MoneyMaker
How many pounds of Sodium Hydroxide does it take to make 10 gallons of 50% Sodium Hydroxide solution?
Suxamethonium
First of all you need to decide if you are calculating by w/w or w/v %. Then its literally just calculating what 50% is. It sounds like a h/w question so I don't want to just tell you the answer.
MoneyMaker
No, not homework. LOL that was long ago and if I would have been paying closer attention I would not have to ask you guys for help! The 50% is derived from the 50% solution that is sold commercially. I think its the maximum amount that will dissolve in water, therefore I do not know if it is by volume or weight. Thanks
Suxamethonium
Well, im going to assume its w/w. I work in grams, so I'll just tell you what to do: You need to convert gallons to grams using the density for water. Then calculate 50% of that mass and convert it to pounds. (alternative use a density with units "pounds/gallon")
