The Almighty ydoaPs Jr

As many of you know, it was the case that I was going to be a daddy. Well, that time has come! It's time to show off your kids.

My son is now two days old. He was born on September 8 at 4:48pm and he weighs in at 1lb 13oz. He made it to one day before 28 weeks before he had to come out.

If you've got kids, how many do you have? Any advice/tips/tricks?

Well this shows how wrong today's thread saying we were a stuffy load of has-beens is.

Congratulations mate. +1

Suggestions?

When I first went to University there was a lad there called Martin, who had something in stone jars he was drinking.

What's that? Martin we asked.

After some arm twisting we got a sip.

It was the nicest drink I have ever tasted.

It turned out that his family had a tradition of making marrow rum.

The father would make the rum and lay it down for the son to drink

and lay down more for his son in turn....

This had apparently been going on for generations.

So get started mate.

:)

Congratulations to ydoaPs, and belated birthday to mdoaPs! You gotta love a guy who can't wait to get started.

Tips:

Babies start out small and helpless so you can learn how to wrangle them before they get big and mobile. Your learning curve matches their development perfectly, so don't worry about how "new" this all is. At least until they learn to crawl. Then all bets are off, and you spend the next two years getting whiplash from trying to figure out where they ran off to.

Carry at least three band-aids in your wallet at all times for the next ten years. If your son doesn't need them, his friends will.

There are no "tricks" when it comes to babies. Just as soon as you think you have a certain behavior figured out, the baby will change the behavior. I must have discovered a hundred "tricks" for getting my daughter to fall asleep, and they all worked well, for about three days each.

Thanks for all the well-wishes and sorry I've taken so long to reply. It's been kind of up and down. He's been getting better and getting worse and getting better and so on, though the bouts of getting better are longer now and more better than they were. He went from the doctor telling us on Thursday that there's nothing more they can do and that we should spend as much time with him as we can because they didn't think he'd make it through the night to doing so well he's off all of his meds and almost off of the first ventilator.

So, basically, he's starting the trolling early. Like father, like son, I guess.

I guess I am obligated to acquire a pogo stick now, aren't I?

Best wishes for a tough little guy. I hope Mom & Dad are taking care of themselves as well. Remember when you used to sleep?

Like your father, and his father before him.

When I first encountered ydoaPs on the internet something like 10 years ago it was my immediate impression that he was the kind of responsible and mature person that would make a great father.

Well okay that's a lie but good thing you waited for a while. :D Congratulations and good luck!

Congratulations Mr/Ms ydoaPs, and best wishes for your little one!

Even so small, they are born with a lot of fight in them.

Remember the "miracle babies" of the Mexico City earthquake.

I can't believe it's been almost 30 years!

Moontanman expressed my sentiments exactly.

Simply love them, love them, love them!

When I saw that my hand is almost the same size as the hand in photo #4,

I realized that ydoaPs Jr is shown almost actual size on my screen! Wow!

Mr.ydoaPs Jr, although we haven't had any conversations before, I would still say congratulations. Teaching a child isn't as simple as it seems to be. Making your child obedient is even harder. But I know the almighty ydoaPs Jr is ready for it and I know you will succeed. Who knows one day your child will be Einstein. Congratulations!

  • 2 months later...

He was supposed to be born sometime this week, but he was born on September 8. That made him very small, so he is unfortunately still in the hospital working on his lungs. I hate to ask for money, but the NICU is very expensive. If anyone feels like helping out with this gofundme, I'd be eternally grateful.
