  1. So basically, if a human was to remain in the car, he/she would be at the same potential as the car. so thus cannot be electrocuted no matter where he touches the car.

    So why does this article:

    http://www.boston.com/news/local/articles/2008/09/07/safe_haven_in_a_storm/

conclude that the lightning car is safe cause of the skin effect? (an example of many articles)

To me, the skin effect is just an observation.

  2. hello,

i was talkin with a phd student, an he said the 2nd law of thermodynamics, was more of a statistical law, an is based of what has happened. So the 2nd law is empirical in nature. Is that correct in saying? or is entropy, a fact, not just somethign made up to fulfill a consistent observation?

also, if anyone knows, why is it uncommon to turbocharge v8's.

  3. ive also thought about that...

i have a crazy friend who i could pay to bash someone.. not kill.. but its a similar concept...

BUT the problem with my friend is.. that he isnt loyal. an no doubt if he got caught by the police in regards to the severe beating he administered he would explain to the law enforcers that i paid him to do it, an then i would prob get in trouble.

wont that just happen with these gangs? why would they take the whole fall for a murder? how do you get insurance that they wont dob you in.

or can you just deny it all

  4. http://www.mos.org/sln/toe/skineffect.html

i cant really understand what they are saying...

can somone just put it in really layman terms...

so is this the answer: "So the charge from the lightning spreads itself all around the outside of the car meaning there's a very low charge inside..."

an tahts due to the skin effect. having nothing to do with a faraday cage cause this isnt static electricity.

  5. I think that makes you "interesting" to the investigators.

but do you honestly think that they will eventually get arrested? the scenario is tho, that no one saw the actually pushin. except the two friends.

an the two friends said they were asleep or something similar.

  6. . This evidence could be from a puncture wound to the way someone killed the person.

if i go to wherever you are now an "puncture" you.. how can they possibly link that to me? how does the method of killing someone allow you to narrow down to a group of people with no previous convictions

  7. wow.. thanks for all your time to write that. it was awesomely knowledgable.

haha thanks Genecks for referrig to ninjas.. i can understand much easier now haha.

also, just say "someone" kills someone an no one saw the incident, apart from the follwoing left behind FROM the killer : hair, clothe fargments, the murder weapon, blood. what else could be left behind to find the killer.

and.. is this correct to saY: "america utilises more advanced crime solving techniques than australia"

if that statement is true... does that mean its easier to get away with a murder here compared to U.S and A.

  8. CSI is a SF series. Period. If you want reasons I'll make a list. It doesn't work that way.

could you please list them.. but how simplified does CSI make the procedures... its seems pretty tech what they GO ON about.

It all depends on your area, who you kill, and how smart you are.

I've heard from local LE that roughly 1/3rd of murders are solved in my county. The forensic techniques you see on Court TV and CSI are rarely applied in a lot of murder cases unless the victim is someone high up (sad, but that's how things work).

I'd imagine it'd be pretty easy to get away with a random stabbing if there are no witnesses, no cameras, and the place is frequently traveled and if you don't leave any solid evidence behind (such as a knife with your fingerprints on it).

thats what i was thinking.. like ive watched like stupid CSI once or twice.. an like i wasnt sure that much effort would go to every murder case. e.g the one i HYPOTHESISED!!!!!!!

and.. no one has really told me how to hide a body.. is burning the body a good solution?

  9. so its forensic evidence that would catch this hypotheical person i have described (whom is not in association with me at all). because im talking about australia... an we dont have cameras in many places... an im more talking about a situation with no witness'... because numerous times i have been in 'town' clubbing and been in a situation where i could say with 95% certainty there are no persons anywhere... but yeah.. so

what is a really good way to hide/get rid of a dead body? [if this is illegal to say then im sorry no one answer it... but im just wondering :)]

  10. so .. in nearly ALL cases... there is somesort of evidence that leads you to a suspect.

just say i do leave hair at the scene. how do they trace that back to me..

    and shit like that..

    also..

you see those stories on the news.. where they find a body in a remote bushland... how do they find those bodies?

  11. hello....

im not sure where this is supposed to go..

but im jus wondering... im like a teenager right... an i was just thinking...

like if i go to another state at 4am in the morning in the middle of some city's CBD... and go down a dark alley.. an there happens to be a single person walking the opposite way to me. just say for some reason i stab that person in teh throat > jump in my car > travel 400km's back to my home. no one knows what i did an i will never tell anyone.

in this situation.. can i be caught for murder? like ive heard of cases where they kill somone an hide the body an somehow the guy still gets caught.. i dont see how thats so possible

  12. an the rotary engine i was talking about, is the whatever engine is in the MAZDA RX-7, which to my understading is the wankel engine.

but we dont call it that around here :)

does anyone know, why the the RX7's (the latest model ones) are faster or more usually used in high performance tuning OVER then TWIN ROTARY RX8.

from what i have heard, the twin rotaries dont compute to be twice as good as two rotaries. could someone claer that up for me.

and with teh EMOTORS, is their only prominent issue the power source, if that was solved.. they would be implemented internationally?

  13. Hello,

can someone please explain to me why F1 engines are so good.

even tho they are very low literage (which is capacity right?)

i konw thye can rev up to 20krpm.

so is that all an engine needds... to be able to rev ridiculously high? to be an awesome engine.

  14. ok...

my thread.. isnt really supposed to be about lights... its more about the EM energy part....

so does EM energy flow from a power source out to all the components of the circuit? ie does the em wave first begin propagating from the power source?

  15. the photon leaving the atom after the electron drops? whats a photon? em energy. or the fact that it just gets really hot and emits light which again is EM energy. it mentions it alright

yeah your right it mentions it.. im sorry..

What is the stuff that flows into a light bulb and gets changed entirely into light and heat? how stuff works.. doesnt mention anything but the electron input to create the light. an i understand that.. (or maybe i dont.. an thats why im asking stupid questions :) )

there are two concepts with electricity.. the electron flow and the other part. can someone explain to me the other part. (ie. the two questions from teh original post)
