shadowdust Posted December 8, 2015 Share Posted December 8, 2015 Hey guys so im looking into buying my first microscope and looking to spend between £100 - £200 i know its not much but for someone who wants a nice hobby looking at pond life, taking swabs of the cheek, blood samples i understand a compound microscope to be best for these i have come across 2 names in the microscope world but i don't know whos better apex microscopes amscope microscope. i know there is also olyompous but addons are very expensive Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

DrP Posted June 9, 2016 Share Posted June 9, 2016 I just bought a cheapy Chinese microscope. Same sorta price range. It is a Bresser LCD Micro 5MP microscope with a digital camera and video recorder attached. You can only view on screen, but seems fine. Has usb connection to PC and takes an SD card. Mag x 500. I do not have a big usage for it here at work, but it is a useful lab tool to have and I have been meaning to get one for ages. As with any of these cheap Chinese things, they give good functionality for the price.... and if it does break then it has cost me £150 not £1500.
