 here is brief explanation:

the moment of inertia (on its own axis)of cat is different on the branch compared to moment of inertia when falling . so does the angular velocity.  hence to conserve angular momentum it twist itself..

newton's third law is the basic principle here,but we can imagine a pseudo force acting on the rocket to conserve linear momentum.
