Evolution or just because of simple math rule

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, i am just a science lover and photographer. A couple month ago i doscover something and i share this with my friend and i make a youtube video about it. My friends though that is makesense and they like this idea and i curious that what will you think about it.

Its about why honey combs are hexogonal. I compare honey combs and other natural hexagone shapes like turtle shells and some flovers.

And if an hexagone can occurs naturally then it should be a need firstly. And i found that its connected to a geometrical rule of there is only 6 circle arround a circle if all that 7 circle are same size. And if it is, then all round material face to swelling tandency then all of them transform to hexagones. My english is not good to explain it watch my video and i ll be waiting for replies.

I'm pretty sure that hexagons are there because it's the way to cover the entire surface with polygons with equal area and of the least possible perimeter, and for honey bees that would mean that less wax is required to build honeycombs and honeycombs are all of equal size.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honeycomb_conjecture

As far as the other structures are concerned, such as turtle shells, cracking clayey soil in hot weather and others - that should be because hexagon is the regular polygon with the highest number of sides that can tile the entire area and having the highest number of sides means it's the closest to the circle that you can get and circle is the lowest-energy arrangement on a plane, same as sphere is the lowest energy shape in 3d space.

Im just trying to explain how that hexagones occurs with that gaps dissappeared with swellig tandency... You did not watch the video too i think...

One should be able to participate without watching videos. This is a discussion forum, not a place for people to advertise their youtube channel (see rule 7) . Since you had some discussion in the OP the video can stay (for now, at least), but your responses need to more than variants of "watch the video"

No need to respond to this modnote
