Try making copper sulfate.

Dissolve epsom salt in water.

connect two 9-volt batteries up in a series circuit.

connect those batteries(using wires) to 2 copper leads that hang down into the epsom salt solution

After a few days (and many batteries) you will have copper sulfate

slowly (very slowly to prevent it from running over you container) pour the copper sulfate through a coffee filter

the filtered version is the finished product

Why don't you use rectifier such as KBPC610 (6 A, 1000 V) which cost $0.5 and optionally fuze (6 A for KBPC610) and capacitor 450 V >100 nF, and regular AC 230 V?

You won't be wasting batteries, and will have result very quickly.
