  1. No, I’m talking about astrology. And I just had a good laugh. I was only teasing.
  2. I hear you, but it seems like your idea of “a step taken that does not become a journey” is similar to one objectively stating whether someone is attractive. The difference is in seeing yourself with that person, or being so obsessed as in OP (I think it was OP???) where the friend was witnessing one’s girlfriend go on and on about some athlete or celebrity to the point where she has photos of the athlete on her phone. If she had the chance she probably would get with the athlete. I’m just saying.
  3. Why not? It’s just as informative, technical, and accurate as, you know, the theory of gravity. I say, let’s add it in the Physics section!
  4. Going on a tangent, but I sometimes see gun reform as an undercover plot to remove guns from the public so the government has more say as to what happens to the people. I was never really one to call myself a conspiracy theorist, and as devastating as these mass murders via shootings are, I have to take a step back and question what’s really going on. One only needs to look at Trump and what he’s done during his totalitarianistic reign—I can’t even call it a time of “presidency”—to understand what I mean. To answer your question, I’m thinking, nothing will change. I’m hopeful that it will, but with the NRA having the power that it does, with Trump being as unstable as he is, and now with the idea of arming teachers with guns in schools to help appease angry family members and friends still mourning the loss of their loved ones...I don’t see change coming as much as I or anyone else have wished it would.
  5. I strongly believe that unfaithfulness begins at the emotional level. It starts with a thought. How strongly do you love your significant other, if they’re not the only one you have eyes for?
  6. You should be fine. For PhD/MD, you’d think it would look even better to do research in biomed rather than merely microbio. And you’d be right to assumte that. Outsider’s pov: it looks like you’re committed to medicine and the research aspect of it, which is excellent and needed for MD/PhD.
  7. Regulation of heat-shock response Hope this helps... You could probably use some information here to help with your work.
  8. It’s not selfish to eat alone at a restaurant, and if it’s not selfish and causes no one harm it’s also neither unethical nor immoral... It’s fine to eat alone.
  9. Perhaps it always exists in the sense that, if we have to trace back to it, we can (e.g.: fossils of past remains). The evidence is there. Because the evidence is there, it does exist and in some ways can be reached to validate its existence again. Seems as if life is ultimately a state of being. We get to the “now,” because we exist in the now. When we, with our experiences and consciousness and so on, do not exist then someone else after us (and before us) does exist with their own experience and consciousness and state of being which makes the past the past, the present the present, and the future the future infinitely. This isn’t directed just to living animals—I’m referring to energy as well. We collectively and continuously cross an infinite space-time by existing in our own point in time: a generation of beings after another generation of beings (i.e., your grandparents took up space-time between 1920s and 2000s, your parents may have taken up space-time between 1970s to current date, and you may have taken up space-time between 1990s to current date and into the future, and so on—and the same is true in the opposite direction, your great grandparents and great-great grandparents and great-great-great grandparents and so on)! And, again, this idea is not restricted to just people or living beings, but to nonliving matter as well. As for crossing an infinite amount of time or space, we are lifeforms that are limited in time and space. Maybe some being composed of a different kind of existence can experience infinity in a way that we cannot, and therefore that kind of indefinitely-existing being/lifeform can potentially travel along this infinite space-time—which is something we cannot do. However, you can understand the notion of infinity. If you can understand the notion of infinity, you have already crossed space-time. *Mic drop* Can you send a link to the philosopher’s writing?
  10. Yeah I mean I kind of did that... I noticed the bars in the photo, and so I tried to take a photo of the bat from far away and the picture was fine. But when I moved closer, I’d have to say I was within a foot or even closer of the bat, the photo started coming out strange. I guess I could have tried a different kind of lamp, but honestly I just wanted a photo of the bat, that’s all. Everything else was just unnecessarily confusing that night. To this day I still don’t understand how he even came into my house. Anyway, thanks again Well, is there some specific thread or user you have in mind? I could just private message them or tag them... What are the odds of a biologist who studies bats and their effects on light here. Haha
  11. But look at the second photo... There are no bars. Only when I went near the bat were there bars... so it does have to do with the bat, not the lamplight...
  12. How does ultrasound travel through an iPhone’s lens to disturb the filament? So confused. I get the whole particles moving past one another whatever is going on. I don’t understand how ultrasound could affect a photograph so much so as to create those bars. Disturbed the filament? Then shouldn’t there be a crackly image instead of straight bars???
  13. Lol I loved the background music though it made me feel twice as dumb. Watched it the whole way through!
  14. The Vegetarian by Han Kang. It’s a must-read.
  15. If I can see it, then I can do it. If I just believe it, there's nothing to it... I believe I can fly, I believe I can touch the sky!!!
  16. Any way is up, as long as it’s not down.
  17. Which sources? Sound affects light? Aren’t the two supposed to be independent of one another? How can one disrupt the other?
  18. He was screeching, I did hear him... Maybe he was a different kind of bat, I don’t know, but I heard him loud and clear when he was screeching at some times. Oh...but how does ultrasound distupt light waves? It works like that?? Sound waves disrupt light waves? Am I on the right track here?
  19. Why does this sound so scary I’m thinking that it’s the bit itself. It has to be emitting some kind of energy because the photos had dark bars in them only when the lens was close enough to it... Am I in the right forum??
  20. Well! When he screeched, I heard him! But he stopped so...
