  1. Vexen has been suspended for a combination of soapboxing and spamming. Far too many threads opened up with no further participation (and when participation is there, it is often of the category "tell me more"), and includes threads that are topics easily Googled. This is a discussion forum.

  2. How many dark chapters in history do you believe have been justified this way? Having good intention doesn't exonerate bad outcomes.

  3. Certain types of energy, such as potential energy, are dependent on the configuration. Energy and mass, not matter. Mass is a form of energy. Yes, mass will be a property of the configuration. If you have an electron and a proton, separated and with no KE, you will have a certain mass. If you combine them into a hydrogen atom, it must release energy (the PE goes down by 27.2 eV, and the KE goes up by half that amount). The Hydrogen has less mass in the amount of 13.6eV/c^2 If you absorb a photon with energy E and excite the atom, the mass will increase by E/c^2 These effects have been experimentally confirmed.

  4. The point of Trump's tweet is now we're arguing about McCain and conservatives instead of the Mueller report. Weapons of mass distraction...

  5. You deserve more than just skepticism void of some level of detailed physical reasoning behind such. Regarding your 1st idea, it's enough to know that absence of any axial force gaurantees axial i.e. linear momentum is constant. But it can be established another way. Applying a mid-flight spin down torque means applying a purely transverse force (seen from the 'stationary' gun barrel frame) on each mass element in the ball not lying eaxactly on the spin axis. How that can be done in practice we don't worry about here! That transverse force is acting on a mass element at some finite radius from the spin axis, thus having both transverse and axial motion. It's a fact of relativistic transformation laws that acceleration and force are not collinear if force and velocity are not collinear. You guessed it - transverse deceleration i.e. spin down is also accompanied by an axial acceleration that exactly maintains linear momentum constant. I'm not going to work through the tedious specifics for a worked example confirming that claim, but will point you to an article, which YOU can then use to verify that momentum conservation holds: https://arxiv.org/abs/1806.08680 Regarding your 2nd example, you need to be aware that stress, both as cause of elastic energy and stress 'all by itself', is a source of inertial mass in relativity. Unlike the generally much smaller elastic energy contribution, which is a quadratic function of stress, inertial mass owing to stress 'all by itself' changes sign with a change of sign of stress. At the locations where the masses have maximum KE thus 'relativistic mass', there is also maximum tensile (negative!) inertial mass owing to tension in the spokes holding each mass. Again, I won't bother computing the competing effects, but suggest you ponder the situation more fully. What looks cut and dried initially is actually fairly complex.

  6. I have always defended J McCain, even when some of those who are currently 'outraged' by D Trump's attitude towards him, were less than enthusiastic about his character and fitness for POTUS. But how far do you go in blaming D Trump supporters for his actions ? And if you're going to blame them for having elected him and still supporting him, how about the roughly 45% of eligible voters who didn't cast a vote in the last election ? One could argue that if they cared about the outcome, they would have got out their vote.Obviously they didn't care, or were happy with the outcome. Or, for that matter, if they were so concerned about the outcome, why didn't Democrats and people who voted for H Clinton try to sway other's opinions to vote against D Trump ? Did they not care enough to avoid having a lying, boorish buffoon for a president ? You see how quickly it gets ridiculous when you start playing the blame game. You convince people by educating them, not by blaming them.

  7. One can disagree with Democrats all they want. I am against universal income, free college, and several other policies currently being discussed by some Democrats. One can have an honest discussion about those things. However one cannot have an honest discussion with liars and those who support liars. One can't have an honest discussion with those who denigrate the names of the recently deceased. John McCain is dead and not around to defend his name.

  8. Yeah, nothing reflects conservative values greater than insulting a war hero's academic standing and service to his country. No less being no longer around to defend himself. It's odious and insidious. It's the height of cowardice, vindictiveness and counter patriotism. Especially coming from a fraudulent draft dodger with obvious mental health issues.

  9. Let's not beat around the bush here, the alternative direction you've cited... is terrorism. The NZ shooter murdered fifty people after he wrote a 16,000 word hate manifesto, invoking Trump. If the shoe were on the other foot... conservatives would scream radical Islamic terrorism from the rooftops. It's radical white nationalist terrorism. Why can't they just say it? In fact, the only conservative I've ever heard attempting to set the record straight in a public setting, was John McCain.

  10. You now have a thread with two pages of nonsense and wasted effort. If you put one tenth the effort of making these diagrams into learning some basic mechanics you would be much further forwards. Properly learning this is urgent for anyone who offers the statement "Blackball 1 already have a force of 60N before striking the piston pusher." Do you know what force is and would you be willing to learn if someone told you?

  11. Question yes. No, not exclusive. to one side or the other. A Human trait, to be aware of. If you place barriers to a persons direction, you can't hold them responsible for choosing another. They can't be held responsible for the direction that opened for the displaced. As for taking responsibility for Trump, looks like they have, if his antics are worth what they gained. You won't change peoples conditions by denying them legitimacy in the collective. That doesn't address the condition, or even attempt to change it to a better one. It just says theres no place for them in this space. Trump represents an alternative direction. I doubt many people actually see him as the example thats been set or the lead to be followed, as much as a direction left open for diverse perspectives not accepted else where.

  12. The shame of it for the left is the idea that if you are not with us, you must be against us. Dissent with some aspects of policy on the left sees people shut out and silenced, denied any space there. There are really only 2 choices. Having good intention doesn't exonerate bad outcomes. A persons choice of which side to support, if a choice must be made, is subjective. I think its a huge mistake for Left thinking people to assume its objective. That the mass of humanity supporting the opposition in elections are supporting a similarly singular ideology as a fixed identity.

  13. You've failed to give them a better alternative. Most support him despite his...let's be kind and call them "antics", not because of them. Of course "despicable behaviour" is more accurate, but the point stands.

  14. The consequences are stacking up. Obama and Clinton were each President for 8yrs and no one went on murder sprees citing them as inspiration. Trump has been President for 2yrs and there have been numerous violent acts here in the U.S. and aboard where murderers have either directly citing Trump as their inspiration or are know to have been radicalized by the group in hate speech since Trump's election. A couple lone lunatics doesn't make a trend but we are beyond that now. Just in the lat 5 months we have seen the 5 below examples: Robert Bowers known as a staunch Conservative and White Nationalist on social media murdered 11 people attending synagogue in PA Oct. 18'. Gregory Bush who friends and associates described as having become increasingly vitriolic during the 2016 presidential campaign tried to enter the First Baptist Church of Jeffersontown during a service and murder people but was unable to because the doors were locked and then walked to a near by grocery store and murdered 2 shoppers. Cesar Sayoc who drove around in a pro Trump van and frequently posted pro Trump propaganda on social media mailed bombs to Obama, Clinton, Soros, CNN, and etc, etc, etc Oct. 18. Christopher Hasson was a self proclaimed White Nationalist who was arrested for plotting to murder at least 20 elected officials (all Democrats) Feb. 19'. This week in Christchurch New Zealand Brenton Tarrant a self proclaimed White Nationalist citing Trump as lived stream himself on Facebook murdering Muslims.

  15. I disagree. You don't have to be as clever to understand what he did, and coming up with an experiment may or may not require the same cleverness. Take EPR, for example. Einstein was proven wrong. For GR, though, we aren't going to prove it wrong at this point. There is too much evidence that it's correct. All we will do is find some limitation on where/how it can be applied, which is true of all theories.

  16. Strange I don't reflect your words to you today because I always avoid arguing with such the persons, but tomorrow, the reality will judge between us and will taught you, who thinks and behaves out of logic. Or maybe you plan is that to drive out persons with different believes from the topics by fanatical behaviors; I say to you, such the manner is not good at all. You don't know me and my knowledge and just think about yourself, you are a worthy person in philosophy, but I ensure you today, you are in a great mistake. You will lose yourself in the future, because it is a certain and unchangeable law of the system of the universe that wrong people never remain in the logical field, and fanatical believes will be eliminated. Before you, there were many similar persons with the similar opinion and behaviors that were faded in the history and forgotten. They were very higher than you and had a higher rank in the wrong philosophies. Marx and Lenin are two samples in the history that took many people to the misery and unluckiness for decades and eventually their wrong doctrine was demolished in the eyes of the world people with humiliation. You are not comparable with those high philosophers that went wrong and finally were forgotten in the history and now their incorrect believes is found just in the museums! You are lower than those famous philosophers that originated a wrong Ism in the world but afterwards it was revealed they were in a wrong way. I don't enlighten you anymore because I know it is like planting seed on the rock, but I just recommend you to respect people and behave politely to them because if you discuss in a bad manner it will go back to your character. ************************************ I didn't want to start a religious debate here. When somebody asks, what your feeling about death is, what I have to express? I must express my feeling based on my belief or something else? I only expressed my feeling without purposing establish a religious debate but Strange started an opposite ideology argue.
