  1. WARNING: This link points to the video aired on Arab television of the beheading of Nick Berg. It's very graphic and disturbing. If this bothers you, do not continue. http://www.mancow.com/Videos/nick%20berg%20beheading%20video%20-%20Warning%20-%20Graphic!.wmv ...so remind us again why we shouldn't be hunting these people down before they do something like this?
  2. ..that Iraq claimed they didn't have...that they lied to the UN about destroying.
  3. Not harassing women you don't know and/or not robbing them on the streets at night is a good way not to get tazered...
  4. " Bush administration officials told Fox News that mustard gas (search) was also recently discovered." " Two weeks ago, U.S. military units discovered mustard gas that was used as part of an IED. Tests conducted by the Iraqi Survey Group (search) and others concluded the mustard gas was "stored improperly," which made the gas "ineffective." They believe the mustard gas shell may have been one of 550 for which former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein failed to account when he made his weapons declaration shortly before Operation Iraqi Freedom began last year. 5. BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- A U.S.-led coalition convoy in Iraq found sarin gas in an artillery round rigged as an improvised explosive device, Brig. Gen. Mark Kimmitt said Monday. http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/05/17/iraq.main/index.html So, which one of you hippy liberal anti-Iraq people want to be the first to come up with a conspiracy theory? Break out the tin-foil hats!
  6. It's not erroneous, because there's more reason to believe it's not a random interaction with some protein unique to rats than to believe that to be the case.
  7. ...because animal studies are done just for the hell of it, they have no application to human medicine. Please refrain from commenting on basic axioms of research progression when you clearly don't understand the whole point of testing on rats.
  8. 11. Creationism should be taught as one of those stupid things the nutjob right-wing religious zealots try to pollute the education system with...

    Sasser Virus!

You run a program that is always running, using your CPU and memory, and slowing things down?
  15. Definately not a fair represenation, as most people don't completely agree with one one of the major party platforms. But they vote that way because of the myth that voting for a 3rd party is a waste, and it's going to stay like this for a while unfortunately :/
  16. The equation isn't trying to prove or disprove, it's simply estimating probability.
  17. ..this really doesn't sound very useful, practical, or even feasible.
  18. The only way to win an election in the two-party system is to appeal to the majority, which is why both major parties take very similar positions on alot of issues.

Once those programs start running you're really screwed no matter what approach you use... And if you're running programs from an untrusted source you deserve whatever happens...
  20. ..or just guestimate... accurate enough.
  21. I hate to see good threads go down the pseudoscience crapper :/
  22. Actually they are written in the same language (C++ usually), but the external libraries are so different it takes a decent amount of work to port the code between OS's.
  23. Scientific proof involves peer-reviewing by 3rd parties with no personal stake in the research, not some crackpot who paid $5 for a domain to post whatever he felt like making up. Fact of the matter is, this isn't science. Don't even try to pass it off as science.
  24. You'd be hard pressed to find a good board without an off-topic general discussion area, and for good reason.
