Take a look at scienceforums.net at Alexa Rank over the past 90 days alone. Sad! This place actually used to be alive & nice.

  3. I'm glad more academics are thinking of Simulation hypothesis in terms of a virtual reality or even video game rather than the ridiculous idea that the simulation must simulate every freaking particle/wave in the entire Universe.

IOW, it only simulates what it needs to simulate, what is being observed. When you look at a wall in a video game the computer doesn't need simulate atoms in the wall.

Given present figures the Universe escape velocity is equal to or near c given the known equation. Mainstream is starting to accept the idea of a multiverse consisting of many Universes, which would mean our Universe is not everything. Mainstream does not understand the mechanics that causes c to be it's present value of 299792458 m/s. For all they know it could be changing as the Universe expands.

You can get a general ballpark figure since there's a wide range of estimates for mass of Universe but using the relativistic escape velocity equation v = sqrt(2*G*M/r - (G*M/(r*c))^2), mass of 6e+53 kg, radius of 4.4e+26 meters you get an escape velocity of c, the speed of light.

Perhaps. Or there might be an entire Universe inside a black hole. Mathematically speaking our known Universe could be seen as a black hole. Calculate the escape velocity of our known Universe. :)

I'd like to see academics researching the rice experiment and similar experiments in-depth. I believe that's what my status post was pointing out.

I don't like discussing topics in status section either. Yes, I think at least someone who likes forum discussions should start a thread on the topic.

No. You just put rice in two sealed jars and never touch it after that.

IMO real scientists learn that forums aren't a good place to spend much time on discussions.

It's scary how closed minded people are to the point of calling people out right liars & ignoring their experiments.

For the truth seekers out there, search youtube. There're plenty of family oriented channels who've replicated this experiment. Try the experiment yourself. Do it a dozen times.

One of the easiest experiments you'll probably ever do. Albeit it takes a long time. Two *identical* jars of cooked rice.

ps, nice to see you full timers are still here putting out fires lol. Wouldn't want humanity to wake up. ;)

  13. Going into the hospital tomorrow morning, August 16th, at around 05:30, nine hour surgery and a week in the hospital, my jaw will be wired shut so this will be an unique opportunity to talk to me and get a word in edgewise! Come see me if you are around New Hanover Hospital!

The day us humans fear, which we really shouldn't, called SINGULARITY, is almost here!! I'd highly highly recommend people get a good news app such as Flipboard & subscribe to the tech, science, future science, AI news boards. The amount of recent news is insane. In 15 years you'll see cars driving & flying themselves, AI Synths in homes comparable to the tv series Humans, people living in earth's orbit ...

Other news that indicates a major shift on Earth is autonomous vehicles. Car industry says within 3 years all major car manufacturers will offer at least 1 autonomous vehicle. The past week there was a big announcement on a quantum CPU. Look at the fight for dominance in AI between Google, Microsoft, Apple & hundreds of other major companies.

  16. Just got back from lake Thunderbird where my niece, her boyfriend Owen, and I got to see a spectacular show put on by the universe! The Perseids meteor shower was not disappointing tonight! Tomorrow, I'm going to take my boys out to my dad's place where the light pollution is much lower than at the lake. Tomorrow's viewing should prove to be even better than what we seen tonight.

Obviously you don't read much tech news. There're 5 major companies with multi billion $ funding working on moon tourism. And not to mention the companies working on orbital tourism. Last week headline news announced the U.S. gov. granted permission for the company Moon Express to land on the moon. They have a launch contract to land on the moon next year. Technology is EXPLODING on earth, from breakthroughs in AI to automated orbital flights.

  21. There remains one especially unsatisfactory feature of the standard model of particle physics, the observed mass of the particles, m. There is no theory that adequately explains these numbers. We use the numbers in all our theories, but we do not understand them - what they are, or where they come from. I believe that from a fundamental point of view, this is a very interesting and serious problem" Richard Feynman

The obvious answer still eludes mainstream. Charge. mass=q^2/(4*pi*e0*c^2*r) Calculating mass of non-elementary particles is more complex. You need to know the particles structure and calculate mutual effects from charge
