  1. 1. Would you have electronics implanted into yourself for purposes of increasing human capabilities(i.e. mental capacity, advance bio-infomatics, etc?

hello all,

I'm new to the forum world. I wanted to start off with this topic of implantable CONSUMER electronics (not medical).

i feel like there would be lots of controversy similar to the whole RFID scare of obama care.

1) what are the ethical implications? (i have a very practical and technical sense of perception so i cannot think to deep when it comes to ethics of the technology. i would really appreciate outside opinions haha)

2)From an objective point of view, how would the "assimilated" human with enhanced capabilities (ex: seamless access to data, fully integrated health system-implanted medical diagnostics., enhanced perceptions, etc.) change society or human behavior? can these behaviors be seen with todays technologies?

who here would actually do it? (if pain and money were not obstacles ?)

3)what are some technical challenges and possible remedies for them?

4) features anyone? haha

I trade body parts. I implant wireless chips into people's body parts then kill them when they don't pay me money. Here have a new liver don't want to pay me that's okay it just stops working. Want a heart transplant now?

orwellianism can be seen in todays technologies.

Can these behaviors be seen with todays technologies?

you should have started protesting once the mobile cellular phone first entered the world because the provider of the services knows who, when, and where it is being using.

its called cellular geolocation.

by the way, that 1984 is my all time favorite book haha

Yup I can do this.

This http://nationalreport.net/rfid-chip-now-being-issued-in-hanna-wyoming-as-part-of-new-obamacare-plan/ is scary

That's fake/satire.

Logically it doesn't even make sense. Be too easy for literally anyone to track and fairly simple to block/remove.

Anyways back to the topic at hand, I think once they figure out how to send more complex inputs into the brain we'll see the most progress.

Direct data sensing and Mind-to-Mind communication. No language barriers, no worrying about egos and emotions, no looking at data converted to something you can use the standard senses to figure out. I don't think it is even possible to imagine what we'll accomplish then.

yeah thats what i was thinking. brain to machine interfaces are advancing very quickly

these scientist were able to reconstruct neuronal activities in the visual cortex into viewable images on a computer screen.

im not really getting the opinions. just links to other peoples opinions. lets take it back to basics shall we?

"On the occasion of every act ask yourself, how is this with respects to me?"- Aurelius.

why should i fear this technology? (it seems that is what you are implying)

and why do i care?(i ask with the most respect)

So they can view which areas of the brain are lighting up when you watch movies. Which is kind of cool for medicine. As far as I am aware though this is just an fmri it isn't implantable electronics it just takes pictures. Can they actually use this to find out what is wrong with somebody sick or are they wasting a million dollar machine? Ah I found one http://www.weizmann-usa.org/printpreview?articleid=6b8383da-c497-647c-b66d-ff00005fc039 claims to be able to diagnose autism with fmri and movies.

I find it scary.

oh im sorry i didnt elaborate a bit. i was just pointing out the advancements in the technology. just implying that this could potentially be used in implantable technologies like for example TV or visual data being stream directly into the brain. \

as for finding it scary, could you explain a little more? i get your take on orwellianism, but it that the only thing you are scared of in this technology? (or in technology in general for that matter?)

I find it scary.

But are you legitimately scared, or are you just maintaining a bias you got from a fake news story? Thousands of people believed that story, and one of the weirdest hallmarks of confirmation bias is that when people prove you were wrong, it actually makes you more convinced you're right. Based on this, I predict you still secretly think people are being forced to accept surgical implants.
