  1. For it to accelerate there must be some force present, with out a force it won't accelerate, n since the original velocity is zero, assuming u placed it in space with no initial motion, the atom would just stay in it's place until there is a force. The atom would accelerate if the force of gravity is present. But since u r asking "will it accelerate toward where it can find gravity?", then i suppose u mean the force that causes the initial motion n furthur acceleration is not gravity. I think it is possible as long as some other force would act on the atom...like electromagnetic
  2. wow that's so cool... i've traveled with a huge ship before and we were on the ocean for 48 hours, and there was a big storm so that's why the trip took so long, naturaly it was supposed to take only 24 hours. Have fun n best wishes n stay safe :) :)
  3. school councelor can't help her she's been there be4... father was physically abusive...also neglected her n abandoned her... her reputation has turned bad becuz of her behaviour :(
  4. Please consider the behaviour of the following individual.... - 18 yr old female - used to self injure (cut) for few months in the past, no longer self injures - has had suicidal thoughts, never acted on them. - has been told that she acts immature, childish, not proper for her age. - is very annoying. Asks repeated questions such as:" are you happy? " "do you like me?" - divorced parents - has been abused and neglected by her father - gets upset over extremely minor things, ex: she being ignored or not accepted - if extremely upset and left alone by her self, throws her self on the groud n starts screaming, crying, punching, and thinks about ways to harm her self. However if close relatives are present, she would scream n throw objects around. Embaressing yet she can not completely take control of her emotions. - feels out of control on certain occasions - good academic record - has had relation ship troubles - has occasional night mares, mostly about her father and her ex bf Do you think this individual has a behaviour problem and needs to seek professional assistance? or would you consider these set of behaviours as normal considering the abuse she has been through? Does this idividual has some sort of a behaviour disorder?
  5. He tested over 3000 filaments be4 he came up with his version of practical light bulb.
  6. I agree with Dr.Dalek. Your idea of poisoning the ppl in 3rd world countries is no different than putting bombs in thier cities n kill them with guns. Have u ever watched little african children n thier parents on tv? how could u ever even think of doing such a horrible thing to them? it's not thier fault they were borned in a 3rd world country...U r right to some extend, simply feeding them will NOT solve any problem, but the solution is not to get rid of them! they r human, just like me n u, each n every one of them deserves to live a full life. What we could do, however, other than only feeding them n watch thier numbers multiply, is to EDUCATE them. These ppl need education to undrestand how to build up thier own community, n how to make thier own food n to regulate thier population increase n how to minimize the spread of illnesses. They need facilities, for example hospitals, schools, factories, etc. U r right, we can not feed them for ever, so why not teach them/ help them to feed themselevs instead of destroying them further?
  7. i'll have my final exams for grade 12 next week, then i graduate highschool...i'm going to start engineering studies in September at University
  8. i think personality is more important, however u should know the technology other wise they won't hire u, but keeping the job depends more on yr personality. Besides, a person can improve his/her tech know how over time, so i think the companies would prefer a better personality person, some one who "obeys" them. It's thier company so it's thier rules, personality can take u much farther than tech know how. One of my teachers, who used to be an engineer, told us that the largest coorparations r run by B students, not the A students, since B students generally hav better social skills n a personality which is preferred.
  9. Iran...cuz i'm persian...haha but they won't win Brazil
  10. oh gosh i didn't know wat that meant (i'm being sarcastic)....hey i'll just be sarcastic n be racist too, then it'll be ok right? as i said i'm not Jewish or gay n my president is not Bush, but imagine if some Gay Jewish person living in America reads the sarcastic jokes 1veedo made n feel bad about him self. N that is not funny. My point is that u can be funny with out making others feel bad. N i did not mean to make ppl on this site against me, i'm just trying to make a point.
  11. wat kind of joking is that? clearly it's offensive to Iran, Jewish ppl, Gay ppl, n president of the united states. Sorry if i pointed it out if that's against the rules
  12. do u hav proof??????? btw i'm persian ???? wtf? i'm not gay but come on!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. i agree with this. I think it's quit impossible to make the photon travel faster than light, unless they find a way to obtain infinite energy. However i said "quit impossible", i'm sure there is a way (keeping my fingers crossed)
  14. wat about teens who r listening to music, they can't hear it right?
  15. similarities between apes and humans prove they evolved from a common ape-like ancestor "only" 2 or 3 million years ago. By comparison, evolutionists say we are far more distantly "related" to our insect "relatives." Evolutionists do not feel compelled to prove their claim that similarity necessarily means common evolutionary ancestry -- they assume it. Indeed, evolutionists never question or investigate whether evolution is true or not, rather they ask which animal evolved into which, and their answer is generally based on similarity! taken from : http://www.gennet.org/facts/metro05.html =========== Humans did not evolve from monkeys. Humans are more closely related to modern apes than to monkeys, but we didn't evolve from apes, either. Humans share a common ancestor with modern African apes, like gorillas and chimpanzees. Scientists believe this common ancestor existed 5 to 8 million years ago. Shortly thereafter, the species diverged into two separate lineages. One of these lineages ultimately evolved into gorillas and chimps, and the other evolved into early human ancestors called hominids. Since the earliest hominid species diverged from the ancestor we share with modern African apes, 5 to 8 million years ago, there have been at least a dozen different species of these humanlike creatures. Many of these hominid species are close relatives, but not human ancestors. Most went extinct without giving rise to other species. Some of the extinct hominids known today, however, are almost certainly direct ancestors of Homo sapiens. While the total number of species that existed and the relationships among them is still unknown, the picture becomes clearer as new fossils are found. Humans evolved through the same biological processes that govern the evolution of all life on Earth. taken from: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/evolution/library/faq/cat02.html
  16. 1. think about an interesting topic, n then search it in goole, u'll be suprized by how much new info u'll find 2. listen to music, dance along if u wish 3. go out for walk 4. make some thing out of wat ever that u got available 5. my favourite: go out side, n find tiny insects, put them in a little container, bring them home, watch them up close, n then once they die, put them under the microscope n enjoy. U can keep the remains in a container for futur. I hav a large bee, a spider, a large ant, and another insect which i found on the class floor way back in grade 8(4 years ago), still in my box, they r dry but they look fresh. U can also name these lovely insects n make a diary for each.
  17. never mind, i already did the presentation, btw i found out the answer to this question. U basically need to know the number of hydrogen atoms gained n number of oxygen atoms lost in the reduction, then u can predict the number of atoms of each type in the product.
  18. Wat is so special about Mona Lisa? why did this painting gain so much fame? wat are the ideas n or messages behind this painting?
  19. u can ask for lacation of an organ relative to the other organs, or u can ask them to draw it out. or like: count the number of lobes on the left liver. How many lobes does the left liver have? same thing goes for right liver or : name all the glands and draw and specify their location. or: measure the lenght of small intestine, how long is it in cm? or ask: wat is the organ ------ connected to? how many major arteries are around this organ? btw, there r so many sample questions online, u can google it
  20. finding out the location of major organs n how they really look like taking a look at the major viens n arteries to measure the length of the pigs large n small instestine to measure the number of lobes of the liver measuring and locating major glands **in my grade 11 class, we did fetal pig dissection, and we had 4 worksheets to complete
  21. so i'm doing this little presentation tommorow in class, n it's about organic reduction. I am familiar with most of the basics, but i donnu answer to this one: ==> how do u predict the products of an organic reduction? ne ideas? thanx
  22. i blame the media. Media does too little to emphasize on the importance n beuty of science. Who runs the media?
  23. (to the original poster ==>)i think u r generalizing a bit here. I don't think curious kids would ever lose thier interest in science. I know a lot, and i mean, A LOT, of kids in my high school who like science, and also, a lot who don't. I think these days all the science educators are doing thier best to make science eye catchy or some thing like that. Most kids start to believe that science is always in color, n that's how they like it. But point is, science is also black n white, meaning it's not alwayz the nice n "cool" experiments involved, it involves hard work, pressure n competition. When some ppl start to see this black n white side of sience, they give up, cuz it no longer interests them. However i do agree that media is IGNORING science, n alwayz focusing on stupid things like the music blah blah blah or dance or top model stuff. I mean come on, who's the engineer behind that scene? which doctor helped that pop star? they never say these things. That's bit disappointing in my point of view.
