name-recognition schools. Is that what you're looking for? :)

Also, those are really all large, graduate-centric universities. There are a dozen or so small liberal arts colleges that are just as prestigious (in academic circles, if not for man-on-the-street wow factor) and in my opinion offer a superior undergraduate experience.

No, Statistically they are THE best universities in the world, no matter what (apart from one personal opinion ofcourse!). I think the departments are more funded in the universities I have listed to be voted than other small schools which will ultimately disadvantage anyone who ends up there than the listed universities. I applied to Leeds and Manchester and UCL for that matter, but I chose Imperial and UCL because their Chemistry department is rated the best (atleast in the UK level with Oxford and Cambridge)!

  6. My go is Oxford, Just love everything about (although I did get rejected by them when I applied for Undergraduate Chemistry course, They don't know what they have missed, ha ha!). Imperial will be my choice next because I hope to sit in one of their lecture rooms in October this years!

  7. Hi all,

I am trying to find out which University is the most desired university to enter! Unbaised choice will be most appreciated:

    Oxford university

    Cambridge Univeristy

    Imperial College London

    Harvard University

    Massachusetts Institute of Technology

    Princeton University

    Yale University

    and

    Stanford University.

    Good day!

  8. Hi,

Well this is again one if those threads which make people to explore this forums. I wants to know how to change your subname (name in bracket immediately after the username to the right). My ones Baryon something can I change it into a different word or name.

    Thanks!

  9. Thanks fore the insight i didn,t know if i had rememberd it right.

    thanks guys.

And further if hydrogen is added to a molecule then it is also reduced and opposite is true for oxidation. Also if the oxidation number for an atom is increased then its oxidised and if decreased then reduced.

Oxidising agent are there which oxidise substance but themselves being reduced while reducing agents reduce substance but get oxidise themselves!

  10. do you think that this field of science have more advantages than it's disanvantages?

To early to tell to be honest, but so far we have seen in this thread that those who were in favour of this science were stating advantages and advantages its got whilst those we were against put very few disadvantages to the environment instead they stated that this field is useless (no specific harmful disadvantages they quoted). So there you are more advantages than disadvantages!

  11. I took a two-month chemistry course and now I'm fine with oxidation numbers and equalizing equations. Although my relations with my current chemistry teacher are suffering a downfall due to his desire to get all the credits and some horrible things he says (imagine what would be your teacher told you that lightnings have an average voltage of 380V! It drove me completely mad!).

    Thanks for reply anyway!

    Cheers!

O, alright then, Sorry I was a little dumb there not to realise that you posted it ages ago  . But I happy for you for taking the course and finally cracking the problem:-) !

  12. One thing's for sure. Even its a very fresh branc science its still to be explored and we will see goods and bads about it. But at this instant lets just appreciate how much work is being done on it and what we have managed to find out regarding its uses!

  13. I know this might look silly to some people in here (as there are lots of more important subjects to discuss) what I'm gonna ask, but I really need to figure out how these things work! We've been dealing with some complicated (for me:doh: ) equations lately (like H2O2+KMnO4+H2SO4--> ...), and I just can't figure out how to equalize them using oxidation numbers (as our professor said it is easy to equalize by using oxidation number when the equations are tricky).

Could anyone please use any examples of equalizing equations using oxidation numbers and explain them?!

I really got to learn them!!!

Ooooh, come guys, this thing is really important to me! Any hint would be just fine!

    Pleasee!

    for example this equation.

    5H2O2 + 2KMnO4 + 3H2SO4--> K2SO4 + 2MnSO4 +O2 + 8H2O

I know that both sides now are equal, but I just want to know to know how can we do this by using oxidation numbers!

I'm very interested to know. Any clue??

I think he must have asked you to try to balance it simply but I am not sure how to do it using oxidation state. I think if the oxidation number is balanced from each side of very individual atoms then it [equation] is balanced.

Sorry to be of no further assistance!

  14. How much are you willing to pay me? I'll give you some rep... for a price.

    ;)

uh-huh, well I will barter my brain for some repo, then I wont have to pay you a sickle and you'd be brainless! Just Joking :D !

  15. this is EXACTLY my point entirely!

they don`t get awarded because not many people know how

we NEED a proper Clearly marked Button for this!

hopefully that problem with be addressed soon by our good and efficient moderators (I am serious :) !)

ChemSiddiqui, it`s the little tiny (hardly visible) Scales icon at the top right in the posts border.

I see it now, thanks for the info, YT:-) . Anyway can I request people to award reputaion points to me if they like my thread when I start it?

  16. Thanks for the reminder. I've been lax about focusing on good posts; it's always easier to give the bad ones more of your time, unfortunately. I will endeavor to reward more often.

    Quite understandable!

Good post, grats on the 100 posts, have some rep, ChemSiddiqui

    Gee Thanks!

still reward, normally when someone makes me laugh

how you awards some1 some repo anyway?

  17. Hi,

I wanted to know how to boast my reputation on the forums. I have completed century of posts (Hurray  !) and still have that one little green card or boxes, call it what you like.

    Any idea!
