  1. I was going to get my mail a couple days ago and a couple misguided youths had placed a (very realistic) rubber rattlesnake in the sidewalk to the mailboxes. They rolled out of a car across the parking lots reveling in laughter saying "you might be white headed but you still have the moves!" I must admit I found a few old moves real fast.

Promising news about a new breakthrough treatment from Australia: --------- Queensland researchers and a US team have developed an antiviral therapy that has killed off the COVID-19 viral load in infected mice by 99.9 per cent. Key points: Gene-silencing RNA technology is used to destroy the COVID-19 virus genome directly and stops the virus replicating The treatment could be available as early as 2023, depending on the next phase of clinical trials The research has been published in Molecular Therapy Lead researcher Professor Nigel McMillan, from Griffith University, called it a "seek and destroy mission" where the therapy genetically targeted the potentially deadly virus. The international team of scientists from the Menzies Health Institute Queensland and the US research institute City of Hope began their collaborative research last April. They used a "next-generation" viral approach using gene-silencing RNA technology to attack the virus genome directly, which stops the virus spreading. "It causes the genome to be destroyed and the virus can't grow anymore — so we inject the nanoparticles and they go and find the virus and destroy it just like a heat-seeking missile," Professor McMillan said. "This is the first time we have been able to package this up as a particle, send it through the blood stream to attack the virus.   4. Five responses from you in that thread. So you’ve nailed it again. And the responses were pretty consistent, as is your misunderstanding of Newton’s laws. My counteroffer: no. What would likely happen is we would get inundated with nonsense for a week, which is unacceptable. The current protocol requires that a thread-starter get to the point and respond to feedback. i.e. we require they not waste anyone’s time. We’re not about to give a crackpot leave to ignore science for a week so they can post their entire manifesto. We don’t owe them a stage and a microphone. There’s no point in letting someone post a whole treatise in multiple parts when it’s based on unsound physics. Our rules let us examine the unsound basis, without the additional complications of the house of cards built on it.

  5. Have you no family ? Have you no social life ? Is there no-one you wish to protect from getting infected by you ? If so, you have bigger problems than Covid-19 or the vaccines. One thing I have never understood ... They publish the numbers of people ( out of millions ) who get blood clots from the vectorRNA vaccines, Astra-Zeneca and Johnson and Johnson, which have now gotten a bad name as 'second best',but no one has ever given numbers of how many people get blood clots from Covid-19. I would bet good money it is orders of magnitude higher.

  6. Even if the answer was "it's marginal" (Let's be clear; it is not marginal because the vaccine is way safer) then they should take the vaccine. It's a good idea not to spread diseases. Partly because it's antisocial. Partly because the more people get the virus, the more likely it is that the virus will mutate into something that does do lots of harm to the under 50s.
