    My wife is a high school nurse. She tells me that kids..Usually girls..Are having full blown panic and anxiety attacks when they forget to bring their phones to school. Hmm..Me thinks I might smell a possible Psych thesis subject.

    I overheard a particularly incompetant colleague of mine tell another student that you 'learn through mistakes,' just now. Whille I believe the statement to be true, if all you ever do is make mistakes (as he does), then have you really learned anything?

      You learn from understanding why you made the mistakes - not in making them. That's the difference which many people seem not to realise

    Going out to do some fish collecting today. Checking on a reported population of invasive shrimp at the stat ports near where i live.

      We take great cares to sterilise our ballast water to avoid contamination of Eco-systems with alien sea-life. Looks as if someone was not being too careful. Hopefully the reports are wrong - invasive species are not good

    I go to Norman Regional Healthplex at 7 am tomorrow for my hip replacement. Too bad I won't be awake to record the surgery. Wish me luck!!!

    Finally, I'll be having my hip replacment surgery April 21st. I'm not looking forward to having the operation but, if it will stop all this pain, then I'm all for it.

    Well, the core decompression surgery did not work. I now have to get a hip replacement. At least I'll be able to sit down at my PC for more than an hour after having the surgery. As it stands now, I'm in constant, excruciating pain. :'(

      ritualistic does not necessarily mean spiritual/religious. It can imply a level of ingrained repetition and unthinking execution . And I have seen that mode of behaviour in labs, offices, hospitals, the bridges of ships etc. Anyway I put it there mainly as Derek Walcott died yesterday
