How dare I talk about anything at all ever oh mr. wise man godlike creature how blessed I am that you have graced my post with your divine word...

And thank you for your downvotes and how thankful I am that we all have you to put me in my place.

I certainly didn't "downvote" you (though I am now sorely tempted to).

My question that you refer to was a general one addressed to anyone who reads the thread.

Do I have obligation to please you? Do you need ME to work everything out for you? Why can no one think for themselves? What does it matter what think? What do YOU think!? That is the reason for the post!!!

It really doesn't matter what you think, but it might be better if you gave some sort of indication that you do think.

What if anti gravity tech is real or is invented in 1000 years. It will surely become wrong then. What if you drop that stone in the free fall of space? What if your understanding of up and down is wrong and the grid reference you are taught from birth and directional understanding of the future overrule the grid ref of today? Even today it is understood that we do not know fully what gravity is. In the quantum world your down is every direction along with right left and up all being equal.

I will still be in the real world - not something pulled at random from Lalalala Land.

Anyone? Anywhere? Is this a little odd?

So I assume you find something strange about it and want answers - well, the answer is no.

Oxytocin-enforced norm compliance reduces xenophobic outgroup rejection.

This does not say that taking of oxytocin is enforced. It says (quite plainly) that oxytocin enforces a particular type of behaviour.

Who is throwing around -1's. I've already removed one from John Cuthber and one from DimReepr. I don't believe either response merited it. Verbal disagreement should be sufficient in this thread.

Possibly a lurker. I think just about everyone who contributes to this thread is far more likely to openly disparage a poor post.

  7. Well weather is totally chaotic - so your idiotic entity could have nothing to do with that.

Sex, probably evolved as a way to get more rapid genetic variation - and any sexual species without attraction between the sexes is not going to last very long.

(Incidentally, the main bulk of the world population does not have sex - only complex organisms - and not all of those.)

but seriously the Universe needs this other side , other than strict science .

It needs life , variation , flexibility , unpredictability , etc etc

Plenty of all of those in science. Ever heard of Chaotic Systems?

We were taught " you cannot put a 1 centimetre shaft in a 1 centimetre hole . It just will not go , contrary to what you might think .

We did it all the time just heat the casing- or cool the shaft - gives a nice interference fit - can be bit of a bugger to get apart again though.

  10. You are just saying: I don't understand it - therefore **MAGIC**".

(Incidentally, where does something like the giant squid fit into your "hierarchy"? It's obviously far above your goldfish (and, arguably above humans too - how much of the world is ocean?).)

As people are able to hold such beliefs and still be perfectly rational, there doesn't seem to be problem with this. Other than the fact it annoys you.

If they have such beliefs then they cannot be perfectly rational.

On the other hand, I have never met anyone who is.

I don't think I am - I would probably turn into a pink unicorn and vanish if I was.

  12. Perhaps it was your mis-spelling of "Schrödinger"? There do seem to be a number of grammar and spelling pedants around these days.

    (Why on earth do you think somebody is trying to "SILENCE" you just because they give you a -1? Some people carry on happily with their reputation well into the negative.}
