  1. Arrr! So that's why he kept saying aye!
  2. I'll wait a few days to see the changes then make a new argument. Thanks for the encouragement. Are posts still checked before being posted in the News Forum?
  3. Oh, sorry, I didn't realize the stats were on the forum Index. I know how to view the new posts, it was just easier to have it all right there. I'll give up on the portal idea seeing how it is apparently inconvenient for almost everyone else.
  4. I especially liked how it had the new posts and the news if it was updated more often. Also, I liked the stats even though it wasn't very important. So if it's possible, just a small box on the side of the Forum Index to show the new posts would make me happy.
  5. I'm not sure where this belongs, so sorry if it's it the wrong forum or if it belongs in a thread i missed. Anyway, I am creating this thread to bring up points about the changes to the forums that I really don't like. 1. The home page. Dave (I think it was Dave, at least) said that the home page was taken out because people come here to see the forums. I disagree. I actually like the home page; it was a collection of everything you needed (except the forum list) on the website. It was very dissapointing when I came here yesterday and all I could get to is the Forum Index. Please, let's just hold a discussion about what should go on it and where, and possibly bringing it back. 2. Debates. What the heck happenned to the debate forum? I mean, I know it was unpopular, but I had a plan to spark an interest on SFN. 3. News Team. Ahhh! What happened to the News Team?! As I have returned from my idle state on SFN, I plan to start posting news again, and I loved the system of the News Team. Ugh... A final statement. Recently, I have noticed that the overall quality of SFN has gone down. There is not as much science, and it's been replaced by sarcasm. Sarcasm's fun, but it belongs in General Discussion and Chat, not mixed in with evolution topics. I really hope the forum changes will bring SFN back so I can enjoy wasting my time on the computer once more. -herpguy
  6. At school, wondering why we couldn't go outside for recess.
  7. He built my interest in animals... Ugh
  8. The National Hurricane Center now says there will only be five hurricanes this year. http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20060901/sc_afp/usweatheryear
  9. The U.S. looks like it is beginning to show signs of at least a small change.
  10. This is a video I found that says the towers did not collapse on their own and why. I thought it should go in this thread. http://youtube.com/watch?v=bkoMOeBH-zM

    OpenSci?

    Who can't get me?

    OpenSci?

I have no idea what any of those things are, but I'm scared. Very scared...

    OpenSci?

I was viewing the Members Online and saw that there was a bot going to something called OpenSci. I decided to find out what it is and went to opensci.net. The page didn't give out much information, but it says it's part of the Science Forums Network, and it shows recent posts in the forums and who's online. So what's OpenSci and why don't I know about it? Thanks.
  14. Ugh. How can someone ignore the evidence??? Carbon levels in the atmosphere were a very large factor in warming and cooling periods in the past. Don't certain things volcanoes release into the atmosphere actually cool the earth??? Darnn skeptics. This thread was not meant to have discussion over whether AGGs are the primary factor of global warming. I was simply asking if anyone is doing anything to helo the environment.
  15. Conserving energy. Driving less. Turning off your computer. What are you doing to help slow global warming?
  16. Tropical Depression Four just formed and it looks like it will intensify into Tropical Storm Debby. However, conditions are unfavorable for it to become a hurricane, which lowers the chances of my prediction to be correct. http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/text/refresh/MIATCPAT4+shtml/212033.shtml and it's also
  17. From what I've seen on National Geographic Channel, it is evolution. A smaller jaw provides more brain space, which is the advantage.
  18. My official prediction: 10-11 named storms 7 Hurricanes 4-5 Major Hurricanes An El Nino is forming which should lower the number of named storms. However, with the warm water in the Carribean, I think many of the systems that develop will be catastrophic.
  19. Yes, conservationist, that's what I try to be.
  20. Me: You are an environmentalist and you grew up in the city Though I suppose I'm not exactly an environmentalist, I just care about the environment... Edit: Yay, I'm a molecule!
  21. Darn, you beat me to it. I'm just curious, does anyone here disagree with this decision?
  22. **Begins learning Icelandic** I actually thought that the US would be around where Finland is.
