You all probably know about the consecutive post merger already, which combines consecutive posts in a thread if they come from the same member.

Sometimes knowing where one post ends and another begins would be helpful. So is this better?

Wait for it...

Here's my second post in this thread :-)

Previously, there was no indication in the merged post as to where the original post ended and the subsequent post began.

Yes; it just appends BB code to your post before the merge is carried out.

and at the same time, delicious.

Very nice! It's a solution for those who are incapable of using the edit button. Speaking of which, is therea time limit for editing one's posts? It appears that there is, but how long is it before they lock?

Once you post in a thread you have exactly

6 hours to edit your post before it is locked. This is to prevent people going back and deleting their posts after a lot of responses and wasting everyone's time, something that happened just today, as a matter of fact, even with the 6 hour limit.

What happens if you just add the [mp]Consecutive posts merged[/mp] tags without actually making a consecutive post?

Let's see.

To be fair if you didn't want the line you can just edit it, so I think it is good.
