  1. That's dangerous reasoning (or a dangerous lack). It assumes the verses, even when they sound horrific, are automatically benign and well-intentioned. Anyone who wants to manipulate your belief system just has to convince you you haven't studied them extensively enough. When it continues to sound like God turned a blind eye to His people's slaver-behavior, even though he's supposed to love all people, Pastor Doug has an interpretation that makes it all OK. It's a form of the Begging the Question fallacy.

  2. I see. I can just imagine how many new members ISIS will recruit now that they've been given a sound thrashing by the international community. I guess they would have had less members if we'd been 'nice' to them and let them brutalize the whole region. Maybe if we'd been nice to A Hitler and let him have Poland, he wouldn't have tried to take all of Europe. And If we had let North Korea take the southern peninsula, Kim Jung Un would be a nice respectful head of state today. And why not. Let J Stalin have Eastern Europe. It's a small price to pay for good relations with the Russians. ( I know, a little 'over the top', but it illustrates my point ) No, some evil just has to be stamped out.

  3. He seems willing to punish us for eternity based on things done before we were born. He judged all human actions based on the first two. He's supposed to be perfect, all-knowing, all-seeing, yet he created us with a flaw he punishes us for. A creator seems like a commander in that respect. You're responsible for whatever happens, especially if you already knew it would turn out that way. And who blames their creations for imperfections in the first place? If I make a chair that wobbles, why make the chair responsible?

  4. Because He explicitly OKed the practice all the way including sex slavery and beating slaves to within an inch of their lives. Then, in the New Testament, slavery is *still* condoned, so it's not an Old vs New thing

  5. For the most part such discussions are a bit meaningless or perhaps, are only meaningful in very specific contexts. For example, the view of C4 as a downgrade does not make a lot of sense in most contexts. For starters, C4 is a newer development, records place it ca. 24-35 million years ago. However, it is also incredibly divergent and arose more than 40 times in over a dozen families of angiosperms. Many (predominantly dicots) were rather recent additions (< 5 million years). So from a historic sense it is simply an adaptation to low CO2 conditions (as Rubisco also uses O2 and thereby at low CO2 levels carbon fixation efficiency is low). A second aspect is that C4 pathway is not a singular pathway, rather it represents a range of adaptations, including structural ones that use a series of enzymes to concentrate CO2 locally to enhance the actions of Rubisco. To this end there are also structural changes to form the Rubisco-and CO2-rich compartment. However, the net fixation of CO2 still depends on the same enzyme as C3 photosynthesis (i.e. Rubisco). So it cannot evolve easily as it really needs established C3 mechanisms as basis. I think it is better to think it is a modification to deal with increasing O2 concentrations (in geological terms), essentially by adding a layer on top of the basic C3 pathways, which are fundamentally integrated into plant metabolism. If you really wanted to create a hierarchy one would generally consider C4 photosynthesis as more complex, not because it evolved later, but rather due to the added functional and structural layers. Note that this is based on introductory level of knowledge, I am not a plant researcher (though have some familiarity with metabolic pathways and their consequences as a whole).

  6. ...in advance? No. Thing didn't happen, yet.. Using your the above logic the all schools should be dismantled because a few per mile to few percent of teachers are molesting students.. ..what with dentists.. ? They may use sleep medicament and abuse unaware patient.. Dismantle the all dental clinics? etc. etc. No. It is example of overreaction and collective responsibility and collective punishments for sins of minority..

  7. Indeed so. Indeed so. The product (it must be a product) variables have the dimensions ML2T-1 so it can easily be seen that momentum x position = MLT-1 x L energy x time = ML2T-2 x T satisfy this. What you have not understood is that it is only such pairs of variables that come unde the HUP> Measuring or calculating other properties do not. The measuring process may or may not change the particle, but any such change is additional to the HUP . No the HUP also applies to calculated theoretical values, where not only is no measurement ever made, but the particle may not actually ever exist at all. It is so disappointing to have received a big fat raspberry to my attempts to help.

  9. The width is the number of soldiers, each mm for 10,000 The large light brown is the invading army crossing the Niemen river (422.000 troops). The black is the return trip from Moscow(only 10,000). The full legend can be found on the link to the map. English: The map's French caption reads: Figurative Map of the successive losses in men of the French Army in the Russian campaign 1812–1813. Drawn up by M. Minard, Inspector General of Bridges and Roads in retirement. Paris, 20 November 1869. The numbers of men present are represented by the widths of the colored zones at a rate of one millimeter for every ten-thousand men; they are further written across the zones. The red [now brown] designates the men who enter into Russia, the black those who leave it. —— The information which has served to draw up the map has been extracted from the works of M. M. Thiers, of Segur, of Fezensac, of Chambray, and the unpublished diary of Jacob, pharmacist of the army since October 28th. In order to better judge with the eye the diminution of the army, I have assumed that the troops of prince Jerome and of Marshal Davoush who had been detached at Minsk and Moghilev and have rejoined around Orcha and Vitebsk, had always marched with the army. The scale is shown on the center-right, in "lieues communes de France" (common French league) which is 4444 m (2.75 miles). The lower portion of the graph is to be read from right to left. It shows the temperature on the army's return from Russia, in degrees below freezing on the Réaumur scale. (Multiply Réaumur temperatures by 1¼ to get Celsius, e.g. −30 °R = −37.5 °C) At Smolensk, the temperature was −21° Réaumur on 14 November.

  11. Einstein was wrong about several aspects of QM. And yet you have not acknowledged that your hypothesis contradicts established theory, and experimental evidence. Since you have indicated that you will not be doing this, we're done.

  12. There were a lot, and despite the efforts of denazification of Germany quite a few become members of the new democratic order. Ultimately, only a handful were convicted and many that were deemed to be collaborators were allowed to pursue careers in politics, police and so on. Perhaps around 1% of all cases resulted in ban from public offices or worse punishments. Not entirely sure what your point is here, to be honest as no one lost their citizenship in the process. In fact, due to ius sanguinis there were quite a few folks from the former Soviet Union with German ancestry who were allowed to return to Germany and assume citizenship.

  14. That definition of slavery or "indentured servitude" only applied to Hebrew males. Anyone else was considered property. There is even a part dealing with what occurs if a Hebrew man married one of his master's women servants while in his service. Once he served his term, he was free to leave, but his wife and any children remained with the master. If he refused to leave them, he would be taken to a doorpost, and have an awl driven through his ear to mark him as his master's slave forever.

  16. The UK's high treason is defined as this: "Offences constituting high treason include plotting the murder of the sovereign; committing adultery with the sovereign's consort, with the sovereign's eldest unmarried daughter, or with the wife of the heir to the throne; levying war against the sovereign and adhering to the sovereign's enemies, giving them aid or comfort; and attempting to undermine the lawfully established line of succession." And I agree. She deserves a trial to determine the punishment. But until then, she's already been convicted of high treason against the United Kingdom.

  17. If you cut her slack on the basis of her being a kid tricked by ISIS into this whole situation you would need to cut slack on all minor killers, serial killers and other minor offenders. We need to take care of our offspring as a species and we all have that embeded in our instincts but this right here is a very rare case and a purely pollitical one; Do we issue a „rebutal” to ISIS and any future potential Shamima Begum’s by taking care of her, putting her in a program and treating her like a victim instead of an offender?

  20. When you measure the momentum, for example, you interact with its energy so you change the phenomenon. Yes but you can't know position/momentum without measuring them. Ok but this concerns mathematical logic. Can you measure something without changing it? What does it mean 'additional to HUP'?

  21. No Pastor Doug is correct. He is referring to Hebrew slaves. It is my explanation that is wrong. Christains don't deny bad things happen in the Bible. We are not blindly following the Bible. Nor with good Pastors we are not being lied to. The Old Testament is difficult to understand. The Old Testiment was Hebrew law. But the question is unanswerable. And no Christian can answer it. But one unanswered question does discredit the Bible. In my own opinion, the question is not why God allows slavery, but why does Man allow slavery. Why is God or how is God responsible?
