  1. Wow! That is a great explanation. Do you mind if I copy that to use for my electrical apprentice theory class? ; I will leave the "happy now? (idiot)" part out of the discussion however.
  2. The capitalistic economy is one of the best possible systems if done from a "bottom to top" idealology. The United States and other leading nations have lost there way and operate in a "top to bottom" method. There are many examples where bringing people to a social structure instead of bringing the social structure to people have been very succesful. Its the Fortune 500 and the big corporations that are ruining this world. Just my opinion.
  3. Hold your hand in position like you are hitch-hiking. Your thumb represnets the direction of current flow in the conductor. The direction your fingers wrap around is the direction of conductor flux. Another way to look at is if current is towards you, then the flux is clockwise north to south. If current is flowing away from you, then the flux is counterclockwise north to south. A neat experiment to show this magnetic effect around a current carrying conductor is to pass a conductor through a peice of paper. Scatter iron filings around the conductot. Energize the ends of the conductor with a 9-volt battery and watch the iron. Now, reverse the connection on the terminals and watch the iron filings again. Notice the iron will arrange itself in the above metioned orientation. This is the effect that iteracts with the magnetic flux of the generator magnets.
  4. Lets step it up a notch: You have two containers. 1 holds three gallons, the other holds 5. Put exactly 4 gallons in the 5 gallon container. (It doesnt matter if you dont know how much a gallon is) and You are trying to get to Truthville. You come to a fork in the road. One way goes to Truthville ( where everyone tells the truth), the other goes to Liartown (everyone is a liar). A man comes from one of the twons to the fork in the road. What one question can you ask him to know exactly which way is to Truthville? Have fun!
  5. What's so rude? I asked you nicely, and it's all fact. :toilet:
  6. It is a serious misconception that the best time to take an exam is as soon after exhausting cramming while the information is "fresh" in your mind. Dedicated study and commitment to memory has always proven to be the most reliable way to perform successfully on any type of exam. Besides, most college entrance exams are testing to see the students potential and ability to figure things out, and not necessarily see what the student as previously been taught. Its a fine line but an important one. KHinfcube22: Please remove the term "electrician" from your profile, or at least spell it correctly. Alot of training and education goes into becomming an electrician for some kid to throw around like it some sort of hobby. Thanks.
  7. Did you have to ruin it for everyone? Good Job!
  8. My two favorites are: A man hears a scream in the next room. He opens the door to find Mary crying, broken glass, water on the floor, and Bob dead. How did Bob die? And You open a barn door to find a man hanging by his neck from a rafter 15 feet above the floor with a large puddle of water below him. There are no ladders or stairs. How did the man hang himself? Everything you need to know is in the story.
  9. The lobby at the Royal Bank of Scotland, they funded his trip.
  10. Nikola Tesla had some of the greatest ideas and theories for electrical generation and distribution, but most have never been developed. The powers that be (oil companies) are not big fans of alternative power sources. Many of these companies hold the patents and research dollars for alternative power develpoment. Besides, in space, there is no better power source than the Sun. Spin generators, tether conductors, fuel cells; none of these have the potential of solar energy collection and photvoltaic processing.
  11. I am wondering if the light turns off when the door is shut in either of the two locations. That is the real question! :lame: I feel the temperatures would be the same in either fridge, but possibly the amount of run time and total power consumption of the fridge in London might be more. If a third identical fridge was dropped onto the equator somewhere, would you also assume that the temperature would be even warmer there? That doesnt make any sense to me. The refrigerator doesnt know where it is and could care less where it is. It cools to 5 degrees regardless of ambient temperatures. It just may work a little more or less depending on location. Right?
  12. I wasnt exactly making a scientific statement. Its called comedy, you laugh at it. You obviously need to have you funny bone checked, it sounds like it may be broken.
  13. What exactly is this resistive force you are talking about, and can you show these calculations? When the electromagnetic field is produced, and magnetic flux lines cut through the conductors, electrical current is created through electromagnetic induction. I do not see what force acts to resist the rotation?
  14. Then what does 10^23 Kelvin represent?
  15. This may seem like a weird question, but is it possible that time is intelligent? Time doesn't just exist like an atom or magnetic field, it actually has information and stores it. Plus it appears to know which direction it is suppose to travel, meaning forward. It kind of follows alot of the common sayings we all use: Time tells all, only time will tell, In good time, time is on our side, timing is everything, so on and so on. We seem to put alot of trust in value in time as we would a friend or family dog. Whens the last time you heard someone say, "gravity heals all wounds"? :bs: or not?
  16. Absolute zero has been deifined. Is there an established "Absolute Highest Temperature" in the universe? I imagine this was at the Big Bang, but is there a constant limit to matter and energy now?
  17. It is commonly understood that mass produces the effects of gravity. Is it also the case that energy itself produces gravity? If this is the case, don't gravity fields have energy, and wouldn't these energy fields also produce gravity, and so on for infinity?
  18. NASA and other space agencies do use and are developing space based generation systems based on rotating magnetic fields. A rotating loop of conductor will produce alternating current. This is not effective for space systems for a host of issues. Therefore, the ac would have to be converted to dc through the use of commutators that are not only ineffecient, but very restrictive. You would aslo have to establish and control a set rmp of the spinning loop in order to produce desired output voltage. In any case, these systems are generally not used directly and are only for the purpose of charging batteries. Having an infintite of electrical supply is useless if you do not have infinite storage or infinite use for it. A system is even being designed to extend a conductive tether from the space shuttle that will cut through the ionosphere and the Earths magnetic field. Cathodes along the tether will conduct electrons and create a potential to anodes at the vehicle that will collect the current into battery sets. Solar cells are still by far the best use of natural resources for the generation of electrical enrgy in space. Earth base systems are becomming more and more effiecent and cost effective everday. In ten years, solar generation will be second only to dinasaur fuel generation.
  19. For years it has been believed that light bulbs give off light. Recently, scientists have proven just the opposite. Instead of a light bulb giving off light, they actually suck dark. From now on, light bulbs will be called "dark suckers". Scientists in the laboratory have proven that dark has a heavier mass than light and that dark is faster than light. The dark sucker theory that light bulbs suck dark is based on an example such as the lamp in your living room. There is less dark close to the lamp than there is farther away from the lamp. The larger the dark sucker, the lighter the living room. Like other things, dark suckers don't last forever. Once they become full of dark, they can no longer suck. This is proven by the black spot on a dark sucker that is full. The first dark sucker was a candle. A new candle has a white wick. As the candle is used, the dark that is sucked up turns the wick black. The wick is a gauge to indicate the amount of dark that has been sucked up. If you held an object close to the wick of an operating candle, the object would turn black because it got in the path of the dark flowing into the wick. There are also portable dark suckers. The bulbs in a portable dark sucker cannot handle all the dark by themeselves, and must be aided by a dark storage unit. When the dark storage unit is full, it must be either emptied or replaced before the portable dark sucker can operate again. Sucking dark creates heat, thus it is dangerous to touch a candle while it is sucking dark. Dark is heavier than light. This is proven as one swims deeper, it gets darker and darker. This is because the dark sinks to the bottom and the light floats to the top. As you can see, the proof is undisputable. I am also working on a theory for my sound sucker. When I turn my sound sucker on, sound is drawn in from all around. What was once a quiet room is now full of sound as it is sucked into the sound sucker. Sometimes, I can hear sounds of people talking from far, far away. There appears to be no limit to the distance of sound suckability of my sound sucker. Portable sound suckers require sound storage units similar to the dark storage units. :bs: :lame: :toilet: :haha:

    Freeze...

Well, I guess it's all relative and a matter ones perspective. Water boils at high altitudes but certainly isn't hot, and uranium dusts ignite at room temperature. Who's to say! Not me! :haha:

    Freeze...

To me, the term 'freeze" implies the term "cold". I think a better definition would be a transfer from liquid to solid from the removal of heat. Obviously, things become soild at lower temperatures that would not be considered cold in respect to water freezing, but then freeze would not be a good term for those cases.
