  1. when you say n=4, does this mean you pulled 4 random cards from a normal 52 card deck?

    Mr Einstein

    http://www.westegg.com/einstein try this!
  3. what does a job like that entail?
  4. your right callipygous. took me half an hour of going around in circles with simultaneous equations to figure that one out!!
  5. Is everyone here forgetting the king of all elements. it is the chosen element, the one, if you like! Neo-n!
  6. do you need to become a member to do the challenges?
  7. aaaaahhhhh!! that was 2 months ago and i still haven't got her anything!! any ideas for a 2 month overdue mother's day present??!!!
  8. ok, had to figure that one out the hard way!! took me half an hour of calculations to figure out that you were right. here's an idea, this is just an idea though so it might be way off the mark. The triangle that is enclosed by the two angles of 50 degrees and the corner of the main triangle is an isoleces (?!) triangle. could some trigo be used here to get your 4 unknown angles? just a thought.
  9. Callipygous, using your diagram above i have come up with four eqaution as follows: 40 + X + Y = 180 50 + W + Z = 180 70 + Y + Z = 180 20 + X + W = 180 using these four equations it should then be possible to work out the values for W, X, Y and Z. I'll let you do the calculations!!
  10. as far as i can see, both are correct. it's just a matter of which one you want to call C1, it can be the first or the last one, either way you will still end up with two compounds that have the same structure.
  11. i agree with the spoiler above but damn that was a tricky one!!
  12. lets start this one again!! i'm 21/male/ireland
  13. click on a few of the links from this thread. I think this is what ye are talking about http://www.scienceforums.net/forums/showthread.php?t=10129
  14. i'd be interested in knowing how you derived that.
  15. apologies for my rant too!! here's an idea. what about something like a stats project? example: measure the accuracy level of a certain number of students while throwing darts. get them to aim at the bullseye and measure how close they get. Then get them to shoot again, but this time make them say a certain, motivational phrase. measure again and see if the motivation increases their accuracy levels. the maths for this project could be easy or you could into great detail also. it's an idea anyway!
  16. i had a problem with my optical mouse in xp too. however i plugged it out off my ps/2 and plugged it into mu USB port and it worked fine then
  17. what the hell are you talking about? This is a very vague post and does not detail exactly what you are looking for. What type of maths in biology.
  18. Thanks for the research flareon. My circadian rythm is all messed up lately because of my final year report. i've been awake for about 32 hours now and i feel grand!!
  19. if you can find the file, try and download a small program off the internet called killbox. This program can delete files for you but be careful not to delete the wrong ones!!
  20. can't say i've heard of the trojan but i can give you a few good programs to download to try and detect it. I find that spybot is pretty good. Microsoft antispyware is also good. also, if you go to http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan/com/activescan_principal.htm this will scan yur computer for free. I found this was pretty good. It won't delete the virus, but at least you would know where it is. That's the best i can do i'm afraid.
  21. it's not exactly a brain teaser though! maybe we have to figure out why she was so dumb to put it here in the first place!!!
  22. I don't think these has been done before. Why do people generally have problems with sleeping during the day. I know that it is dark at night and we are used to sleeping at night but if a person is really really tired why do they find it hard to go to sleep in the middle of the day? I know a lot people will say that they don't have a problem with sleeping during the day but many do have this problem (well, i do anyway!). Personally i find this is what happens. I stay up all night to do this crappy report and i hand it in at ten in the morning. So i'm recked tired and i decide to try and get some sleep. I close the blinds so it is as dark as it would be at night time. however i can't get my brain to stop thinking and i can't relax. eventually i get too warm and i just have to get up again. Is it just a mental thing?
