  1. https://www.sciencealert.com/stunning-mirror-pools-and-other-wonders-discovered-on-the-edge-of-deep-sea-vents Stunning 'Mirror Pools' Discovered on The Edge of Boiling Deep Sea Vents MIKE MCRAE 4 APR 2019 It could be a landscape on an alien world. Strange optical effects and dazzling mineral formations bloom on the edge of water so hot it would be steam if not for the pressure of all that deep ocean above it. "The vibrant colour found on the 'living rocks' was striking, and reflects a diversity in biological composition as well as mineral distributions." (Schmidt Ocean Institute) Fluted shelves of mineral stained in brilliant shades; life fed not by sunlight but by the seep of liquid bubbling up from below; shimmering fluids pooling beneath rock shelves, refracting light like quicksilver mirrors. more at link......[Including an awe inspiring 7 minute video. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Would any one seriously, after watching this video, doubt the wide spread pollution we are causing on this planet? Anyone? Another link..... https://schmidtocean.org/new-lifeforms-and-mesmerizing-landscapes-discovered-on-ocean-floor/ Another....... https://www.sciencealert.com/plastic-bag-found-deepest-point-ocean-we-should-all-be-ashamed-mariana-trench-pollution A new study analysing over 30 years' worth of data on human-made trashfound in the deepest parts of the ocean reveals almost 3,500 pieces of plastic and other debris have been discovered littering these remote, fragile ecosystems. The Mariana Trench is the deepest part of the entire ocean – home to distant, alien forms of marine life we know next to nothing about – but its remote, almost unreachable location doesn't mean we haven't found ways to carelessly spoil it.

  2. I'm sure I am not the only one looking forward to the evidence for this (along with some evidence for your other claims). Incidentally, it's an acceptable shorthand within the scientific community to refer to " a gene for" when you actually mean (some set of genes which interact...."

  3. Asimov used to talk about someone approached him and said they had a great idea for a story; if Asimov would write it, they could split the money 50:50. Asimov said, "tell you what, you write the story and keep all the money." Ideas are easy. Execution is hard.

  4. Note that you cannot patent an idea or a concept. You can only patent a "machine" (in the most general sense) or "thing" that does something using that concept. The patent need to explain how the thing works in sufficient detail to allow someone else to build it. The best way of doing this is to build a version yourself. You would also need to provide that level of detail (and probably a working model) to convince an entrepreneur to invest. You would also need to be able to provide that level of detail to a developer who is going to help you. Note that if a developer worked with you and had to provide significant technical/innovative input to make the thing work, then they would have to be listed as an inventor on the patent. Why not? Lack of money? Lack of practical skills? Lack of theoretical knowledge? Don't wish to be unkind, but as someone who has worked in engineering and startups for most of my working life, this sounds like "I want someone else to do all the hard work, while I keep all the money". An entrepreneur is going to want a significant share of ownership if they are going to put money in. The same for someone providing either theoretical or engineering help.

  5. So simple that you can't believe somebody who studies this professionally didn't figure it out? If there was a simple way to violate physical laws, wouldn't we see SOME examples? Be realistic, it's MOST PROBABLE that your hypothesis is flawed. Most ideas are wrong, and you can't avoid that. Especially from folks who don't have a deep background in the sciences (which I assume about you because you're here trying to overthrow Newton instead of working with him). I would suggest you scan our Speculations section for similar titles. It's possible somebody else made the same discovery you did, and then came here to do what you're doing. Hopefully something will resonate with you, because this current approach isn't going to help in a meaningful way.

  6. I disagree. Lots of top-tier predators outsmart their prey without getting any smarter about it. Our intelligence emerged primarily because of the combined effects of cooking our food, tool use, agriculture/animal husbandry, great communication/cooperation, and having the time to specialize in pursuits OTHER than hunting and gathering.

  8. I think Endy's point was that you have to be alive to clinch something in your hand. If you die the hand muscle would relax and the bomb would explode.

  9. We get hit by meteorites every day...It just depends on the size. And of course if humanity had of been around when the asteroid that killed off the dinosaurs, it would also have done the same to us. And who said anything about straws destroying the planet. Going on your attitude here with regards to pollution, your house must be a real pig sty.

  10. If there once wasn't life and there now is life, what else is there but abiogenesis?

  11. There is short term reporting requirement for isolation of some microbes - such as biological warfare agents - and there are disease reporting requirements https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm6253a1.htm. Think the presumption that clinical labs are competent and would promptly engage state health dpts labs and CDC addresses broader issues you mention. I'd not get too concerned re. "pandemic" - the term has been been overused https://www.who.int/bulletin/volumes/89/7/11-088815/en/ and become hollywood melodrama ala "Hot Zone."

  12. Great point. My understanding is that thermal energy primarily what moves things around in a cell, and they move very fast. I don't know how good this source is but it is line what I had previously understood to be true. http://www.righto.com/2011/07/cells-are-very-fast-and-crowded-places.html

  13. Again I remember when these were first discovered, they were said to be a new type of life not dependent on the Sun, people speculated that life could have begun at these vents. Chemosynthetic bacteria were new and alien to science. The mirror pools actually represent better lighting and photography that was not available in the past, is there a straw there that threatens the Earth. Yea some people say so. The Earth survived a collision so great that the Moon was created, plastic isn't ending anything

  14. This is how glaciers form, by Summer snow and or longer snow seasons where the snow does not have time to all melt in the Summer. However now as said we are now having Summer snow. Funny how Al Gore has no comment...…………………………... https://www.foxnews.com/us/colorado-mountains-snow-first-day-of-summer https://www.denverpost.com/2019/06/23/denver-weather-summer-snow-mountains-rain/ https://denver.cbslocal.com/2019/06/22/summer-snow-is-celebrated-by-skiers-boarders-enjoying-extended-season/ https://www.coloradoan.com/story/news/2019/06/25/trail-ridge-road-rocky-mountain-national-park-reopens-after-summer-snow/1564757001/ Yup the climate sure is changing, the oceans might be dropping soon as glaciation expands

  15. The moon was created by a collision of some sort with the earth, the earth the oceans and hydrothermal vents all survived. That said the straws in my kitchen are not going to destroy the earth as some believe.

  16. Its snowing in Colorado by the way because the solar minimum is here. So much for al gores claim of no more snow. Summer snow, ice age on the way Then there was the asteroid that hit the yucatan and killed the dinosaurs and the earth survived, only to be destroyed by straws. Sure
