    @Sensei yep, youre right. But still you f up ;)

    Also, if I recall correctly Silvestru is Romanian. I’m sure you know that Poland and Romania are two different countries.

    Sorry Koti, and Sensei, have been away a while. Very interesting and unfortunate view. Most polish people are appalled by such extremists as I'm sure Koti is as well.

    In my humble opinion from this point, the young educated people just need to vote in bigger number for the right government.

    I really love that country and I have traveled to most EU countries and few other and it's hands down my favorite. I dream to return there in my later days.

    Sorry for the subjective rant.

    There is a range when it comes to those proposing alternative ideas. Many are just filling in the gaps in their understanding with things that make more sense than the mainstream science they fell behind on. Science knowledge is so layered, but humans will try to fill in patterns based only on what they know, so it often seems to them that they've discovered something basic nobody else knows about. These folks just need better knowledge, but it's like any other kind of renovation; you have to remove the old junk before you can put the new stuff in.

    Some of those folks get so adamant about being right that they lose perspective and refuse to listen to any corrections in their stances. They ridicule and insult because everyone seems to not understand the simplicity of their arguments, and instead offer up useless evidence to refute what they should be trying to understand. Q-reeus was one of those, and it takes us a while to make sure our assessment is correct before banning these folks. It wouldn't have been fair to ban him after just a few posts revealed his disdain for mainstream knowledge, not without giving the other members a chance to chisel through a thick skull.

    We sure do appreciate when the membership reports posts from these folks. We obviously don't want to interrupt a discussion to point out every fallacious statement made, and we hope that most of them get pointed out by the participants in order to improve the arguments. But we also know how frustrating it is when you offer evidence and it's ignored in favor of incredulity or gut feelings or eternal skepticism. In the face of almost overwhelming confirmation bias, I think our members do a good job of isolating misunderstanding and misinformation so it can be hunted down and eradicated.

    Fair point, we should report members or posts that become unprofessional and admins will review. I never had a real problem with threads exceeding their lifetime. I just feel bad when I see someone well-intentioned wasting time on someone who is not open for a discussion and prefers preaching.

    The thing is, sometimes, people don't know what they don't know and are genuinely naive to the rigours of scientific discussion. It would be unfair not to give  everybody the benefit of the doubt initially, so that we don't frighten off those that are genuinely naive and don't have an ego and agenda to promote; rare though that they are.

    I totally agree but let's be honest. I can give you actual examples if you want where members are very obtuse and stubborn and refuse to provide any data, the back and forth's go on for 6 pages then the OP goes overboard, starts insulting members participating in the thread and only then the thread gets closed.

    Even for Speculations you are requested to provide evidence for your claims.

  4. Hello forum,

    Recently I have been reading more and more threads of people trying to disprove well established science with their own pet theories.

    I totally understand engaging in a polite discussion and explaining why they are incorrect in their assumption but doing a ridiculous back and forth for 7 pages while the OP refuses to provide any model or evidence...in my view is a waste of time and it clogs this wonderful forum that I hold so dear.

    I know there have been backlashes from even veteran members about the closing of some threads but can't we have a forum rule that if you propose a new theory you have to provide some data, some maths, something, even if it turns out to be incorrect.

    If we would all agree on such a system I think the forum would be much cleaner and pleasurable to read.

    Rule: If you bring forward a new theory that (attempts to?) disproves or ads something new to mainstream science, you need to provide the evidence or calculation that lead you to this conclusion.

    Why on earth would you do that?

    So I can escape article 13 haha. Jokes aside, me and my partner both found good jobs there so we will give it a try.

    I have been living in Poland for the last 6 years and it's great, really but I am still young and I figured my life plan is to focus on the financials for a few years and then have enough to retire peacefully. I would prefer to relax in my 40's and 50's and focus more on cubs. This went a bit off-topic from computer help haha.

    ..so I will have one last question.

    ...I doubt it.. ;)

    Well Sadly, all these CSS HTML questions are for some projects at work. That's why I am not making too much public like print screens and stuff.

    This is my last month here as I decided to move to UK so I can promise you Sensei haha that I will not continue working on this in my new work. :)

    I love my colleagues here and that's why I am going the extra mile.

  8. Hello team,

    You guys helped me out lots before with share point stuff so I will have one last question.

    I have my share point site open on my monitor which is connected to my laptop. When I move my page to the monitor, the zoom goes to 150% and it's zoomed in. (image is not displaying as it should.

    When I move it back to my monitor it goes to 62%(not even the original 100%). I tried with the code below but it did not solve the issue.

    I am sure that my SharePoint site is at fault as I tried with other SharePoint sites (not made by me) in the same conditions and they would resize the text/image to perfectly fit the screen.

    Please let me know if you can help :(

    <style type="text/css">

    body {

    width: 100%;

    height: 100%;

    }

    </style>
  9. I enjoy watching combat sports. I know it sounds anticlimactic but I think the more risk the more entertainment. A loss in curling is just a loss, a loss in a muay-thai match can mean end of you career. Actually a win can also mean that sometimes.

    Netflix have made a documentary about flat-Earthers. It shows how they do two experiments in an attempt to prove the Earth is flat but instead (spoiler!) the results are consistent with the Earth being round. Which, of course, changes no ones' minds.

    Finally someone qualified proved beyond a doubt what we were all speculating. Next documentary is about anti-vaxxers I'm sure.

    Okay. Let's try this instead:

    #sideNavBox span.menu-item { background-color: red; }

    Hello Sensei, Strange. Thank you both very much!

    This quoted option was the one that did it. You guys really helped me out.

  12. 2 minutes ago, Strange said:

    Most browsers have some sort of "Inspect Element" option (e.g on the right-click context menu) which will display the structure of the HTML and CSS that is rendered. This should let you select the part of the display that you want to modify and find out what class (as in .menu-item-text) is associated with it. Or, if it doesn't have a specific class, you might need to find a higher level element in the hierarchy that does and then specify the path to the thing you want to change.

    I didn't think of that! Truth be told I am a beginner at this.

    image.png.30867bb26bccae5b3a2e8e0f43a2c2d1.png

    I suspect it's this item after inspecting but still not sure how to write the code.

  13. Hey Sensei. Thank you for your help but this refers specifically to the left hand side navigation bar. Your links would change the entire background. :(

    I am specifically looking for C# for SharePoint.

    For example the code that I pasted in OP has this effect:
    I need to change the background of just this left menu.

    Capture.PNG

    I thought it would be something like:  .menu-item-background { color: red; }

  14. Hello Forum,

    In share point I am able to change the font colour of the left menu using the below:

    Quote

    <style>

    span span .menu-item-text { color: red; }

    </style>

    Could you please help me change the actual background colour with a similar script?

    Thank you!

    I know many people that go in or have been in depression/burnout.

    What can cause this? It's very secular where I live, can this be related?

    Do you have a repetitive job or lifestyle or stale relationship?
    You should consult with a professional but if we are discussing this topic, the solution is most likely change.

    Do you have a job where you are just crunching numbers all day and have no contact with other people?  Maybe you have a very stressful job that requires you to sacrifice your personal life.
    After job, do you just go home and watch Netflix or play games every day and have the same routine?
    Are the relationships in life partner/friends very boring and meeting seeing them sometimes feel like an obligation more than something you look forward to?

    I guess these are a few common points that cause burnout depression.

    Maybe something is missing in their life. An ambition a dream, a goal.
    Where I live I feel like a main reason for depression in people is loneliness or being with the wrong person again for fear of loneliness.

    so, back to the original question since weve got the fundamentals of magnetism layed down. Can such a device be built to quite literally suck in or funnel the Earths magnetic field or even fields from magnets and get usable electricity out of it?

    This has been kinda tried, read below:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_tether_missions

    Quote

    Projections indicated that the motion of the long conducting tether through the Earth’s magnetic field would produce an EMF that would drive a current through the tether system.

    Turn's out it's a really inefficient way to produce energy.

    PS:  I just read about this today! :P

    Shell stock prices at the beginning of October 2018 were even for 30 euros, in the day you wrote above words costed 28.2. After 15% discount, it's ~26 and ~24.5 respectively. Current (today) price of Shell stocks is 26.32 euros... The trend is downward... Looks like entire discount vanished..

    What was absolute price per stock you bought them?

    image.png.6529789fc1da7c971df1ea8583e56c45.png

    Not really. Bought them for 25.95 without discount. In this moment they are 26.30. So very small gain even without discount.

    All I can say is that prices fluctuate :P

    But I am not here to talk about share plans haha. I wanted others to share their plans as well and hopefully to inspire each other.

    Oh Sensei I just realised the confusion. So the shares are bought on the first business day of the new year. Even though I was contributing throughout the year.

  18. "My father never went to college so it was really important I go to college. After college, I called him long distance and said, now what? My dad didn't know. When I got a job and turned twenty-five, long distance, I said, now what? My dad didn't know, so he said, get married. I'm a thirty-year-old boy, and I'm wondering if another woman is really the answer I need."

    Happy new year! Now 2018 is over and we reaped the benefits from the share scheme.

    I've also been painting and selling for some small profit this year so I would like to thank you all for the support and encourage you to save/invest for your future.

    So as my quote suggests: Now what? :)

    • I was thinking to craft something and sell like I've been doing with paintings but I have no inspiration.
    • I was thinking of buying a 3-D printer and make stuff and sell it. (like a vase and other home stuff).
    • Opening a Pet Hotel.

    As you can see I am low on ideas. How have you guys been? Not wasting money on useless stuff I hope.

  19. I was thinking of what makes me most happy in my day to day life and I would have to say art

    I realised that the games I like to play or the things I like to watch are all somehow connected to art. (nothing sophisticated or pretentious)

    I paint as a hobby in my free time while listening to music and I love watching beautifully made visual documentaries - all art connected I would say.

    consumption isn't need

    I didn't say it is. You seem to have answered your own question. We can now debate the term need. Or we can talk about how good marketing strategies are and how they trained your mind and that of many others to have the feeling that the hole inside and the feeling of unhappiness or incompleteness can disappear if only you would get your hands on this new see-through toaster that lets you see exactly at what stage of development your toast is.
