  1. No one has said you are not wanted. But I certainly find your attitude unattractive, and I expect others do as well. You asked a question and were answered with a simple technical example You were offered also some help with the workings of this website, that you have not bothered to acknowledge. So my advice is to ask your questions, contribuute where you can, and loose the attitude.

  2. No it is not subject specific and my answer is not subject specific either. Self study is wonderful and the higher the level you go the more you have to study that way rahter than a course structured by others. However in my view the real difference between school and self study is that school (should) offers marked work or work guidance. That is the opportunity to get soemthing wrong and then to discuss with your teacher how and why you got it wrong and then to correct it. Or even just the simple yeah you did those well 10/10. With self study most people cannot do this for themselves. Coming to a forum such as this one is a great way to extend the base you are gaining from schoolwork by discussion with others here. If you are lucky you can also have great discussions with your classmates. It is often said that you can learn almost as much from your classmates as your teachers, I certainly did and was lucky that way. So get the best you can out of school and extend it outside.

  3. As in "does the wave interact with them" (their edges) ?Does it cause decoherence (am just learning to use that word)? ps I don't think I have any hangups about human or sentient observers -they are all just interactors to me at my present stage of understanding.

  4. Why does there have to be a purpose? Which by I mean - a fundamental purpose. Purposes can be assigned and not necessarily intrinsic to existence. But if we insist on assigning a purpose to life then, My favourite idea is that, the ultimate purpose of life is to evolve so that the universe can experience and wonder on itself.

  5. Your comments in the past pretty well reveal that. In all that and as a friends also, and I'm not sure why you see that as something peculiar to Australia. I'm speaking of indigenous friends as well as many "Imported Australains" as friends, of which of course, I myself am one. Some may see the terminology "imported Australians" as offensive, but I see it as a harmless humouress remark. As I have told you before, Australian society is no where near perfect, but that doesn't change the fact that it is a reasonably fair and equitable society mostly. Just a couple of comments on a mostly wise post, (1) I certainly am not resisting reasonable change, and I believe in saying that, that I also at the same time, respect another's feelings on how I address them, and will cease when objected to ( and how they address me in turn) and (2) and I disagree on your "non sequitur" comment...things sometimes can be taken too far.eg: without getting into all examples again, one obvious is certain songs, both yesteryear and today. Some of the pretentious criticism I have seen border on pretentious nonsense. Personally, I would be campaigning against some of this rap crap, and the inuendoes and hideous remarks, some often directed at Police, rather then Police cruelty. My flatulence considering my age is well controlled. šŸ˜‰

  6. I believe the correct response wouldā€™ve been: define ā€œlove.ā€

  7. We all do as a culture. Together. Right now, the push is for improved standards. The momentum is for additional inclusion and acceptance. The resistance is indeed shrinking and dying. Weā€™re witnessing now their last thrashing gasps, but hopefully we can soon make this: ā€¦ an unnecessary delay and needless obstacle. Itā€™s time and we donā€™t need to wait. We can achieve the betterment now if we all stand up and fight for it even when weā€™re not personally affected. If we do, then this: ā€¦ becomes a pointless nonsequitur since weā€™re ALL attempting to make things better. The issue wonā€™t be that weā€™ve gone too far, but that we havenā€™t yet gone far enough. Progressā€¦ We can allā€¦ each and every one of us right now and todayā€¦ attempt to be MORE correctā€¦ politically or otherwise. We can do this with our own thoughts and we can lead by example while in parallel advocating for change when interacting with others. No death of aging flatulentarions required.

  8. Any new ideas are offensive to some people, all of the time.* Just ask the millions of Republicans, and MAGAs, in the US about J Biden's agenda, and whether they find it offensive. Do you think 'right-to-lifers' are not offended by the on-going 'murder' that 'pro-choicers' call abortion ? Do they have a right not to be offended ? Does that right only extend to people you agree with ? Or, do you think we should pass laws that forbid new ideas, as they might be offensive to some ? Social justice is a valid ideal to strive for, but you guys need to get off your hypocritical high horse. *( that is also J Peterson )

  9. Electricity requires a flow of electrons through a material. The electrons in covalently bound molecules are generally not free to flow throughout the structure, so no conduction of electricity occurs. (There can be exceptions, notably graphite, in which the Ļ€-orbitals of the fused rings of carbon merge to form a conduction band, allowing the electrons in those orbitals to flow.) As for magnetic properties, yes, electrons can create magnetic fields, due to their intrinsic angular momentum and sometimes also due to orbital angular momentum, if they are in orbitals that have this - many do not. But simple creation of a magnetic field does not imply that electricity is generated.

  10. It's not a classical oscillation, similar to how the orbitals of an atom are not defined orbits and thus do not radiate. The electron is shared but there is no defined trajectory, per quantum mechanics.

  11. You can label it Political Correctness, or whatever you wish. The fact is that our Western societies are now almost at a point where the individual right nt to be offended, trumps society's right to free speech. And where your own personal, subjective reality can be forced, under threat of law, on the rest of society. If it was someone in authority doing this to society, you would all label him a despot, or dictator, or fascist. When it is anyone with a gripe against the rest of society, or a pretentious, virtue signalling university student, who has no clue what being underpriviliged really is, you guys all stand and cheer, while disparaging those who stand up against the nonsense, claiming they are out of their area of expertise, or just in it for popularity and money. You guys need to give your collective heads a shake !

  12. OK, the future in English. The perfect tense refers to a completed action (verb) A completed action is over and done with and often cannot be repeated. For example I have eaten the apple happened in the past so is past perfect. But say in the present I hold an apple. Obviously I have yet to complete eating it, or even perhaps to start eating it. So in the present I eat the apple or since this takes time, I am eating the apple which is the imperfect tense. But say I do not, which in 2 hours into the eat the apple until my lunchbreak, which is 2 hours into the future. So I say that, "At lunch, I will eat my apple." Which is the unspecific or simple future. or I can say, "At lunch, I will be eating my apple." Which is the future imperfect. or I can say, "After lunch, I will have eaten my apple" Which is the future perfect. That is further into the future following the completion of eating of my apple. I cannot refer to something that will happen in the future whilst I will be eating my apple - I must use the future imperfect for that. So Once I have eaten my apple my lunch will be completed. Perfect While I am eating my apple my lunch will be interrupted. Imperfect

  13. Zapatos, poor sod, has never witnessed the passion of earthworms mating and the forbidden love between a toad and a cat, the love that dare not speak its name. From the humble paramecium and its many paramours, to the literate and steamy sonnets of the witty dolphin, the biome is drenched in love!

  14. If my attitude offends you that is a you problem. questions ive already asked. the world is surely diverse and my "attitude" is a part of that tapestry , either you can swallow that or not. not my problem. in the words of val kilmer in tombstone Why Ed does this mean we're not friends anymore? You know Ed, if I thought you weren't my friend... I just don't think I could bear it!ā€

  15. Heres your cookie Zapatos! good job! you validated yourself with only proving that some species do not love....maybe? Seems to me that data on Love between species with lower functioning nervous systems may be a bit hard to test on such a subjective interpretation maybe yes? clearly to validate yourself true you will have to explain WHAT love is in its fullest and then explain why a jelly fish doesnt feel that emotion at all, bc couldnt it be possible that experiencing love for one species may be interpreted differently from another species especially when the tools for this measurement dont exist? and if no is your answer then why not? while this may be a possible explanation and only and explanation and possibly not fact for what love is for OUR species, does that apply to all other species exactly the same? And if so prove that to me if you would!
