First day at work, met my masters student... all seems good.

  3. A masters student wants to work on a project with me - something to do with Riemannian supergeometry is going to be the topic - first masters student I will look after.

      No worries AJB.

PastO in this context means meal, so antipasto is 'before meal'. Not pastA with an opposite charge.

I'll have to think about how to communicate these ideas - maybe with more simple examples. Amazingly the 7 dimensional cross product is an algebraic example of a pre-Courant algebroid

Been giving RoS a listen and it's noise. Like one commenter wrote to one of their songs: " ( can't decide if its fucking awesome or fucking shit"! Going by that bass tune I linked above they can clearly play properly. It's definitely Deaf Metal and I'm deaf!!

    4. StringJunky

      StringJunky

I listened to a RoS track and I actually found a piece of nice music in it which lasted about 30 seconds; it was like an oasis sandwiched between two walls of noise.

although ,I reported many times they apologise because of making repeat me when I was speaking with some associations whiches are the best of examples;my family's member are...too extravagant relevant this subject. my mother sometimes make the me rpeat over than 8 times and in spite of this she does not understand. these are not unique samples. we also so see some matters with educated people although it is not as same as this one.

however ,I would remind these to conclude this conversation for a while ; of course our mother is our the most beloved member in our life. our family is also the best community in life.these are known but there is no contradiction in relevancy with all if you care all details.

    3. Arete

      Arete

If you don't get rejected first go, you didn't aim for a journal with a high enough IF ;)

    4. ajb

      ajb

In this case the IF was quite low, but it was a very specialist journal hoping to increase its IF. So I think they are a little fussy.

    3. ajb

      ajb

Over reacting... I just wrote a very speculative and loose comment. Basically we would expect the semiclassical limit of a 'quantum space-time' to be a smooth manifold with both a metric and a Poisson structure. I just wrote a passing comment on how to use these two together. This is already know to a few 'stringy' theorists, but maybe not widely

      known.

  22. I now appear in the newsletter of the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Science! They report that one of my co-authored papers was selected for 'Publishers' Pick' by the Journal of Physics A. Also I am mentioned in the article about the 'Jets and Fields' conference.

  23. Just had a paper accepted in the Journal of Geometry and Physics. The paper was rejected by a very high ranking journal only to be almost right away accepted by JGP. Over 14 months ago we wrote the first version!

    1. Sato

      Sato

Congrats, ajb! It's not completely clear, JGP is just as / higher ranking than the journal that rejected?

    2. ajb

      ajb

JGP is, for some reason, not very high ranking as far as IF goes. I am not sure why as some very capable people publish in that journal. I think it could just be that it is quite specialist and so papers there do not pick up lots of citations quickly.

    3. Sato

      Sato

Ah, alright, congratulatory for your work getting accepted to the specialist journal then!
