  1. I would like to live so long as my mind remanes in a state of complete lucidity and awareness.
  2. But I can count in seconds after a run at the same speed as before I run, {I think, Ill try for my workout tomorrow, but im pretty sure}, so I dont think that it is associated with the heart. We see a clock at work for 3 seconds, and then we can picture that clock in our minds and mimic the seconds go by, does that mean that it is in the brain?
  3. I was sitting waiting for my fish sticks to beep this morning, and I was counting down the time to the beep in my head, wich made me think, how do we tell time in our head? how do we remember the approximate {or any} amount of time to use inbetween numbers when "stopwatching" something? Is it just a memory associated with numbers that we use when timing things? If we wanted a robot to tell time, we would need something like a clock in it to do so wouldnt we? do we have a clock like this? thanks.
  4. Proton; Yes, I supporse I was reffering rest mass. It seemed to me that cperkinson was under the impression that a foreign particle was associated radio waves in order for their to be information. I was under the impression that electromagnetic waves are usually refered to as massless. Was I wrong? Is this directed towards me?
  5. Ok, cperkinson. Im guessing that your around 12-17, still in high school and arent going to let anyone bring you down. I like that, I myself am 15, and am obesssed with science and engineering to the fullest. Wont let anyone tell me I cant, like you. But, arguing with these people isnt the smartest thing to do, I did it in my first post and, of course, I lost, because I was wrong. Most {not all} of the people that post to questions know what they are talking about, and if they dont, someone who does know will call them on it, so your going to get true info if you listen to what these people say. Dont just say that they are wrong and you are right, ask why they say your wrong. Dont just dissagree, tell them why you disagree. Word things better, instead of saying "no thats not right, say "but I thought...". It will help you out alot here, Ive learned so much stuff here, its amazing, and the stuff I didnt learn here, I learn from wikepedia links that people post here {or at school, but really, I learn more here than at school}. Information "encoded" with things like radio waves etc... are just modulations in the frequencys and amplitudes { am and fm}, there is no mass associated with radio waves at all, So they all go the same speed {C, 186 miles per second}[roughly] heres a link to a pic about that shows how it works http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Amfm3-en-de.gif
  6. Why arent there any other math tutorials? Id like to learn more, the calculus one was good.
  7. Merged post follows: Consecutive posts merged I agree. Also, they both did quite a bit of mathmatics to prove their theories. so they werent only thought experiments.
  8. So a photon is a little man who represents the Durgatiparisodhanamandala. Ya... Where do you get this stuff? Have you done any experiments, mathmatics, thinking?
  9. I think that It would come out jumbled since you are going against the direction of the waves near their speed. I dont think that It would come out faster because your right, the c is c, but I think that once they move the electrons in the antenna to the device etc... it would come out in jumbled and sound like nonsense, though I may be wrong. I am not really sure. I think that relativity would just make the ride for you faster vs earths time, and the brodcasts you would zoom by, hence the jumbled radio. getting to earth you would be younger than say... if you had a twin {twins paradox}. Merged post follows: Consecutive posts merged Radio waves are the same thing as light mate. their electromagnetic waves, just at different frequencys, so we register them differently or not at all. Their really the same thing in different versions.
  10. You are new. Welcome to SFN. Theres alot of critism{wich is good}, especially when you present ideas that are like this. Dont take it the wrong way, we no one is exhiling you, or saying that it is wrong, just pointing the wrong parts out. look at your idea, and look at the stuff people say is wrong about it, and adjust it so it fits.
  11. Some type of titanium allow I think. But I just heard that on a show.
  12. Im curios, what program did you use to design this?
  13. I have the same predicament as you, I just read alot of wikepedia, went to the library often, and read alot here. You pick quite a bit up, and find out what you need to learn and just learn it. But thats just me, you may be different.
  14. Of course it is, and to tell you the truth, Im not sure whether or not well be around in a million years or not, but I am not focusing over the amount of time it is, I am focusing on how to do what the OP asked. Since his question didnt express any doubt that we will be alive in a million years, I did not express any either. Though your right, It is quite a long time. Expressing a message for that long would be quite hard.
  15. then you can not pass the message down to future relatives, but the thread was specifically for future relatives being there, not an if. Obviously it would be impossible otherwise. Pictography Last name if your a male, if your a female, I guess you would have to rely on something along the lines of telling your kid to tell his kid to tell his kid etc... Thats not the question. Multiple copies. You could do what I said, and tell your kid to whisper to his kid the message to whisper his kid the message , etc...and make it really important so they dont forget. for an average of 10,000.? times.
  16. How does one get a program onto the web? thanks for the help guys!
  17. I was actually starting to try and make a program, thats not web based, just a little game-like program on my computer. Is that possible? What would I use? I really dont know much about computers, But Im working on it. thanks for all the {really quick} help.
  18. thanks, I have some in my tab list write now, thanks. What would be the best thing to write this stuff in? WordPad, NotePad, etc...? thank you.
  19. And Its not coffe or ice, you need a heating and a cooling for a stirling engince. It just runs off of heat, not the coffee itself, and then the ice cools the hot air, etc...
  20. //first little program// print"guess a number between 3 and 4" if 3 print"sorry, guess again" if 4 print"you got it" nothing complicated, just to make one, once I actually can do it ill try cooler, harder ones.
  21. Hello, so I am trying to make a program just for kicks, but I am just lost, I have read several little articles and step by step instructions, but It just never seems to work. Ive learned a bit of programming language {not sure what, just stuff I have picked up reading}, and I keep typing this stuff in WordPad, and then I save It as an .html, but how do I load It? When I just go to my computer and open It up, the words are all mixed with other little words signifying things like //par/ and stuff like that showing that I had a paragraph there, and It Is still in WordPad. Am I doing something wrong? Can anyone be kind enough to give me the basics of programming? Thank you.
  22. I conqer. But, as someone else said, Would the downloading of the selfs conciousness actually be you, or a copy? so that copy lives forever, but the original you doesnt. Also, how do you think that virtual self would be stored? binarily? everything from the tip of my nose to my curious attitude would be stored as binary digits in logic gates right? Is that really a person, or just software. Just commands for the computer, isnt it? I think in order to have an actual conciouss copy of yourself, It would have to be through something like an artificial neural network. Then you actaully have decisions that get generated through thinking and not just already programmed commands. I may be wrong though.
  23. So should I dip my future kids in vats of antigens and bacterial colonies in order to prevent them from getting sick later on?
