  1. Sorry swansont, guess we cross posted and I didn't see yours...Anyway and as said, there might be a point of argument in your link, but since McCain is a war hero, so to speak and had been cleared by Congress to run in the elections, I seriously doubt anyone would have tried it. Aside from that, McCain was seen as the easiest to beat and any such effort would have put the light on Obama's citizenship problem...Funny thing is, when there was talk on allowing Arnold to run for President, it was Obama's crowed pushing the issue in Illinois, often linked by people like me, to his citizenship.
  2. Granted, I don't specifically know how Hawaii distinguishes between Hospital Births and those registering a birth of someone, but there must be a means. If not however, that would simply mean Obama was probably NOT born in a Hospital or for some possibly embarrassing entry, has refused to allow his long form from being released or there is none. Anyway, no Hospital or State can deny you from your own health records, for countless reasons... 3. Marat, McCain was born in Panama and under a 1903 Panama Act qualified as an American Natural Born Citizen, long before he was born. His qualifications however were investigated by a House Committee, prior to the election and Obama's, were not. Much of the Constitution has been altered/changed, as directed in that Constitution, over the years, what emotions drove the founders, they knew would change over time... http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/582683/despite_being_born_in_panama_is_john.html
  4. A "Birth Certificate" and a "Certificate of Live Birth" are entirely different instruments, HOWEVER both are legal for proving Citizenship, under law in ALL of today's 50 States and territories. The problem Obama has and which ever Hospital he has claimed birth in, is that they have acknowledged the existence of a long form, normally produced after birth in all States/Hospitals and long before 1961, but the Hospital has refused to release that form without the consent of Mr. Obama and he has refused consent. In South Texas, where I've lived most of my life, many in the same period 1960's/1970's, people born previously or at the time were born in home, some with registered mid wife's and many more with out, both Hispanic and the so called Whites, in order to collect SS or other welfare many agencies required the form and people were granted the "Certificates of Live Birth" practically on their word. I see no reason, why Hawaii having just become a State, would do less. Of course this issue, has again come to light over Donald Trump's comments, not necessarily Hannity, a presumed 2012 Presidential Republican Candidate. As I wrote many times during the 2007-8 Campaign, the issue itself is a non issue with the majority of Americans. They have no knowledge or understanding of the reasons why the founders even established the requirement and more importantly, don't care. Of course the reasoning was that one person, should have the fullest understanding possible, for what being an American should be from childhood to at least age 35, culturally and traditionally. Then as now Americans were and are from many places on the planet, with many diverse views of Social/Legal acceptance other than traditionally American and would vote accordingly.
  5. swansont; I swear, if I wrote a book on any subject, you would find one word to twist my comments. So OK, replace "done it" with "started the process", which has been under consideration all along. I can't predict what's going to happen, certainly from the reporting, but the very premise of my later discussion "spent fuel" might in the end be the cause for such actions....
  6. michel; Seawater by nature is corrosive on most parts in the reactor facility (metal/wiring/etc) and the problems as I've understood them (may not be correct), were the spent fuel rods, those not in the main containment facilities, waiting transport. Again as I've been led to believe, reactors 5-6, this site, were shut down (#5 for sure) and things all went according to plan. Batteries took over, diesel generates brought in, used and now have been replaced by a new electrical source. Apparently the cooling units (1-4), were damaged by the tsunami (also sea water) and their trying to repair, to at least to handle the involved materials. Some radiation escape would have been expected, if for no other reason the containment units main and secondary could not hold the probable pressures built up, but I believe these releases are still under control, the limits for human safety from radiation effects under the limits. The following link is a good example on how high some effects were in the US/World during and after "above ground" nuclear testing during the 50's 60's, well above anything seen in Japan today. http://www.epa.gov/rpdweb00/rert/nuclearblast.html While I'm no longer arguing the Japanese handling of this event, think they have done as best anyone could, what your worried about just doesn't seem to be the case. I'm sure if they thought filling the sites with sand and cementing over was necessary "Chernobyl or level 7" was required, they would have already done it. It may be possible the mess can be cleaned up and though 1-4 may need to be replaced, 5-6 made operational, but this is my totally speculative opinion, only.
  7. imatfaal; Since I'd rather not read a 100++ page report which would read pretty much the same for any Muslim Based Sharia State, I did go far enough to see they give credit for advancements in Human Rights since 2006. "Milk and Honey" to one person is subjective and poison to the next person. I doubt it would convince me a "possible" majority wouldn't still wish to maintain Sharia Rule and/or whether it's under Qadaffi or al Qaeda, would make any difference. Djordje; None of your links after quoting my "Muslim Brotherhood" question, answered the question. Do you think, whether directly (al Qaeda) or indirectly (Muslim Brotherhood), that influence would be better or worse for the people of Libya? It's my contention, Libya had been making progress for them, under both civil and human rights and with the cooperation of Western Commercial ventures, oil exploration, trade, etc...
  8. Djordje; Understanding your words and agreeing for the most part, even that some blame should lay at the feet of US WORDS and Policy, I'm concerned there might be an "Islamic Brotherhood" influence in ALL the Middle East or Northern Africa unrest. Obama, IMO set the pattern with his Speech To The Muslim World, at the Cairo University in 2009. I won't pick the speech apart here, but if you or anyone has not heard it, I've linked it below and second and more recent speech to Egyptians over their very similar "so called" problem with Mumarak. All I detected was an attempt to micro-manage Muslim affairs, without regards to their own cultures... http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=7341972n If you wish to respond however, I will disagree with your Imperialism problem and don't think that's the problem with Western Countries. It seems to me, both Egypt and Libya have used a certain amount of Western style Capitalism to improve their basic standard of living.
  9. I love how everyone is placing blame, cause and course, based on their personal ideological political/social beliefs. Factually, Obama and more importantly the Administration (Gates/Mullen) OPPOSED interfering in Libya. Probably at the request of Hillary Clinton SoS, Susan Rice, the US UN representative, in order to save international face and the agreement of the Arab League to assist, made US assistance nearly unavoidable. Rice was correct, China and Russia by abstaining (could have vetoed), the UN then passed the resolution. Now for the actions; Under International Law, the party/parties involved in the overthrow of a National Leader/Government are then responsible for the stability of that Nation until a new Government is formed and STABLE. I wouldn't be expecting Arab Nations, who are deeply divided by Religious Sects or would I count of European Nations, who are all as financially troubled as the US, to hang around waiting for a stable government. All this includes UN participation, where the same people are involved, since UN Peace keepers have little or no enforcement power. Since Obama and staff are NOW saying actions underway are not to remove Qaddafi, yet attacking his troops, on the ground and protecting the so called "rebels", I'm guessing they think those requirements won't hold true and IMO are wrong. As for Libyan Oil, the main importer is in fact France, the ones that first recognized an unknown entity of the Qaddafi opposition and whose oil is meaningless to the Worlds needs (less that 2%).
  10. swansont; Thanks, a very informative, descriptive display of the cooling system. I'll study it further later tonight but still feel power generators are/were available to hook up directly to that one part of the process. It also appears if I've read it correctly, the steam generation would have continued (to some degree) with out power, as steam release out of the plant was shut down allowing some natural forced energy. I also noted a different power requirement for certain jobs, so any power could have (I don't know) might have helped. For instance, if you lose 220 power, you 220 A/C 110 fan motor will continue to run... As said earlier, in my mind and technically everything worked according to plans except for the spent rods being held, where ever that was. I kind of follow markets, judging internal national affairs, probably too much, but if correct whatever is going on in Japan, those markets are not concerned. They open each day 6PM ET and last night opened up 300+ around 9227, not far at all from recent highs.
  11. So long as it's a State approved operation, that can later be disapproved, I see nothing politically wrong with the idea. However I would suggest the NDS Bank, is and has been in a strong Republican/Conservative State since it's admittance as a State and any current figures mentioned in the original link, are based on their relaxed energy laws and the current "oil boom"... Any program IMO, is as efficient or inefficient as the regulations that control the program, be it in the private or public sector. For instance in California, regulations would be controlled by three major metropolitan areas (LA, SF, SD), extremely liberal having a majority in their State Legislature and would direct any legislation (regulation) toward their benefit. An additional problem would be in those States with mandatory annual balanced budgets and any losses incurred by the Bank and it's branches, would be included in that budget, profit or losses. In the private sector, public banks are usually owned, invested in, by local people and suffer the losses or profits, not everyone in the State.
