The iodide is about 100 times less soluble, but the difference is negligible in practical terms (pKsp is 14.8 for the chloride and 16.1 for the iodide). When i want to substitute chloride ligands (e.g. reaction of chloride with some silver salt), it is better to use iodide instead of chloride, because of good separation (reaction is in water, the product is soluble in water) and iodide has a "high affinity" to silver?
