  1. Sure. Like being a foster parent, or social worker, or raising your own chickens.
  2. I've no doubt that what you are doing is helpful in some very small way. But it is not much, and its focus is narrow. If you have children then you are doing more to harm animal welfare than you've ever alleviated by being vegan. I give money to people on the street but I recognize that while it makes me feel good about myself, it really does virtually nothing to help the problem. Indeed, I may unknowingly be contributing to bigger problems. On the other hand I am focusing on people instead of cows, so there's that. Unless you are willing to exit this world, you are likely doing it more harm than good. Veganism is a nice gesture, but it is not much more than that.
  3. Thanks for the clarification. Well then we are just the same! We both put making our lives easier and tastier over the welfare of animals.
  4. So what is it? You don't support any product that employs cruelty, or you are willing to accept cruelty if it is for a product that you want? Like everyone else, you are picking and choosing what level of impact you are willing to accept. You won't accept the impact to a cow, but you will accept it to birds and certain ground animals because you like that coffee table. Short of ending your own life, if you want to minimize your impact on animals you can have the most impact by not reproducing. Veganism is about doing what you can with respect to what you eat, not with any other aspect of your impact on other life. Not buying furniture to avoid the impact on animal habitat is not "making your life impossible". Veganism is only one small thing that people can do, and it is far from the most impactful.
  5. Mouse traps? Wasp and ant spray? Hydroelectric dams? Vegetables grown in fields that were once animal habitat? Homes built of wood that came from trees that housed squirrels? I can go on for hours. You are going to have a hard time finding any products whose production didn't harm one animal or another.
  6. If they had symptoms before then the disorder was already there. Essentially, without the symptoms there is no disorder.
  7. If you are napping in your car at lunch with the windows rolled up and it is hot outside, I don't think your car cooler is going to keep you comfortable enough to sleep. At night you can keep the windows rolled up anyway as it shouldn't get hot enough to kill anyone inside.
  8. I agree. I blame the Democratic leadership as much as the people who voted for Trump for the mess we've found ourselves in. While speaking for the poor and abused is a noble goal, the Democratic leadership ignored much of the rest of the electorate.
  9. Come on, let's not start with Guilt by Association.

  11. Is it not unnatural for any mammals to chew down trees and build dams? I can't think of another mammal other than beavers that chew down trees and build dams.
  12. A lot of conversations I've seen on this story suggest there was a great deal of luck involved. At over two miles there are simply too many variables involved to make that kind of shot with any regularity.
  13. You don't ever remember anyone being disappointed in you, or angry with you?
  14. Maybe you live in an area where most Germans are Jews. I grew up in St. Louis which has a population heavy with ethnic Germans, and I never once met a German who was Jewish.
  15. Was it? You make it sound as if we existed before we were alive. Is that what you are intending to say?
  16. No, they are not taught the Pope speaks for God on earth, nor that he over rules Jesus. If you are going to criticize the religion, at least try to understand the basics, otherwise you'll simply be dismissed as a religious bigot.
  17. It is. I'm in awe of their abilities. Excellent! May I ask the name of the CD?
