  1. Free organizations do not make a profit and that is not really the point of them. Free school is so everyone can learn. Welfare and those sort of programs are to help those who are struggling financially, mental and developmental problems, or have physical disabilities. So the reason for these programs are not to make a profit. Its equal opportunity. Public library's are beneficial for people who want to read and check out books but not always have to buy them at the book store. Books are very expensive and its easier to check one out from the library. Many public schools are failing and a lot of them have students that are unable to read by graduation. If a 17 year old not being able to read is the norm I do not see why they should be giving them additional funding. Now if law says all children must go to school it makes no sense to send children who cant afford private school to a school where they wont learn the essential skills they need to make it to a university anyways. So why waste the time? Along with this Private schools are sometimes even years ahead of these public schools. Military will get as much money as they earn. If everything they do is shown to be productive and successful they will get an adequate amount of funds. The funds will be regulated by results and necessity. If something does not work it should not continue. If there is flaws in the system it needs to be examined and fixed. If something is failing they need to find a different way of doing things.
  2. Norton and complete crap! If you are using windows(Which I always used) check out "Microsoft security essentials". If you have windows 8 they have "Windows defender" installed on the computer when you buy it. However you have to turn it on.
  3. Apparently you cant mix red bull and milk. However you can mix ice cream with root-beer/coke/any soda and I have heard of people mixing soda(pepsi) with milk and drinking it. Apparently they also make chocolate milk Vodka. So why exactly cant you mix red bull and milk but you can do all these other combinations. I understand the process and that it make the milk clump and separates the protein but why does this not seem to apply in any other instance?
  4. What does leaving a library staying open, how much money military gets, and How much school might get have anything to do with morality?
  5. You know this is already a rule. They are trained what to do in such situations and are explained what is considered excessive force.
  6. Fingerprints themselves are considered scientific evidence for solving a murder based on the fact each person has a unique prints. So doesn't that mean they were already proven valid at a previous point and time?
  7. Government is suppose to regulate, and distribute funds. However there has been cases of embezzlement and over all a lot of corruption in governments for all areas of the world at one point and time and its still happening today. People are far too corruptible to give this much power. Very few have the correct mindset to be put in such positions. I think the regulation of funds should be calculated by a giant machine. The decisions will be based on data. It will than decide what is the most productive distribution of the funds will be. It will have programmed into it casualties, funds taken in, costs, and overall benefit or society. Now for laws like "legalizing gay marriage" I think that should still be voted on but I don't think the funds themselves should be determined by people. When I say funds the machine will regulate I mean things like public schools, well-fare, military and taxes, library's. You cant corrupt a machine. A machine has no feelings and will make objective decisions based on the information available. It can not be disloyal either so it will only focus on helping the country its in.
  8. A lot of people do try to win an argument by saying "Hes a troll I win" when really they just think so since they are being challenged. This is an example of a sore loser. Some people don't like when you disagree with them and will try anything to discredit you. This however is not really trolling.
  9. So you are asking for someone to make a summery of your book? If you have written all these books why cant you write the summary?
  10. Well first off using a lot of experiments helps children get interested. In my earth science class we did a lot of hands on experiments and I really enjoyed that and it made me feel very involved in the work. I would say if you want the kids to learn and get involved make them apply the knowledge. Book learning is boring and useless. Simply giving them a book and saying "Read this book and fill out this paper" is not going to make the material stick and its going to bore the children. Make them watch videos, make them apply the material they learned and explain to them why it works that way. Give tests and do experiments but don't give a ton of homework. I would also say drill them on the elemental table since that is important to learn in chemistry. Also I think maybe ask all the students to build an experiment and explain the why they believe it will work, what made them believe it would , and the conclusion, than ask them all to discuss it. Also try talking about current experiments, news, and ethics and ask children to debate on it, hands on learning and these type of things when added to curriculum always seemed to be enjoyed by students. I only did debate in Health(8th grade) and US HISTORY(12th grade) but all the students seemed to love when we did debates. Also maybe critiquing literature. Such as make them read poems and English and make them explain what the author meant and make them write a story that should convey a similar message. Like maybe what was Edgar allen poe thinking when he wrote "The raven" that could count as psychology as well as teaching writing skills. I also remember having to grow plants in earth science which I think would be another interesting experiment for biology. Than you can also have them write a persuasive essay trying to convince you of a stance which you will assign. This will teach them how to pursuide and audience give them better presentation skills which you need for everything in life especially if you are trying to explain your theory and ideas to people. Maybe even spend a day going over what each chemical is and make them go home and list everything you can find this element in and what its used for. Also this is a bit early but maybe teach them the difference between a bad and a good argument. Like not pulling out the strawman. Oh and mock trial is another one you can try. DO NOT DO mandatory group projects ever. The idea might sound good on paper but often One kid will end up doing everyone's work or there is one kid is always left alone since they don't have friends in the class and some kids just work better alone. Even if you assign the children to partners often not all the teams are compatible. Also in US history they use to make us watch the news and talk about it in class. I always enjoyed that and it keeps the children well informed.
  11. Non educational books I am reading a romance novel. I have also been reading a jap/english dictionary trying to teach myself Japanese.
  12. There is several types of sciences but what if someone wanted to study all of them? Most schools will make you pick a major and a minor and suggest your minor fit your major or compliments it. What if you just wanted to study different sciences? Like Chemistry, psychology, biology, computer science. Science and math can be applied to everything in the world. Why are there no overall science degrees?
  13. Trolls are bullies that are too weak and cowardly to pick on a person in real life. So they go out and harass people on the internet where they know there is no way the victim can punch them in the face for being a jerk.
  14. I dont think a flying city wouldnt make much sense. Now a levitating city might. If the city is constantly flying you have to steer it and figure out where to land. I think it would make a lot more sense to just have it levitate if you just want it up in the air. You can make things levitate using magnets but to do it with something of such a large scale would prove to be difficult. Though maybe you could get the base to be a large metal plate and trying to leverage the weight evenly around the city. They did this in sky high but actually doing this is hard to imagine. Than all around the base of it you can put magnets on both the top and the bottom.
  15. I think that anyone can choose to commit straight or homosexual acts. I don't think everyone is simply born gay or straight though. I think sexuality forms from a number of things. Including experience during puberty years and sometimes trauma from early childhood. I do not think sexuality is as simple as people like to assume it is. I think it is created by a number of psychological, physical and social expireinces through out your life. I also think that depending on nature of a person they are more likely to develop certain sexual liking's. This goes for all sexuality not just who you have sex with but I think this does too apply to things like fetishes. I do not think there is any way from the day of birth of deciding "Ok this baby is going to be gay and this one is going to be straight". I think sexuality is developed over a process of years and is finally expressed during puberty around age 11-13. I also think sexuality and sexual liking are linked to your personality and its development as well. Though regardless of sexuality you can choose to do something you are not comfortable with sexually. It does not mean you are into it. How and what you act on is your choice. Your sexuality however I think is just something that develops over so many years and not something you can judge a baby by.
  16. Its a computer that goes twice as fast as a normal computer. A computer operates using sequences of 0 and 1. With a quantum computer you have 2 going at the same time so you can perform the task much quicker at the same speed. Its like saying one person can make 10 reports in an hour but you want it to go faster. So you get 2 people and finish it in half the time. A quantum computer also uses quantum bits.
  17. The reason I ask since these both seemed like fair comparisons to me. I also seen both of these used a lot. The dog comparison I see most often when people who care for animals in some way are attempting to explain how to care for a pet using a child as an example. Than there always has to be someone who comes out of no where to yell at this person when that clearly wasn't meant to attack children but to present an explanation as how to deal with animals that made sense to someone who might not know anything about animals at all. I wanted to know if making these statements themselves truly attacking children/people or if these people are just oversensitive for believing so? The Chimp/human comparison idea is often presented when we think of the idea that people possibly evolved from apes. Than people ask "Well do I throw poop too? I guess I must be a monkey right"? and get belligerent about it. The point of this seems to find a decent comparison when explaining something to people. I myself had used a cat to try to explain to someone how to use a computer. This was the only way they were able to actually understand it and I could see where people might use a comparison to make it easy for someone who just might not be understanding it the way its normally taught.
  18. So are you saying this comparison is flawed or the person being offended has a flawed argument?
  19. I had people argue to me that free will is not being able to have everything you wish magically appear in front of you. I don't think that is what free will really is though. We are given rules by society "don't steal, don't murder, don't rape and no molestation". Yet despite this people still choose to steal, to murder, to rape. I think that is free will. The ability to go against the rules. We have a choice not to obey the rules of society. We also have the will to kill ourselves though nature would tell us to live and reproduce. Though if we go under the theory that there several different worlds with a copy of a person that differs by one decision like (My parents never had me, I never married my wife, I was a vegetarian,) than I guess not since you are already predestined to make that decision based on what the other yous chose not to do.
  20. Yes killing animals or plants for food is done out of necessity. If we do not eat we die.
  21. I am neither entirely against human testing but I believe that it should be done on the guilty not the innocent. Also does being under someone/something give you mean they deserve to be abused? If there is a dog and its not bothering anyone does it seem right to randomly go beat it to death with a shovel? I do not agree with animal testing since I believe if you harm something that harm should be earned and that if you must harm an innocent it should be necessary not for fun. we also kill animals for food but that is not killing for the pleasure of killing. Its killing for food and its something that is necessary. Same with if a person is trying to kill you its ok to kill them in defense. I am saying that needless harm is dangerous and if we must harm it needs to be necessary harm. Not for the fun of it. they have also made a burger in a lab by growing muscle and cooking it but it was never a full living cow. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/08/06/science/a-lab-grown-burger-gets-a-taste-test.html?_r=0
  22. Intelligence is like book smarts. Wisdom is understanding gained by a rational thought process and experience.
  23. This sounds like a typical argument for those who are anti evolution. I myself believe in evolution and have encountered similar arguments. Though unlike your friend the person I was discussing it with called me an ignorant moron that needed to see the light of god. Which really ticked me off. Also I can see where someone might link atheism with science(Not saying this is correct). There is atheists that seem to pass it off as such and act like being atheist makes you more intelligent and knowledgeable about science and the world. Even online a lot of the videos explaining debates are very subjective and only show the atheists point of view and how the atheist is always right. while I myself was never told this kind of stuff and came from a religious house I have heard of other Christians saying or talking about hearing strange stuff like this before. However you need to realize religion has many denominations and churches. So what one church says might be slightly different since they all seem to interpret the teachings differently. In fact some even to add stuff that was not actually in the bible to begin with.
  24. Communism pays people who do no work and take that payment from people who do a lot of work. So some people feel like communism is ripping off half the people since not everyone has to work. Generally why people tend to disagree with the idea of communism since they do not want to get ripped off. They also think it has the draw back of creating laziness. If a doctor lives as well and makes as much as a fast food worker why try so hard to be the doctor? He is not going to get anymore pay. They are going to be in the same spot for the rest of there life no matter what they do. Some people do not like being stuck in the same spot and not having a chance to move forward. Also a lot of time communist systems will just give the most money to the leaders while everyone else is much poorer. Which is also something people believe is unfair. Some People want to be judged for their own individual skills and talents not always tossed together as just like everyone else.
