  1. "I believe evidence. I believe observation, measurement, and reasoning, confirmed by independent observers. I'll believe anything no matter how wild and ridiculous, if there is evidence for it. The wilder and more ridiculous something is, however, the firmer and more solid the evidence will have to be." Isaac Asimov

  2. This is a message i recieve when i go to the chatroom.

Warning: Other chatrooms are not under the control of SFN. If you enter another chatroom, we are not responsible their behavior.

So how do i go into other chatrooms? If i wanted to. The chatroom says channels #snf. Do i need other codes to enter other rooms? And if so. Is there a list somewhere to those codes that I can get a hold of??

  3. At the top right of this webisite is a small version of your profile photo. Below that it says sign out, my settings and help. Strange thing is that photo that has always been the same as my profile picture has changed to a pony in a red setting. Nothing i ever saw before in life. This is ok with me. I would like to know if there is an explanation for this happening all of the sudden?

  4. "Profile photo" is the one displayed only on your profile page. "Avatar" is the one displayed next to your posts. Perhaps you're changing your profile photo instead of your avatar?

yes. i know the difference. its the profile photo i want to change. Seems that the avatar changes when i change it but not my profile photo. I change iti and hit refresh over and over and nothing happens. Ijust trued changeing my avatar too and nothing happens. WTF!

  5. Hm. Usually programs are supposed to remember their size, so if you close them while it's maximized, it'll open again maximized. Does that not happen?

Thanks capn but i figured it out from a diferent forum. Thank you.

  6. Well, question: What browser are you using, and on which operating system?

And if you don't mean F11, what do you mean?

Internet explorer and windows XP professional.

When i click on a websites short cut to open the page it doesnt fit my monitor. I know about the maximize option at the top right hand of the web page. But it would really be cool if i did not have to click on that every time i start a web page.

There must be a way. i dont know enough about computers to figure this out on my own.

    Than you.

  7. I'm running this by question by everyone i can.

How do I open a website and have it actually fit my monitor full size instead of like fitting half the screen like it does.?

And i'm not talking about F11.

There has to be a way.

  8. What to respond to first. OMG. 1 post by this person on the first day he or she joined and his or her last visit to this website was the day he or she joined. So i guess he or she made his or her point and wasn't willing to come back to back up his or her claims. I say it's one thing to publicly soil yourself on accident, but to soil yourself on purpose is just asking for negative attention.

  9. Anura, I am sorry, but your question was a bit vague. Vasa vasora mostly arise as small branches from the artery that is being supplied. This is required, for arteries (mostly), because the many smooth muscle and elastin layers in the media layer of arteries are designed to contain blood, and this blocks diffusion. Also, a component of capillary beds (not the ones in the lungs) is that they are leaky so that some proteins, immune molecules, and immune cells can gain access to all of the cells in the body. Vasa vasora for the wall structure of some large veins originate from the accompanying artery. Arteries and veins that are connected at their terminus by a capillary bed usually travel together side by side. SM

Dragonstar57, yes the cells in the walls of alveoli get their O2 directly because the blood entering the lung alveolar capillary beds is deoxygenated. Lung tissue is pretty amazing. On the other hand the walls of bronchi and bronchioles, connective tissue, and large arteries and veins in the lung that present a much larger diffusion distance to the living cells and therefore require a separate blood supply that enters the lung separately. SM

    Thanks

  10. Ones heart pumps blood into arteries. The arteries branch and branch until they are small (arterioles). The blood flows from arterioles into a capillary bed. Capillaries are a very small vein and are where gasses (oxygen and carbon dioxide), nutrients, and waste products are exchanged between cells and the blood. Blood collected from capillary beds combine in larger and larger veins to return the blood to the heart to be pumped again.

The heart is two separate pumps. One half pumps blood through the capillary beds in lung tissue to exchange gasses and oxygenate the blood, while the other half of the heart pumps oxygenated blood through the rest of the body. So Heart--> arteries --> capillaries --> veins --> heart. SM

I am aware of all of that. I'll say what the book im reading says and then rephrase my question.

Blood vessels are composed of living tissue, so they require nourishment. They are nourished by vessels called vasa vasorum.

My question is, what supplies the vasa vasorum?

  11. Fish breath by taking in water threw thier mouths and out thier gills. So if fish stop moving do the stop breathing. Or do they sleep in a current. And if fish did sleep in a current wouldn't that current push them along, canselling out thier movment. Or do they just not sleep?
