Suppose you filled the "indestructible" styrofoam with lead? Merged post follows: Consecutive posts merged You're probably right, any good soldier wouldn't let indestructible bullets fly into enemy territory. Especially if it is a new invention. It would most likely be used as armor. Just one indestructible tank would level a heavily guarded city assuming it had enough ammo.

Wouldn't you get a bit nervous if an indescructable tank rolled down your street?...
-
Sadly, someone would use it to take lives too...

I just asked him, and he said I got that mixed up and that matter when going close to the speed of light will start to resemble radiation. He said its called matter waves.

I was talking with my dad the other day who has a Masters degree in astrophysics. We got talking about light particles and gravitons. My dad said that it is interesting that as a light photon's wavelength gets shorter, it starts to resemble matter. So I thought that if you could possibly give a photon enough energy (like the big bang) could you transform it into matter? My second theory. If the concept of the graviton is correct, I thought of a gravitons as very tiny ropes that extend from a piece of matter, and as soon as a graviton found another piece of matter, then the "ropes" would pull them closer together. But my dad asked how would these "ropes" know where to find matter? wouldn't the ropes just bypass some matter as they spread out? So this is probably evidence that gravity acts like a wave, or a field. So if gravity is both a wave and a particle. (Assuming it is) couldn't gravity be a higher form of light? Please correct me if I am wrong.

Okay... What element would be closest to being indestructible?
-
I just watched one of the X-men movies. Apparently, Wolverine has the adamantium claws that are "indestructible". I know that such an element/compound cannot possibly exist. But this got me thinking; what is the closest element/compound to being indestructible?

The point of the game is to have it: If you tell you may be able to get a moderate jail time or no jail time. If you don't tell then you either get little jail time or a lot. Here is a game that is like this: Merged post follows: Consecutive posts mergedI've heard that in some scicology college classes, they split the class up into groups and have them play this game. If you team wins then everyone in your team gets the highest grades. If you split it then you all get roughly the same grade.

I didn't know what else to put up.

I was reading through one of my chemistry books, and I stumbled across these several paragraphs: "You see, in order for all atoms except hydrogen-1 to exist, we must have neutrons. Well, it turns out that the neutron is just slightly more massive than the proton. It's a good thing, too. Nuclear chemistry experiments indicate that the neutron must be more massive than the proton, or it would no exist! Calculations indicate that if the mass difference between the neutron and the proton were changed by as little as 0.2%, all neutrons would spontaneously decay into protons." "As we have already noted, protons are positively charged while electrons are negatively charged. These opposite charges are what hold the electrons to the atom, keeping them from flying away from the nucleus. The problem is, in order for the atom to be stable, the charges must be precisely balanced. According to our best measurements, the proton has exactly as much positive charge as the electron has negative charge. That's a good thing, too, because calculations indicate that if the charges were out of balance by as little as 0.00000001%, all of the atoms in our bodies would instantaneously explode!" (There are other paragraphs like this. But right now I'm to lazy to write them all. ) So, I would think that there are so many "coincidences" that I find it impossible for anyone who really understands physics or chemistry to believe that all this we are studying just came about by chance! The universe is too perfectly designed for that. From the smallest atom to the largest galaxy, incredible design features abound in our universe. These design features I believe are the fingerprints of God. The sciences make me believe in God, more everyday. What do you guys think?

What is trolling? I've seen that users have been baned or suspended because of that. The only description I can find is "singing". Thanks

I don't know if this is the right place to post this. But, I was wondering how you would win the game "Prisoners Dilema". This is how you play it: You and another person commited a crime. You can either decide to tell on the other person or stay silent. If you both stay silent, then you both serve 1 year in jail. If you decide to tell on the other person and the other person stays silent, then the person who was silent will go to jail for 10 years and you get to go free, vice versa. However if you both tell on each other then you both go to jail for 5 years. Assuming you need to get the least amount of jail time then your partner by X amount of minutes/hours/ect. How could you win this?

It was something with global temperatures. I don't have the specifics, you might have to look it up. I saw it in the news somewhere.

I don't know... Some scientists destroyed 100 years worth of data recently...

In stead of (2+2) x 0. I just cancelled each of the (2 - 2) out. You can do that can't you?

What does alcohol do to your body that makes people drunk?...

Here is a strange equation I found: a=b a^2 = ab a^2 - b^2 = ab - b^2 (a + b)(a - b) = b(a - b) a + b = b (a = b) a + a = a 2a = a 2 = 1 This still works, even if you substitute "a" and "b". 2 = 2 2^2 = 2(2) 2^2 - 2^2 = 2(2) - 2^2 (2 + 2)(2 - 2) = 2(2 - 2) 2 + 2 = 2 4 = 2

From one of my chemistry books, I stumbled upon the following equation: C12H22O11 + H2O + 3O2 => 2C6H8O7 + 4H2O The book explains that the product is citric acid, and I already know that the reactant is table sugar. I was wondering how I could make this. Thanks Merged post follows: Consecutive posts mergedI was thinking of burning sugar water somehow. But I don't think that will work...

In this video, it shows some caesium in water. But in this video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCk0lYB_8c0&feature=related, it says caesium in water is like setting off a bomb in water. Which one is more correct? Is caesium that reactive?
-
I'm with caesium. My military call sign is Caesius, which caesium was named after. Not only is it very reactive with other elements, it also looks cool. Like gold mixed with mercury. (I know they react together, I'm talking about their colors. Goldish-Silver)

Can the speed of SOUND actually slow down?
Caleb replied to japan rocks/andromeda's topic in Astronomy and Cosmology
Sound can also be absorbed into objects and bounce off of objects. -
How would you be able to predict how many bonds a substance might have? Ex. If you burn Iron (Fe) in Oxygen (O2), what are the possible compounds? I know for Iron these are possible. Fe2O3, FeO, and Fe3O4. But how would you predict it if you burned Zirconium (Zr) or Tungsten (W) which have different oxidation numbers?
