I forgot to mention here, people don't get locked up, they are not prisoners and should not be treated like dirt under peoples feet. We're all in this together, and if the boat sinks, we all sink together. My boss at the end of March told us that we were not to attend work from the week after Monday, he did not say whether we would receive any money the week after or not. To date we've had no acknowledgement from the company about money and I've recently learned that the government are looking at paying us up to 80% of our wages from the end of April. If we have no funds to live on, how to we live to then? People who live day to day or week to week don't really need to worry about COVID-19 as hunger will kill them before the end of April.

I'm no expert in this subject at all, and if it were not so affecting humans to the degree it is worldwide, I'd probably of never had an interest to look in on the subject at all, however, that said, I think that some serious questions must be raised to ALL world leaders after this COVID-19 is resolved, if it can be resolved as Russian indicate that it might never be resolved.

A lot is now being done where schools and business are closing although some business are doing their best to keep open and active. In my trade the government control us and are currently advising that we can't stop Statutory testing and examining motor vehicles. Today I've read about some businesses saying that they are asking customers to turn off their heaters and remove any items in the vehicles like food stuff, cans, cups etc. How serious should this vivid 19 be taken as a working class person dealing directly with the public!

One should always try to live a life as relaxed as one can in the circumstances. No matter what everybody might think or believe, nobody has complete free will. What you can and can't do will come from various sources, such as one's ability to understand what one might want to do in their free will, and a main one these days being the society we live in, which does control what we can and can't do quite a lot nowadays.

Maybe a better question might be to ask who formed the earth and the environment so that the humans could occupy it in the beginning. If you are thinking of going back further than that, then maybe asking what or who had the consciences to understand and be able to form life in the beginning, even if that boils down to matter, atoms, fluids etc, who formed them and if the big bang enters the equation, who created and caused that ?

This is a long thread and I admit I've not read every post in it, but would just like to say that, if a person is ill in a mental state of one form or another, then any reasoning that person tries to put forward can't be taken seriously. A person must be of sound mind and put their views forward backed by evidence. I can however fully assure all readers that nobody will put evidence forward from bible scripture to convince anybody to believe in it, and the reason for this is because the bible is fully based on FAITH. If you choose not to believe in it, then you don't see the understanding, its a simple as that. It is said that the god of this system of things blinds the minds of disbelievers. I've also learned that the bible gets rewritten about every fifty years. I questioned this some time back with a religious group who told me that being inspired by god the wording used meant the same but was changed slightly because peoples languages are changing over time, i.e. the slang. I pointed out that in the book of Revelations that God Almightly was very specific in that he said in writing that the wording of the bible must NOT be altered, or words to that effect. Once I bought this conversation forwards the replies were not forthcoming. There is however a lot to be said for the funds that are generated as registered charities in these organisations. Looking at whether the flood ever took place or not we might never know. Am interesting point of view was once put to me from a farmer about the flood and the ark, and that was that if the ark contained two of all wild animals, domestic and otherwise, in a closed system that was supposedly sealed off, then the smell from the animals, the waist etc would have killed off the human lives there in the ark over that 40 days and nights of the flood period. Then the religious group came back with another good answer to that problem, where they said God has the power to put the animals to sleep through that time period and then wake them up when the time is right for them to go back to the wild. The only real things the human being knows is that we are here, we are alive for a time period and humans die. What we don't know and can't prove is whether we have lived before and or will live again after death in the future. As far as evidence and facts are concerned, the only ones available to us is that we are here now and conscience that we are alive at this time. Nobody can't dispute that evidence.

AIRBRUSH has a point. I work with one bloke to seems to give the impression that he hates people for some reasons or another. In a passing conversation a few days ago he did say if he got this virus that he would pass it to other people. As sick as that is I believe him, his mindset is deranged in some ways. As far as I'm concerned if I suspect anyone I work with of having this virus, they don't need to worry about passing it on or calling 111, I'll do it for them whether they agree or not.

Nobody I socialize with daily smokes, but handling money is something else. To me something about this vivod 19 or whatever its proper name is seems odd. Some weeks ago I first heard about it and it all started in China as far as the TV news was concerned. Quarantines were talked about and restricting peoples movements within a short period of time, then a few days later (or it appeared that way to me) the news was showing this virus in numerous countries all around the world, infecting thousands of people at that time. It seemed a little too quick for me for the virus to have spread so fast in so many countries and then so many people affected so quickly. It looked to me that the virus had been around much longer than the news presenters had advised the world population.

I'm no expert, but I'd of thought the Earth met those criteria very well. The Earth cannot survive without the Sun, everything living on it and growing from it would die, hence the sun is feeding the earth light and heat. Everything naturally grown from the earth appears to die in one sense or another, surely that is recycled waste? Recycled waste is not necessarily dead as far as the living planet earth is concerned, hence new trees grow, plants grow each year, so their seed must evolve from the waste of some description!

In fairness to what the above link says it is reasonable then to use common sense and keep clean, and ensuring that people with cold and flu like symptoms are kept at arms length.

Not having any understanding of this problem, which seems to be spreading according to the TV news (UK) my main concern (obviously) being me is to ask what is the likely chances of not being infected given that I work with three other UK individuals in a small business. We all live local and we deal with the public in reception each day but most are regular local customers. I've always had a salad lunch and a cooked meal for evening meal. I don't travel much anyway and most of the time stay local to where I live. Is there anything specific to watch out for?

So because Ice is less dense than water, when it thaws it expands. Have I got that correct?

I could be mistaken here, but natural water without any additive being added I was always lead to believe that when the temperature dropped below freezing that water would freeze, and when the temperature rises water expands and becomes liquid. In a car cooling system without antifreeze mixture added back in the early days the engines cooling systems used to freeze and no damage was caused during that period, but when the cooling system water temperature did rise again the increase in pressure in the cooling system engine block would force the core plugs out, and sometimes crack the block. I never experienced a cracked block with a frozen engine before thawing out I understand also that it is possible to get freeze burns from cold liquids and gasses like R134a, but whether the liquid/gas while the temperature is dropping below freezing is actually expanding outwards I don't know, and if that were the case, would that not cause physical damage to the components?

Was the earth always at an angle or was in knocked onto the angle it is at? I'm told today that if the earth was not at its present angle, that we would not experience the changes in the weather and climate, is this true?

None of the above really is my experiences with the Witnesses to which I socialized with them for a good few years. I found them to be kind and respectful people who chose to base their beliefs and experience on what they said was the truth, the truth being what was written in the bible. I understand that some people will see it as restrictive and dominant on the mind of people, but that is their way to educate and train the human brain out of this system of things. There are some really good sound reasoning from the scripture that people either choose to believe or not. A good example given to me over 20 years ago was about the ruler-ship of this world system of things. JEHOVAH Witnesses pointed out from scripture that there would be nine rulers (Kings) on this planet and after that there would be no more. The ninth ruler is the EU (European Parliament) and at that time twenty years or so ago it was pointed out to me that the ninth king was crumbling away at the heels, and when the heels give way the head will fall. I then asked what that actually meant! I was then advised that each country agreed to the membership of the EU but then started to go their separate ways and do their own things, thus this meant that the heels were deteriorating and the head was falling. Now the UK (GB) has been fighting again the EU for several years now to break free, and now as I understand it they have left the EU with no deal. So another country has left and the heels of the EU eroded some more. The bible says that the world will be a going concern when Jesus and his army arrives and takes over, the bible says this is the time of Armageddon and at that time ten's of thousands will die, but the bible goes on to say that they will also have to know why, so they won't die without knowing the truth first, but at Armageddon they won't be given a second chance to learn it either. I'm not too sure about this part, but I'm kind of thinking that when Armageddon actual does arrive that Jesus and his army will have to do very little, and I base this reasoning on the understanding that SATAN the word spirit creature that is misleading the world at the moment will know that his time is up, and therefore will be free for a short time to do as much destruction to the human race as he can, and I am to understand he has up to 12 legions of angels with him on his side. I'm quite confident I'm correct on this because when Jesus was on earth, Satan pointed the finger at Jesus and then Jesus said something along the lines of, I can have 12 legions of angels here now, and Satan then immediately backed off, so I have an understanding of his size of army. I'm also to understand the power of these angels, where the scripture advises that 1 angel over 1 evening actually took the lives of over 160,000 soldiers who the following morning were to destroy a community of common people sent by JEHOVAH to save them, so the human race today fighting an invisible force have no chance against them, hence JEHOVAH said that those taken under his wing will be saved, but that is not cast iron as the bible goes on to say that there will be survivors, so maybe Jesus and his angels are coming here not to completely destroy us, but to fight and take prisoners Satan and his demons until the final judgment. I can say that the good few years I spent with them I learned a lot about how the world system of things is unfolding, and now years later I am seeing the practical truth of the bible scripture. The world spirit does not want anyone to see what is coming and hence tries to preoccupy all peoples minds and keep everyone busy and focused on other ideas and matters that truthfully probably are not that important, we as a human race just think they are. But I do know this, based on my own personal experiences through my life long before I had ever heard of JEHOVAH's Witnesses or any other religion, I'd already had dealing with the spirit world through my childhood, so I positively know something is there, and since I got to understand JEHOVAH (Not his witnesses) and their views and opinions, I then got practical based experiences from the spirit world that was seriously in opposition to JEHOVAH and what he stands for.

MigL thanks for clearing that up for me. So when the books refer to voltage as pressure, actually then voltage is not pressure. If this is also true then some of these books can be very misleading.

Hello and thank you for reading my first post on this forum. I'm not part of any research departments or colleges etc, I'm just reading books of interest but seem to generate more questions than answers. I'm currently reading about the atom and its components. What I think I have learned to date is this; The atom is made up of protons, neutrons in a nucleus with orbiting electrons in shells or rings. My interest at the moment is about the nucleus and valence ring in regards to electricity. What started all this off was that I read in a science book that voltage does not move through materials like steel etc, so that got me thinking well I've worked with electricity all my life and come to realize that electric shocks can be fatal, and have experienced a few in my life. Also having worked on electrical wiring and circuits most of my life also has lead to experiences where I have experienced the odd electrical shock here and there through touching bare wires. Now I am to understand that voltage does not move through a conductor, so I have a piece of wire 1 metre long and put a 230V supply to one end, yet when I touch the opposite end the 230V is also present? Lets assume for this example that the wire is open circuit and totally impossible for electrons to flow through the wire, i.e. no current flow. If then the voltage is indeed the protons in the nucleus and they don't move, then what does move to permit voltage to pass to the opposite end of the wire?
