  1. @ Ten oz

i was talking to a person and i also told him something that hinted that time arises out of motion only....

I said, 'when i push a ball it moves,

when i push it harder, it moves further....where is time in all this...'

He said, ' when you push a ball.............for how long?'

What should be my answer to his question...

  2. i forgot the name of the philosopher ( some Bishop...) who said that god has put images in the minds of living beings/human beings.....these images are consistent as people agree on them and so they 'think' that they are experiencing an 'external' reality....

SFTVP ( Seeing From This View Point )......it can be easily guessed who's in control.....

  3. It is said nothing can happen without time and some even say that time was even present before the big bang ( otherwise an activity called big bang could never have happened)....

So, what created time.......some esoteric/unknown entity or activity?

Are such questions worth dicussing....to begin with?

  4. @ mordred

i went through both the papers.....much of the math was beyond me....

but...one thing came to my mind that.....

in both the papers, 'the concept of measurement' was pressed into service to say that ' measurement beyond plank scale is not possible'....

In other words, the measuement above/at plank length is 'okay'..........but.........the measurement below plank length is ' not okay'.....

i think sth is missing here....

moreover......i think.....infinity cannot be contained at all...whether it's the small scale or the scale of the universe....

  5. imo, there are some similarities between the initial state of the universe ( lowest entropy) and the last stage of the universe ( highest entropy) e.g.

Particles moved randomly in the initial state and they will also move randomly in the final state....so, lowest and highest entropy seem somewhat similar....

u said that if a photon ( a unit of EM energy) has high enough energy to measure plank length, it would turn into a black hole...

Does this mean that extremely large concentration of energy also leads to a black hole?

imo, infinite no. of waves can be superimposed on one another without leading to a black hole...

  7. @ swansont

Whenever a photon is to be emitted or two electrons come together or an electron comes near the nucleus etc. etc., a change takes place...calculations are done and it is said absorption/emission/repulsion/attraction has taken place....

    This is rudimentary technology, imo

Once things improve, events even below plank time will be well in reach....

  8. @ swansont

imo, the problem is that when we talk of photon emission/absorption , the time involved can be even small than the plank time.....we cannot be sure of the time intervals in such cases...

moreover, when BPT is unknown and every activity has to encounter it, it means that every thing/activity passes from the unknown/supernatural to natural in a way that is unknown to us...

  9. @ swansont

Plank time has to come in every activity because every activity has to 'start' in time. So, it means every activity has to start from zero time and then has to move forward in time...

In other words, every activity has to encounter the time period that is not defined because it is below plank time and then move forward in time...reach plank time....and move forward in time.

  10. @ rktpro

i went through the article...i think the negative sign is because of convention....

i think that a 2p electron has both KE and PE greater than that of a 3s electron....

  11. @ strange

Do you mean to say that the time required for the exitation of the EM field is always greater than the plank time...

Even if such is the case, the exitation cannot happen if the time below the plank time hasn't been traversed first...

So, do you want to say that 'to hell with below plank time', we are concerned with the exitation that happens at or above plank time?

  12. @ swansont

you said the plate doesn't change.....

IMO there is no absolute plate to talk about, just like there is no absolute speed to talk about....a plate to me can be a dot to somebody else...

moreover, when the main stays of our universe ( space, time) are not absolute....shouldn't sth absolute be the aim of science, rather than saying that science has no absolute aim...

  13. When I think something and that produces dopamine (or any other chemical) in my body/brain, it is not at all clear how 'thinking' influences atoms/molecules and enhances their production...

Moreover, when I lift my hand, it is not at all clear how the 'thought' instructs the neurons of my brain, which then eventually tell the muscles and sinews in my hand/arm to lift my hand up...

As far as hitting a road block, when we have to say 'I don't know', these road blocks will keep on occuring ad infinitum even if we have found everything/god/the underlying consciousness/the matrix/whatever.....

  14. @ Janus

You gave the example of different views of a plate...if someone derives an equation for these views, would you call that a law of the universe, a relativity law?

So, why say something same for relativity when basically it tells of different views of a plate called universe....

  15. SCHOLARLY ACT

A Scholar was going his way home. He unknowingly stepped on a babana peel, fell down and bruised his nose very badly.

Somehow, he got up and started moving forwards. After walking for sometime, he saw another banana peel lying in his way.

He stopped and started thinking about the second banana peel. After much deliberations in his mind, he said to himself,

'Oh my god! I will have to slip over this one also.'
