  1. I personally favor Rail Guns or anything involving massive amounts of magnetism, this would only be feasible for interstellar travel as anything that left one on earth would be obliterated. As for inter galactic travel, I own michio kaku's Physics of the impossible, and he describes how massive fusion bombs released through a blast sheid could bring a ship to "nearly" light speed.
  2. I get these as well, they appear almost siveresque, I usually get them after sitting up quickly while i have been sitting down for extended periods of time. Alas this is only for a breif flight of time as my vision starts to go black (: I see that there is most like likely no "remedy" for such things. I am sorry if this has caused you discomfort in any way.
  3. BEHOLD MY ENDLESS WISDOM! We'll find out what is what when we find out, whilst there is always a thirst for knowledge one has to stop and think, If we know everything, aren't we going to leave the next generation a little high and dry? As for the whole technical part, there is "technically" an edge but if you trust einstein, you'll never reach it.
  4. My bad I talk so much about tsar bomba, and yet I still forget to center my post around it.
  5. I can offer little help other than find the operators manual, go on a live chat with a support technician, or turn your monitor on it's side and make due. i'm very sorry i cannot give detailed instructions on how to remedy the issue, alas i wish you the best of luck.
  6. If i had a safe aerial vantage point I would go to the marshall islands, specifically bikini, and witness the most powerfull explosion to ever occur on earth...or if i'm feeling especially adventurous i'd go into space and watch one of the most powerful explosions in the universe the massive nova that will be VY Canis Majoris!!
  7. Hey i'm One of the Few, and i am! Out of the 6 billion people on the planet i am one of the only 14 year olds that are obsessed with physics, chemistry, and cosmology. I even correct my teacher (who has a master's in the subjects) on a regular basis.
  8. That was hilarious! i actually found a link to a test of all the alkali metals up to caesium and this was mere grams, imagine whole kilograms. Or in a hypothetical sense imagine a kilogram of francium in the ocean...
  9. I have always thought this, when we die and lose all conciousness are we able to observe the entire universe at all points of time. In heaven can we go through time and become the gaurdian angel of any person I desire. Or are our souls trapped on earth and we roam as ghosts of terror, joy, and inspiration. I want to know what happens and be able to tell someone.
  10. This may have already been mentioned...the quality of the camera was so poor because it was the sixties, and as wee ALL know video recording was in its infancy, of course it was so crummy.
  11. well if you look at it like this is a science forum...e.g. liberals, note this is very stereotypical and I am aware that a great portion of this crowd is conservative. but this is just something i have observed with the current state of the scientific community. If I have offended anyone with this post I appologise, it is merely an obserebvation.
  12. I try to remain neutral but i must say i am a liberal, but i still think socialism is superior. I mean the EU's economy is 15% percent better.
  13. I recently did a project on blackholes and yes a point has no dimensions...but since so little is known about black holes we cannot help but make such references, the waterfall was merely an analogy for the gravitational forces not much else.
  14. Ugly: I'm carpooling with five other people.
  15. Mooeypoo, very good analogy with the boat. But fancy me this, what about the rest of the river. And for the fact that you cannot go faster than light, that is not true. If one were to "exit" the universe Einstein's relativity would not apply, for there is no space or time to impede FTL travel. Also i realize one cannot "exit' the universe due to the curvature of space-time one would arrive at the opposite end of the universe, it's hypothetical.
  16. Ok, next one. Good: I just got an iPhone
  17. Honestly, i wasn't expecting such a complex answer. Thank you for the input. I made up the puzzle in the fourth grade:)
  18. I believe that after a sufficent amount of magnetic force one would experience some effect to the nervous system but note this, one's body is mostly comprised of carbon and water both of which have very little magnetism. That's my opinion.
  19. For all of you mathematicians out there i already know that it is impossible. If anyone can figure this out i will be genuinely amazed. connect the dots of this series of dots on a piece of paper without lifting your utensil or going back over a line. Also the lines between the dots must be directly from one to another the dots are like this: one on top, one below it, and two below that in a trianglular shape Best of luck, One of the Few
  20. Alight i have been wanting to start one of these for a long time:-) For all of you that are not familar with The Good The Bad and The Ugly... heres how it goes, first some one posts a good such as "My son just got into college." the the next person does a bad "He had an affair with his english teacher." and then the next person does an ugly like "So did I." and it repeats over and over and over until a moderater finds a reason to close the thread. So let the threading BEGIN. Good: I just got a new laptop.
  21. Ok i'm not an expert on the subject but, worm holes are quite possible just not proven. You mentioned that worm holes are inside black holes, I am going to have to correct you on that one, from what i have read worm holes connect two points in the same universe while black holes connect two separate universes. And about it only traveling in one direction thats a tough one to call but i have heard of two way worm holes before
  22. "Gravity doesn't hold together the entire universe." Alright I believe I used the term "universe" a bit loosely. By universe I meant all that which resides inside the universe eg. planets, moons, stars, solar systems etc.
  23. Here is my thought, contrary to Klaynos, gravity in its entiry is indeed quite monstrous it holds together the entire universe, while on earth a mere child can manipulate it. But here is an example of how I can prove its expansion, imagine this one can only register that which is confined to the speed of light, so in light of all this one can assume, that if we cannot see the edge of the universe either there is an object in the way or it is accelerating faster then light and thus we cannot visualize it. I would be delighted if you could offer a rebudle or even contradict me.
